Before I begin, I want to say that I am a business owner myself. I would be heartbroken if someone left me a poor review without giving me the opportunity to correct or improve something to bring the customer back.
My review is to help the business improve.
*Price: $50 bucks per person...Not worth it! The last time we came we spent $30 and got waaaaaaay more bang for our buck.
So here we go...
Cons- We were here for Easter and traveled from Virginia to see family.
Service- At a buffet, the waitress only has two things to do... Clear the plates and keep our drinks coming. She failed at both. Our plates were piling up and we only had one cocktail each and she never came back to ask if we wanted another drink. Almost everyone at the table ran out of water also.
*The business lost quite a bit of money on this because most of us probably would have had 2 drinks each and we had a party of 13.
Buffet: *NO Lamb: We all wanted lamb and they ran out and only allowed us one piece each. Some of us didn't get any at all. The ones that did get a piece, it was a small 1 to 2 ounce piece of lamb with the bone.
*NO Vegetables: They did have Caprisi salad but there were no hot or cold vegetables.
*Slim Pickings With Deserts: yes they did have a large table of Deserts so it wasn't a total bust, but in comparison to the last time we came they were slacking. They chose to do a yellow cake with peanut butter and chocolate icing thst was simular to those peanut butter and chocolate tasty cakes you buy at Wawa. They cut doughnuts in half also.
Ok so there are the pieces to improve on. These should be fairly easy to fix. Now I'm not a troll so let me finish up on the pros...
Pros:
Atmosphere: This country club is beutiful. The stone work and huge beutiful wood door as you enter the building was warm and inviting. They also had good parking and an area where you can drive up and drop off guests close to the door. This was great since we had several elderly guests with us. If you go out back to the porch outside, they have a nice view of the golf course, flowering trees which makes it a great place for pictures with the family.
Easter Bunny: We loved that they brought out the Easter bunny and the kids loved that. Hmmm wonder if they do a Easter egg hunt? If Not, they should because the gold course is huge and they have plenty of room.
Eating Area: The tables were all spaced nicely and it didn't feel cluttered or too tight of an area to dine at. Everything was very nice. They had table cloths, and did a nice job with the different colored napkins which gave the table a nice Easter feel to it.
Buffet: We loved that they served clams, oysters, and shrimp. They did have a nice selection of food, soups, Deserts, and choices. We also loved that they had several soups to choose from.
I honestly can keep going on about all the nice things that this country club has.
In summary, this is a country club and we just expected a but more for the money we spent.
I don't want to seem snobby, but a dress code would have been nice. Suits and jackets instead of jeans and flannel shirts really help to make the event nicer. I understand they are opening the club up to the public, but we some of these folks may have thought they were eating at the Sizzler instead of at a country club. Yep I said it.
Ok so there it is... You just got to step it up a little that's all.
We had a nice time overall and the...

The weather explicitly stated that there were flood warnings throughout the state yet they seemed so unprepared. They tried to stick us outside on barely wiped down lawn chairs. It started pouring about two minutes later so we had to rush in for the ceremony to be held in the ballroom (after all the bridesmaids were outside and in view of everyone. A few guests saw the bride at this point), which was kind of awkward. I think it could have been better managed if it were held outside under the covered deck (to the side rather than back) where all the staff had been running around before the event began.
I'm not the bride so I can't speak to that satisfaction but if you're using this venue, definitely have a rain plan set in place because they scrambled. We ended up in the ballroom which was beautiful but the view of the aisle is completely different.
Also, make sure you request a second bartender. The event coordinator was scrambling and filling so many roles, including bartender (which I and so many other guests respected), but if I was paying I would expect at least two bartenders. At the end of the night, I also heard that the coordinator had left before the rest of the staff.
I WILL say that the kitchen staff went above and beyond for one of our younger guests who wasn't prepared to eat the "adult" food. The chefs had all gone home and they opened the kitchen to make sure she ate. I felt like such a pain bothering the staff but they were all so kind.
IMO, everything was perfect besides the "rain date" event. So please plan for that! Loved all the caterers and a family member said that she had her own daughter getting married there the next day. Happy...
Read moreBeautiful place. Friendly staff. Great food. Pictures don't do it justice.---- 1st visit for a reunion.
This place went from a 5 star to a 2. It's still beautiful and most of the staff was friendly but that's about it. I went to another event here it was terrible. There wasn't food served that I could eat except salad which was romaine lettuce and dressing so they said they would get me a plate of vegetables....over an hour later I was still waiting. We asked multiple times where it was and received the same reply "Sorry, we're very busy".Some of us we're put in a separate room from the main event and had completely different music and because the room was a closed off patio in the middle of winter it was cold in spite of their attempt at heat. We missed most of what was going on unless we wanted to go stand in the other room the entire time and I was stuck waiting for my food anyway. Some of the people at my table asked for coffee and the waitresses left and came back and said there were no cups on our table so we would have to go get our own at the coffee bar, wherever that was. I finally left early I had checked my coat there was no one there to retrieve my coat so I had to go get the bartender to do it. There was more parking so they had valets parking the car they got my car and the guy got out and walked off in a different direction didn't even say anything to me after he got my car. It was a pretty awful experience and I would not pay money to go there again.-----2nd visit for...
