Beautiful Park, but, not dog friendly ! Your segregated from the rest of the campers, and have no access to full hook ups! Not mentioned anywhere in their advertisement ! Pulled in to stay at our reserved site #151, backed in, and realizes we only had electric ! We hadn't planned on not having a water hook up, and after unit ching the travel trailer, didn't want to hook up again, just to fill our tanks for water. We did dump at the last state Park upon leaving so we did have empty black and grey tanks. So... we carried water in jugs back to our camper as needed. They do have access to water spigot throughout the park. The bath houses are outdated, kind of Skevey, so I used my own bath mat to stand on while showering ! The water pressure was nice, plenty of hot water, and they did have 2 big utility sinks for washing dishes at each bath house. The sites are pretty much shaded so our TV antenna only picked up 4 stations, none of which we could zero in on clearly ! No Internet, I have t-mobile for my phone carrier, and have the " one" plan, similar to binge on, as long as you use your phone for viewing the shows your watching. So..my disabled husband spent his time viewing movies on my phone ! I tried mirroring but it would only mirror for about an hour then the phone would shut out the mirror and I'd have to turn it back on, only to have it shut off again in minutes, something I think had to do with the mobile ! So, if your not into the outdoors, bring plenty of movies for your viewing pleasure ! The sites, most of them anyway, have trees between each site, a plus for privacy ! Most are fairly level , and the sites are scattered with large pebbles / rocks, no cement patios. The other thing that bothered me, you can't move the picnic tables, they're bolted down, I had to duck under the arms of my awning to get in and out of my door, bc they also have a cement log, to keep you from backing in to far. Our door was right at the picnic table no matter how far you pulled forward, to keep from blocking traffic with your tow vehicle. Bottom line, would I stay here again, NO !! And...no parking on grass, is a...
ย ย ย Read moreSome beautiful sites. Sad lack of security, quiet & peace. Had 4 specific insecure experiences + more in 27 hours. Skipped my 2nd (prepaid) night & went home to Baltimore for peace, security, & quiet!!
At checkin, the office told me to continue to my reserved site - no id, name, or resv confirmation asked for. Seemed odd. At my site I found two people sitting in their lounge chairs. Not registered campers. They left, but all afternoon people walked & drove by, peering & pointing into occupied sites! After sunset, a strange man walked onto my site uninvited and unasking!! Ugh! Not OK! He obviously even observed my discomfort, because he said "I come in peace." (Meaningless from a trespassing stranger!) But he continued talking, asking personal questions repeatedly! I was too surprised to think to ask him to leave. He eventually said who he was, & invited me to an event. Not cool, Jim, and the campground!! The next day, I returned to the site finding new next door neighbors. But the man was on his phone staring straight into my site. The woman was holding a dog - in this non-pet section of the campground. I nodded hello and went to open up my lounge chairs. Then the dog started barking. I went back and politely asked if they were camping. They were not! I politely asked if they knew about the large pet camping area. They did. I wished them a good day and walked back into my site. I sat down, tried to relax and the loudest festival-type music started blasting. After about 20 mins I tried to reach the camp staff by phone to ask about the music. Left a voice message - no reply. The nearest camp host appeared to be packing up when I drove in. The other camp host would require me to get back in the car. I figured that at best they might get someone to eventually ask the music to be turned down. Or maybe I would get to continue a noisy evening. No peace in nature was found. I decided it would feel more restful to drive home to Baltimore for peace, quiet...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is definitely a campground... The bad-- the water has been out for three days Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday maybe) That means most people have gone three days without showers, running water, or using a proper toilet. Instead there is one portapotty PER BATHHOUSE (which generally had 10 stalls total when open). They tell us to use the utility sinks, which have running water but no soap. Seems fine if you have a water tank, but for us in the yurts, it's absolutely awful.
Campground staff say it's because of a water main break off site, but they have just locked the bathhouses and put zip ties on the water pumps so I assume that there is still water around, the just want to conserve it. This is absurd and bordering on a violation.
I would put at least 10k on the assumption that nobody else in the region (private homes) is undergoing the same treatment(forced to use no water at all) but hundreds of people at this park are deprived of water. Why not have water hours, so we can take a shower and use a bathroom for a set amount of time per day? They said it would be fixed by Sunday night or Monday (it wasn't) and now it's Tuesday morning and I'm not optimistic.
I think this is a super cool place most years, but when you factor in the lake is drained so we can't swim, the brief power outage on Friday, and the three/four days without water I can't recommend this place. Other reviewers mentioned the bad shower conditions. Yeah, they're gross looking, but seem clean enough and just wear shower shoes. Staff might be a little rude, but I like the quiet hour enforcement (though I did get chased by some woman ranger for "rolling through" the stop sign that I definitely could have let someone else go if it were necessary but whatever). Maybe...
