We camped at Speegleville COE in September 2020. There is a park called Speegleville RV that turns to the right just before the entrance of this campground. Do not turn in there! Continue straight to Speegleville Park. We had site #23 on the lake. It had a covered picnic area, grill, firepit, and picnic table. The site was level and utilities worked as they should. We were able to get several tv stations out of the air and our cell phones (Spectrum Mobile) worked. Most sites looked the same but we saw a couple without a roof over the patio. A couple of the sites were not as level as most but were still workable even for motorhomes. We never saw employees in the campground area but only up at the gate. The real negative was the bathhouse. A notice was posted on the door stating that the bathhouse would be cleaned on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday I think. I must have missed which month! These bathrooms were horrible. The toilets had paper but that was the only evidence of "cleaning." There were about six shower rooms wrapped around the building. The only one that seemed clean had the door torn off. The men's and women's toilets were located in rooms on the side. The grass around the campground was pretty long. I don't think we would ever return because of the...

$5.00 for parking pass. There was a kiosk at the entrance gate, but was not in use on the Thursday afternoon we went.
Sandy beach area for towels and sand castle building. Little swimming portion of Lake Waco is circled out in the water. Water gets about 5'6" where we swam (the middle). The bottom is a clay/dirt mixture with a few rocks and wood branches sticking up. (No lifevests on site - bring your own)
Free shower rooms available with warm to hot water. Male and female bathrooms with multiple stalls with doors. No soap to wash, but sinks and air dryers.
Grass is dry and might be seasonal.
Multiple covered/cabana picnic tables and a very large covered shelter which you can reserve for really large events.
Very large covered playground...
Read moreI almost hate to leave a great review for this little hidden gem of a campground. This was our first time to visit and we were not disappointed. The sites are really spaced apart nicely with great views of the lake (we were in site #29). It is also very peaceful. The campground is only about 20 minutes away from all the things to do in Waco. For those who watch the YouTube videos on the campground, they have paved the road down now and the bathroom door is fixed. The bathrooms are your typical COE -- meh but doable. The time we went they were clean. They have a wonderful lady who greets you at the gate. She really makes you feel welcome. The camp hosts come around every once in a while, so you do feel a sense of security. Our family would definitely stay here again if...
