This is a post that I sent to them bc of their threats to me after trying to discuss with them what happened to us at the pool and then my husband laid his wallet down and it disappeared… anyway the owner Craig has replied torudely to me after I tried to speak to him instead of text, he has accused me of harassing his employees etc. but refused to talk to me on the phone about this situation and has tried to make me look like I am the one guilty of something all because he is trying to protect himself and his business he could careless about his guests. ||I am replying to your post…. Below. You do not ever have to worry about me or my family ever….. coming back there…. You can try to make me look like the “crazy” person all you want… what’s crazy is you can not even talk to me about this on the phone… and your manager Sandy who I was on the phone with for 19 minutes was trying to convince me that you have a man that lives on the premises who is an alcoholic and posses as an employee there and she was going to send me a picture of him to make sure I am not mistaken about your employee bc you both keep saying he doesn’t drink…. The man at the pool who was drunk…. Who turned in our fishing poles to the office “which sandy said was the employee Jason” that we left the pool bc he made everyone so uncomfortable that we all left “your other guests left the pool too” and he was trying to touch my grandson and kiss him… while I was ||Holding him in my arms and trying to get to the steps to get out of the pool. It was the same man working on your electrical boxes the next day behind the pool amd was sitting in the golf cart and drove over but he office and parked between the office and the mining table while I was standing there waiting on my husband to come out of your store. The guy was still in that spot when we walked over to the pool. My point is… whether he lives there or works there or both HE WAS DRUNK! There were witnesses and a lawyer can sure enough make you hand over the other guests info to him and he can contact them about that man if we wanted to for real get to the bottom of all this. Which we very may should bc it might save some kids life one day. Maybe that’s why God allowed my husbands wallet to come up missing so we can just truly settle this with the police. ||The man at the pool drunk and touching my grandson on the back of his head caressing it which was crazy weird and everyone out here started clearing out at the point… I was panicking on the inside and trying to figure out how to get away from him and get out of the pool. My husband’s saw how freaked out I was told me to get out of the pool it’s time to go in and eat. I assumed this guy was a guest and he was drunk and it was time to go… and he did kiss my grandson once and tried to kiss him again, (same man that had my husbands fishing poles, same man working on your electrical boxes the next day the same man that was by the mining table and office where my husband laid his wallet down at to help my grandson mine… he said that night at the pool talking to my husband and the older gentleman that his name was Jason he was from the Richland/florence area he use to go to McDowell road and watch ppl race when he was a teenager. He is 50 years old… so if he is your employee then it’s the same guy. Even though you are trying extremely hard to prticeft him for some reason… if he lives on the premises and does not work there and impersonates your employees as your manager tried to tell me (I was confused bc Jason your employee does not drink… but this man that lives there does and he even tried to help yall on the camp grounds and he tells ppl he is security or a helper there, is what sandy told me that guy does and that it had to be him bc Jason does not drink…) but she did tell me it was Jason the employee who brought my husbands fishing poles to the office… soooo that makes me think you both are trying to hide something for some reason… but if he is pretending to be an employee there and is not, then you may want to give him an eviction notice…. If he is an employee, you may want to have a hard talk with him about getting drunk and touching and...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed there Friday June 27- July 2. We have stayed at many camping facilities. The grass was and is knee high very disappointing for kids areas. But the most important was we were at the pool Sunday night there was a gentleman in his 80s retired youth pastor and a lady with long dark curly hair and two young girls. I was in the pool with my grandson who is 3, the older gentleman and the two young girls. My husband was sitting in a chair talking to the older gentleman. There was a man (Jason) 50 years old from the Jackson area he was very loaded from alcohol and you could smell it on him. The lady left with her two kids bc she was nervous about the way this guy was acting with me and my grandson… he made us very uncomfortable so my husband said it’s time to go in and eat… we all left with that man still in the pool. My husband and I was in a hurry to leave and get back to the camper we were so shocked. He left his two fishing poles at the pool. The next morning Monday morning he went to the office to see if anyone turned them in, they had not and no one had seen them.. I asked the guy from the pool the night before bc he was left at the pool alone.. he was working on some electrical boxes alone so