Moon Valley Campground — Hotel in Vernon Township

Wow. I cannot give enough praise to Moon Valley for creating the best camping experience We’ve ever had. I rented the Hilltop Hideaway for my Husband’s 40th birthday weekend. This campsite was the PERFECT place to enjoy a relaxing weekend hiking and exploring nature while feeling secluded in a magical landscape.

The correspondence from the team was prompt and friendly, which was encouraging to see before we even got to the campground. But the true star of the show was the campground itself. Impeccably arranged both outside the tent and in — and full of small touches and details (solar-powered string lights, a generator with outlets for charging devices if needed, bedside tables, a space heater, Adirondack chairs both on the front porch and at fireside) — the grounds really displayed an intention to give us the feel of being in nature while also delighting in the creature comforts that are often absent when sleeping in the woods.

The team provided thorough hiking maps, documentation and information about everything from nearby shopping to QR codes to make purchasing firewood easy and worry-free.

A Hidden Gem in the Hills! Moon Valley Campground in Vernon, NJ completely exceeded my expectations. The property is absolutely stunning—perched on a hillside with panoramic views of the valley and working farm below. Just a short walk from our site, we were indulging in fresh apple cider donuts and ice cream from the farmstand, or setting off to hike the famous Angels Landing section of the Appalachian Trail.

We stayed at “The Lookout,” which came fully furnished with a super comfy bed, a table, heater, lights, and all the basics you’d need for a cozy, restful night—and best of all, that million-dollar view! The campsites are thoughtfully spaced so you feel completely secluded, and each one includes a picnic table, fire pit, and secure bear-safe trash containers.

Being tucked between Vernon and Warwick meant we were just a quick drive from some incredible farm-to-table dining, too. Whether you’re a seasoned glamper or someone who wants the outdoor experience without roughing it too much, I highly recommend this campground. We can’t wait...

Recently my husband found Moon Valley Campground searching for a last minute camping getaway so our 4 year old could experience tent camping for the first time. We were blown away by how beautiful this campground was. We stayed at the Heavens Landing site and it was in the woods with a small clearing to walk up to. We saw sheep and cows and a big gorgeous sky. The tent had a very comfy full size bed that fit the 3 of us on a chilly night. We loved the picnic table and cabinet at the site. The chairs look uncomfortable but were great and we even said next time we don't need our camping chairs! There are only 5 sites total at Moon Valley so if you are looking to experience camping in peace this is the place to go. The owner was only a text away to answer any and all questions or concerns that we had. We only wished there was more than one porta potty on site (my 4 year old wasn't a fan lol) but hey it's rustic and it's camping! We absolutely loved this place and can't wait to go back!!
