All things considered, for free camping, nothing beats this spot. Just keep in mind, there are no facilities, and the roads are not maintained. I got there on a Friday night and nearly every spot was taken. I got lucky and managed to fit my 35 ft travel trailer on a tent site. It is slow going on the roads. I did about a 1/2 mile per hour to get in and out. It is do-able though... At least, it's do-able if the roads are dry.
Also, it looks like they are starting work on the access road to the highway to the north. This will hinder you if you are going to Zion. Obviously the road construction won't take forever so just check to see if the road is closed if you plan on utilizing the campground close to the date of...

However on 4/6/21 at 1:40am im 99.9% sure I was the victim of some kind of artificial wind test conducted by utc aerospace on the hurricane mesa that overlooks this camping area it was extremely scary and unexplainable. Weather reports have no record of extreme winds anywhere near the virgin area that morning. There are a couple roads that have pretty good-sized ruts in them, but if you take it slow you'll have no issue. We have stayed here on 4 different occasions, all in different spots and no complaints. Very close to Hurricane, La Verkin, and not far from Washington/St. George. There are 2 close dump stations as well! Not to mention a stones throw from Zion National Park, Sand Hallow, Snow Canyon, and Quail Creek State Park!
We share more about the location on our YouTube channel -...
