Nice property (big lakes and golf course) The outdoor pool is seasonal and was closed. Not much do in the late fall. This resort is shared with private residences.
I was assigned to a unit in the Lake Tara Garden section (2 bedrooms w/loft #389). Before I get into the bad, let me say it was nice to have a private unit, I didn't have to worry about my granddaughter being too loud or running over someone's head. I like that there are two enclosed balconies off both bedrooms. There is no balcony off the living room.
Now for the dislikes... unit is basically on stilts (concrete and wood), so there were 10 to 12 steps to get into the unit, and no lightning (make sure to leave your headlights on if you arrive in the dark).
Unit 389 - floors are uneven, the floor slance by the entry, kitchen, living room area, and the master bedroom bathroom. Speaking of master bedroom bathroom, it's horrible... NO SHOWER! It's a jacuzzi tub with a hand-held shower head hose deal. I felt like I was an animal in the zoo getting hosed down, and there is no counter space.
All of the tables (kitchen, end tables, and table in the bedroom) are wooden with a glass cover. Beware the glass isn't tempered, so DO NOT place anything hot on them... they will crack under pressure. (Kitchen table glass replacement $150.00).
The stairs to the loft were not up to code (railing not safe for small children as there are large gaps between rail slots, making it easy for a child to fall through), and very weak.
The second bedroom is right when you enter the unit.
The main bathroom has entryways from the second bedroom and the hallway. The toilet area is small and sits right by the hallway door.
OVERALL - My family made the best of things... we got through it and enjoyed our time together.
I highly doubt that I will ever stay ...
Read moreWe are Wyndham Owners and are used to 'above and beyond' places to stay. This stay was disappointing on many levels. I will start with the area. The area is very nice and the best time we had was walking around and taking in the view. We stay in Tara Villas. We were upgraded to a 2-bedroom loft from a 1 bedroom. The way this unit looked as a upgrade made me wonder what we would have been staying in with our original reservation. The unit needed to be updated. An old ceramic sink, stove worked but could be a newer model. First noticed we sunk into the couch and it was obvious it needed to be replaced. The cable connection was fair at best, would often freeze during shows. The Wifi was awful. It kept dropping us and we had to sign back in constantly. The sliding doors to the screened in porches were in need of WD-40 as they were very hard to open as were the shutters that you could slide over them for privacy. The jetted tub did not work and it looked like it might have been missing a door so you could shower. There were rules that you basically had to clean the unit before leaving. We are Wyndham owners (have been since 2005). and have housekeeping credits and this did not sit well with us as we usually do a good job picking up etc before we leave. The rules also continually threaten if you do this or don't do this you will be charged. Upon checking in the directions to our area were very confusing but eventually figured it out. It is a big place with people owning residences as well within the gated area. I hate that we had to use our points on this as it was very disappointing. We will not recommend this place because compared to Wyndham owned properties this property is a slum. Nathan and...
Read moreI rarely write reviews unless I had a horrible experience or an exceptionally good experience. This review fits into the former catagory. I'm not even sure where to start, capret is dirty, furniture is old, no place to put your clothes in the second bedroom of Tara Cove which was the bedroom we stayed in. The TV in the bedroom has a volume issue, goes up and down all by iself. Our unit was located on a view of the lake, which was beautiful. The unit has roaches and housekeeping and maintenance is only available until 8am - 5pm. Nothing on Sundays. The roaches are so bad and when we finally got maintenance before we left for the day, we came home to a note that said they sprayed and there was no evidence of roaches but the place did not smell of any kind of pesticide at all. There was no evidence of any treatment and the roaches are still there!!!!! They met us at the kitchen sink. We had to keep all food in the refridgerator! Then they had a "presentation" by a disgruntled former Fairfield/Wyndham employee to tell us how bad Wyndham was and how underhanded their sales tactics are but we can use his service to help us get out of our timeshare. Really? I will...
