Heading home we decided to stay in the Vicksburg area after driving all week from Texas to Virginia and back. I had called to make sure they had a room available. Upon arriving the Valet was friendly and brought us a luggage cart. However when we reach the front desk we had to wait as she was busy with the gift shop area register. We proceeded to our room and noticed a sign by the elevator that said pardon our dust. Ok we understand that things have to be updated from time to time. Our room was in the area being renovated. Not a good impression. Now understand we have been driving for 16 hours and we're exhausted and hungry. We took a shower (the shower head was loose so we had to carefully move it to position it for us) and put on fresh clothes and headed down for dinner. We had 2 choices, 1) a buffet which was featuring steak that day, or 2) a place which seemed to serve what I like to refer to as "sports bar" type of food with a daily special of roast beef. We unfortunately went with the buffet. After paying over $52.00 for the both of us and seeing what was on the buffet line we knew it was a mistake. I am more adventurous of trying things but my husband is not. He tried the vegetable soup looked like it was made from whatever was being thrown out off the buffet and yesterday's roast beef. The lobster bisque was more of can tomatoe soup ground up pieces of what I would hope was lobster. I tried the medium cooked steak which apparently has been sitting out on a warming grill for quite some time. It was well done. The vegetables seemed to all have been frozen or canned. Nothing was fresh. I had held out some hope for the desserts. Again frozen or prepackaged. My husband opted for the cherry cobbler and was going to put vanilla ice cream on it. The ice cream machine only had chocolate and strawberry flavors. The only constellation to this whole meal experience was our waiter. He was very friendly and attentative. Oh and they did give us $5 dollars each in free play in the casino. We went to the casino and many of the slots didn't work or could not read the card we had to use to get the free $5 to play. We were very tired and decide to go to our room and just relax and watch TV before going to bed. Upon entering our room none of the lights would turn on. We were advised that a storm had moved through the area while we were in the casino and caused a tree to fall on some power lines. This seemed rather weird to us as the casino, the elevators, lobby area and the hallways on our floor all had power. We understand they were not responsible for what happened due to the storm, but rather the lack of concern for our safety. We were told by the front desk and a maintenance man that it was not their problem. We asked if they had a flashlight so we could at least maneuver around of room without getting injured tripping over furniture. She advise that they didn't. We asked why it is that everything else was working but not the lights in our room. She advised the those items are on a backup generator. Our suggestion is that while they are doing the renovations that they put a security light in the rooms so if the power does go out guest will have to the ability to see in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTraveled from Houston TX to Tallulah LA, for a family members funeral and this was the closest 3 star hotel in the area. I pre booked the hotel prior to arriving, the reviews stated there was a hotel entrance and a casino entrance. Upon arrival I was very disappointed to find that the entrances are not quite separate, both lead past the casino which allows smoking. Needless to say that there was no way to avoid the smoke filled atmosphere. I immediately informed the desk clerk I would not be staying because of the misinformation regarding the separate entrances and that my allergies could not tolerate the smoke in the air. She said she couldn't do the refund, but her supervisor will be in the office the next day 6/19/25. I went back the next day to inquire about the refund for my 4 day reservation. The clerk said that she had a note from the supervisor stating that the refund had been issued except for 1 day because of their cancelation policy. Again I explained that I prebooked the hotel based on the misinformation on their website and because of health reasons I couldn't stay there. The request for the full refund fell on deaf ears, my only option will be to report them to the BBB and let others know about the misinformation they present on their website!||CONS: Dismall customer service and the front desk, there is no way to avoid a smoke filled atmosphere, they try to mask it, but it's prevalent. There are no rooms in this hotel that actually overlook the Mississippi River this too is misleading the rooms are also dismal and dated, it's a 2 star hotel in a smoke filled casino. There is No Pool, No exercise room.||PROS: is a smoker gambler...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe hotel advertise as being renovated, esthetically pleasing, and exquisite but they definitely do NOT meet those standards. My stay was for ONE night on August 21st, 2025.........and I could not imagine staying another day as these are the things we encountered initially: |-Room 201: room had a broken shower head which deemed the shower head only useable if you hand held it to take a shower (not) but the other option was to take a bath which I don't do in any hotel. |-Room 203: room had 1 out of 2 beds that had lots of long strands of hair and crumbs in it as if someone didn't change the sheets or someone took a nap and/or break in the room while "cleaning" it. |-Room 515: this room was supposed to be an "upgrade" from the rooms on the 2nd floor...it was NOT!!!! The room looked almost identical to the rooms on the 2nd floor. There was a knife on the floor that housekeeping missed. There was residue left in the toilet so the toilet was deemed as not being cleaned. The water coming from the shower had an odor. |-There were also some guys who checked in right behind me who had complaints: their room was supposed to have double beds but had only one bed. |We changed rooms THREE times in the first 30 minutes of being at the hotel. This is unacceptable. The whole management team needs to be replaced/fired as they are not governing over these employees and rooms to make sure they meet certain standards of high expectations. Luckily, it was late and I only paid $80 (discount found online) because I was almost tempted to just sleep in my vehicle. DEFINITELY a 4/10.......would not want to stay here again unless it was FREE and then I would still...