I assumed he worked there and was riding around in a golf cart but mainly at that one area behind the pool working on the electrical he said yes he got them and took them to his place he would go get them and he did and turned them in to the office… later that day we went in their store and purchased a fly swatter 3 things of ice crème and a big bag of dirt for the mining table for our 3 year old grandson.. I walked out with my grandson and my husband was still in the store paying. The man (Jason) was over between us and the store (very close area) my husband came out and walked over to the mining table with me and my grandson and laid his wallet down. It’s around 5 or so at this time Jason my husband and I went back to the pool with our grandson and was in the pool for a while longer my grandson and I left the park and went home we loaded everything up from the pool my husband went back to the camper the next morning he realized he left his wallet at the mining table… no one has seen it or turned it in and had around 300.00 in it in cash. We called and asked. They have been rude said there was no one there that works there and Jason is the guy that we know was working there and can identify but he does not drink at all they said. But she said he was the employee who turned in the fishing poles to the office… he was the same guy at the pool and the same guy at the mining table… so, my guess is he got the wallet (maybe not) but that have been very rude and trying hard to protect this guy even saying that there is a guy that lives on the grounds and tells everyone he is an employee but isn’t. Either way if it’s an employee or not… the man drinking that lives there or is an employee there is not a good idea to be around ppl drunk. He tried to kiss my grandson twice once he did on the head and I backed up quickly he was trying to rub his head too just very weird and uncomfortable. That’s why we left in a hurry and the other ppl did too. I did think he was just a guest until I saw him working on the electrical box behind the pool. The ppl that work their sandy the manager and Craig ( the owner lives in Texas, man of God, does missions in Nepal) who refused to talk to me on the phone but would text me…about this situation was so weird too. Anyway please be safe and watch your kids closely if...
Read moreThis review for Askew's Landing Campground is based on two 1-night visits traveling through this area to visit family in another state and then going back home. There was a lot of rainy weather happening during both visits. This campground is very secluded by trees and is off the main highway, which is nice, so you don’t hear that noise. The narrow dirt roads are probably expected by most visitors. The cons for our two 1-night visits in July 2024. As I mentioned it had rained, the road into the campground had one very muddy spot you must drive through so If you don’t want to get mud all over your truck or camper you should drive very slowly. Since this is under new ownership, I believe they will eventually either pour gravel or add some pavement on the main roads and RV sites. The site where we were placed was right beside a bathroom which I could smell when I was standing outside my camper so avoid that space if possible. For me, our RV site was too close to the next RV site/camper. I prefer a little more space and seclusion for privacy. I did not get a chance to ask if they had full hookups at the more secluded sites, but I will probably ask for that for my next visit. On the return 1 night stay, same campsite, that entire row lost power for about 10 minutes during heavy rain. We believe it was a power surge. If a person wants to stay longer than 1 night and needs strong internet service for work or play, they should probably make sure they have their own hotspot or other portable internet service. The current internet offered was very weak on both of our 1-night visits, so we ended up using our personal hotspots to keep from losing connection while watching a movie on our Roku/Netflix streaming services. Again, the new owners may be working on these things, or it could have been a bad weather issue. So, for the PROs, the location is very beautiful and has nice amenities for those who enjoy the outdoors or social activities. I saw people fishing and I know they have some kayaks, a small swimming pool, a pavilion for events, a couple of small cabins and regularly scheduled social activities. I believe they had a food truck and things going on for kids the 1-night visit on our way home, it was still happening even with the rain. The management and outside employees are super nice and helpful, and they have a nice little store area inside the building where you check-in. It seems to have most anything you might need during your stay. We walked around with our dogs before the rain, and it was very peaceful. The overall campground environment/setting was very clean and pleasant. The cost for RV sites seemed appropriate and fair for the amenities offered. Oh and one other thing, we had to change our visit dates from June until July due to a death in the family and the new owners were more than happy to accommodate us with a credit to our account on short notice and they waited several days for me to call back and reschedule for July. I am sure we will visit again in the future, maybe even meet other family members there for a full weekend or week of relaxing....
