DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE - IT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE WHEN YOU ARRIVE!!!!! Negative stars should be available.
On April 23, 2019, I reserved a room for one night - Friday 26th July. I spoke with the owner by phone, provided credit card info then received a confirmation email with booking ref#.
On July 26th, I drove 6 hours and arrived around 5:30pm. At the reception I handed my confirmation print out (complete with reservation #) was informed they had no record of my booking and they had no rooms for that evening. After a fruitless exchange with the girl on reception (who kept repeating how she did not know anything, was new, was sorry and didn't know how to use the computer properly), I asked to speak to the owner. The receptionist spoke with him then when I tried to call him he did not answer.
This particular week is busy due to an Indian Chief festival nearby, so I knew rooms were hard to find. However, the receptionist said another hotel some 30 mins away may have availability. I was very lucky to find that had one room left (although it was $40 more expensive).
It seemed clear to me that this outfit let my room out - possibly to a drive-by guest. The really odd thing is that the receptionist mumbled that the owner said he'd tried calling me a few days earlier. Only later when I thought about this did I realize that had this been true, how did he have my details, considering he did not have my booking! I actually received a further confirmation email from this motel on June 29.
So, I suggest you make alternative arrangements if you are thinking about this motel. The phrase "dodged a bullet" comes to mind. Between the vaping, tattoo-covered receptionist to the owner who was too pathetic to speak to me on the phone, to the bleak-looking, down-trodden look and feel of this motel, I am in retrospect, quite glad I did not end up...
Read moreWe stayed here. The bed was so bad, my disabled husbands back couldnt take it. We picked this place based upon TripAdvisor recommendation, had never been here before. The owner was pretty proud of the place, charged us $85 per night for a $35 per night experience. We paid for 2 nights, stayed 1 night because the bed was so bad. owner did not refund, no big deal, our bad for booking sight unseen, live and learn right?
well, I post a review on trip advisor, like a 2 because pretty overpriced for crap motel and this guy is working the social media to get online awards and this place is yuck.
No big deal right? WRONG. The dude responds to my review on trip advisor with this long story/rant about blah blah blah and how my mom paid for the room... etc, etc, etc, sorry the RimRock Inn was full and how great his motel really is, talk about my mom??? My mom, is dead over ten years! NOW THE MAGGOT IS JUST PISSING ME OFF. Trip advisor wont let me respond, so it looks like my honest review is bs. I uninstalled trip advisor, I tell EVERYONE I know what a sham Trip Advisor is, and honest to gosh, Mingo motel is ok, if you want a motel 6 experience with an 80s log cabin decor for $35 a night, but at $85 per night? pretty...
Read moreI went to far NE oregon one week and stayed in Enterprise for two nights then Joseph for a night. A week or two later I went again and stayed at the Mingo so I could get up early and drive through the mountains to Troy. From Troy I went to Joseph via hwy 3 and was going to stay two nights there, again. After one night at Joseph (hotel/motel) I packed up and went back to the Mingo for the last night. Bottom line, the Mingo was better in every way than those other places. I stayed at two different rooms at the Mingo. They have concrete block walls, much quieter. The Mingo was better furnished, more table surface, a full-on love seat, and the AC was more quiet. The place on main street in Joseph was literally twice the cost for half the comfort...I'll never go back there. The town of Wallowa is smaller, more quiet, and more redneck than those other towns, but has everything I want and need......so...
