This was year #8 for us at White Eagle Resort! It was meant to be a one time super special vacation with our 3 adults kids and grandkids, and it was beyond our expectations. BUT, we never realized it would become a most anticipated annual event that is the FAVORITE week of the year. Just can't say enough. ||We stay in Osprey which is such a gorgeous "cabin" with a rustic look but all the modern conveniences including 2 kitchens for our big crew. The woods all around make it feel luxurious and private. The cleanliness of the cabins and resort are legendary! It's helpful that Osprey even has a very nice washer and dryer in the cabin! || But I think the warm fuzzies we feel as we think about White Eagle have to do with Tom & Steph. They are just wonderful owners that have become friends! They and their sweet kids are just precious. || The beach is such a hot spot for us as well with our grandkids (and our big kids) to enjoy the big water toys out in the lake as well as the sweet kid kayaks (also adult kayaks), paddle boards, etc. ||Renting and enjoying a jet-ski has become a big part of our vacation as well, and the young dock staff have all been so friendly and helpful. The pontoon we get is always super nice and comfortable for our large crew. I think when we leave, that pontoon just knows the way to Moosebirds for our daily ice cream adventure : ) || We hope to be coming each summer to White Eagle with our growing family for many many...
Read moreWhite Eagle Resort is an amazing, second-generation family-owned resort. The resort is beautiful, well kept, and in a protected area on Head of the Lakes Bay that is perfect for swimming, fishing, and boating. There is a great beach with water toys for the little kids (kid kayaks, inflatables, and beach toys) as well as kayaks, SUPs, and canoes for the grown-up kids. All the water equipment is on a help-yourself basis. When our kids weren’t in the water, fishing, playing foosball, on a jet ski, or getting dragged behind the boat, they were making friends with the other kiddos at the resort or goofing around with Timber or one of the other pups. I can see why so many families talk about their “White Eagle week” and book the same week each year so their kids can keep in touch summer after summer. Although we spent a lot of time on the resort side, we stayed at The Island, which is a 3 minute boat ride away. The Cabin(s) was beautiful, quiet, and private. The Island has its own private sauna, washer/dryer, boathouse, beach, swim platform, canoe, kayaks, and multiple docks for swimming/fishing. If there’s a criticism somewhere, I guess it’s that the internet was super-fast on the Island, which meant I still had to do my Zoom/video calls. In all seriousness, it was nice to let the kids relax and watch a Bluey after a day at the beach and inflatable water park. Thanks to Tom and Steph, as well as Caleb, Owen, and Natalie for taking such great care of the family. See you...
Read moreWe have been coming to White Eagle for several years in groups ranging from 3-10 people with fishing as our primary goal. I'll get right to the point: If you are looking for a place to stay on the west side of Vermilion, look no further. The cabins are always clean, well appointed and ready for us as are the boats our group rents. The staff and owners are always kind and abundantly helpful. If fishing isn't your primary objective they have something for everyone including canoes and kayaks, a sandy beach with games, a game room with ping pong and table shuffle board, and several bonfire rings that are always stacked with firewood and seating. The dock help is wonderful including one college-aged fellow who is the son of a local guide who can tell you everything you need to know from where to fish, have a nice shore lunch, hike the Black Bay Trail or how to operate any aspect of your vessel. You will find that your rental boat is always cleaned off, wiped down and gassed up each morning. The bait selection is good too (some guides actually buy their bait from here). And the icing on the cake is that for the past couple of years they have a "pet" northern that hovers around their main dock who enjoys the occasional treat from guests. We've always enjoyed our time here and think that...
