As other reviewers have said, Brenda is the perfect hostess. I've stayed at many B&B's with many wonderful hosts and hostesses, Brenda is tops. I honestly was sad to leave.||||I gave it a five star location rating because it was very convenient for me, it depends on where you need to be. It is out in the country and about a half hour south of Iowa City. Ask Brenda for directions, GPS is hit and miss.||||Breakfast is wonderfully delicious, a buffet if serving several people (that varies from day to day) and if just a couple people, she suggests "ordering" the night before, from a pre printed list, which is extensive. I never ate lunch during my stay in Iowa! She also places a carafe of fresh hot coffee outside of your room door in the morning, such a nice treat. She is also very flexible about breakfast times, early, late, doesn't matter.||||The home is gorgeous, yesterday I saw a beautiful fog rolling in over farmland, through rays of sunlight, through my window. Her outdoor animals are charming and if you ask, she may let you feed carrots to them. The home is impeccably clean, with plenty of sitting and relaxing space, beautiful woodwork, etc. I felt right at home.||||She provides snacks and a frig of sodas and waters, and invites people to help themselves. She also has a convenient full size guest frig for leftovers if needed (eg if one has gone to a restaurant for dinner).||||I can't say enough nice things about so Dear to My Heart, if I were in the area again it would be my first choice of accommodation. I came to visit relatives I hadn't seen for a long time, had a wonderful time with them, and the stay at Brenda's B&B doubled the joy.||||Thanks so much for a...
Read moreStayed with my hubby here during Covid in July. Felt completely comfortable and safe. Brenda is a great hostess with a fun sense of humor. We arrived while she was mowing the yard on the riding mower and apologized for not being presentable. My hubby took one look at the mower and said he would finish the yard. I think it was his favorite part of the road trip from California to Michigan. The farmhouse was beautifully appointed and the surrounding area peaceful. Brenda gave us ideas and directions to nearby places for dinner. Families with children would enjoy the farm, horses, donkey, chickens , and cats. Fire pit, lovely shaded benches to relax around. We did not stay for breakfast for two reasons, a- not big on eating when driving for 8 hours, and b- a storm was closing in and we wanted to stay ahead of it. If we had stayed for two nights, we would have definitely enjoyed the fresh eggs and breakfast she could have made us. This BnB It may be off the beaten path, but so...
Read moreI always have a great time staying at So Dear To My Heart Bed & Breakfast in SE Iowa. Brenda's home is so relaxing and has a wonderful atmosphere. It was very peaceful sitting outside with the beautiful weather talking with the owner. It was like hanging out with a longtime friend. She is a fantastic host and very accommodating. Along with her nice home and beautiful surroundings, she has her outdoor family too. From horses to chickens and more in pastures, pens and barns. If you haven't had the opportunity to meet an Alpaca, here's your chance. Even Eeyore lives here. My last visit was for two nights and I awoke each day refreshed and relaxed. So Dear To My Heart Bed & Breakfast is a hidden gem. This place is a great place for a getaway or a start and ending point for day trips. I have already planned several return visits for 2017. Be sure and google her B&B's name and add "Disney" for the source...
