Perfect spot to stay for few nights to enjoy the private, sandy beach at this location. We stayed in one of the small little cottages (purple... SAND BAR) nestled among a handful of other brightly painted cottages. Tucked away were also a few RV trailers ..... all in all placed along the property so all had their own space and view of the Lake. Our cabin, while clean, was a step back in time as others have said. Basic in every way..It was good for what we needed and provided a clean comfortable bed, small but working bathroom with our own toilet and shower. The small|Cottage has windows on all four walls which is nice as allows for air flow and view. There is no A/C... but fan provided and I had my own fan as well. Our stay occurred during COVID-19 situation and social distancing and regulations were in force here and it worked out great. The location was full with families and a few couples. Everyone respected regulations and distancing and were able to enjoy the beach. The beach is sandy, clean, and sandy bottom. To get to it, there is an angled grassy path that slopes down. Not hard at all.... but those with wheelchair, walkers, etc. May have issues. | Our cabin had a mini fridge , coffee pot and older microwave that worked. You will need to plan your feeding events accordingly. We also ate dinner at the tavern up on the road side near the front of the property. Places to eat are within 5-10 minutes drive... or cook on the provided grills or your fire pit . It is not affiliated with the resort BUT FOOD WAS GREAT! Inside was A/C and decor great. We ate outside in the back patio and among shade and view of the lake. Had the brisket and cold beer.. and good for all ages. I must mention, the trains can be heard frequently in the background as tracks are across the street and among the woods and trains can be heard frequently. However, after a while, you get used to it and can still enjoy the serenity and beauty of the beach, waves on lakeshore etc. bring your bug spray...you have your own fire pit to enjoy! This was a plus stay for us as we are used to “real cottage living in Lake Erie”...... it’s not the Hilton.... but our experience was good. Would...

Read morePrice was good - view of Lake Erie was excellent, but the drive into the “resort” is very cluttered and extremely dated. There is a section for campers that he looked cramped and sketchy, as well as the cottages or buildings in the back. We almost turned around but decided to stick with it as we had reservations. ||||The cottage- or as we referred to it “The Shed” was clean but very small. Definitely take a stand up fan. They have a window box fan, ceiling fan and a small one by the bed but if it’s warm outside you’re going to need it. We lucked out with cooler evenings but if it were really hot outside it would be quite uncomfortable. ||||If you don’t have back, shoulder or hip issues before you go - you will by the end of your first night. The Red cottage has the worst bed in North America. Almost creepy quiet and very little security lighting around the property. Not quite sure why they bother with locks on the doors because it would be effortless to get in. ||||They have a shelter area with grills but it looks cluttered and dirty as well- just a little effort to do some low budget updates and placement of things would do themselves a favor. ||||Like I said the view was great but going to take a hard pass on returning. I feel bad giving this bad of a review but it really wasn’t that great and others have it sounding like this great Middle America...
