We have been big Lorretta Lynn fans for years. We saw a bill board off of I40 about her ranch. We decided to give it a try. On october 7th, 2021, we called her ranch and spoke to Jessica about making a reservation. I asked her a number of questions regarding the camp sites. (1) will the sites accept a 43' motorhome towing a vehicle, she responded "yes" (2) are the sites full hook up with 50 amp, she responded "yes they are" (3), are the sites level as we needed to have a level site or our slide out rooms would not operate if the coach was not completely level, safety system built into our coach, she responded "yes" they are level. On October 9th, we arrived at the campground and were in fact greeted by Jessica who took our reservation. At that time, we found out that the sites are first come first served and also, there was a large motorcycle event being held somewhere on the property. After checking in, we were instructed to drive into the Stagecoach area to find a site. After driving through the area, we found only two sites that were vacant. Upon looking over the sites, we found that the sites would not even come close to accomodating a 43' motorhome towing. The roads in the camping area are not meant for large RV's. Trying to leave the camping area proved to be a nightmare. A large amount of trees were not trimmed properly, the roads are very narrow. We had to unhook our towed vehcile in order to be able to make the turns. We finally made our way back to the office where Jessica was working. Upon exiting our coach, we noticed that our new $15,000 paint job was scratched due to the untrimmed tress. We told Jessica what happened in the camping area and there was absolutely no sites that would accomodate our size coach. I told Jessica that all of the info about the campground that I asked during the reservation call, was in fact not true. Jessica was very apologetic and apologized several times for all of our problems we incurred. She told us three seperate times that as soon as the manager came back to the office, she would have the manager refund our card $81.47 for the two nights we had reserved and paid for in advance. As of this writing, we have not seen a dime. We wrote two letters, one to the campground manager and one to Lorretta Lynn herself, neither letter has been answered. I called three times to ask about the staus of the refund. I spoke to Jessica twice who blamed the manger for not completeing the refund, the other call I spoke to another lady there who gave me an entirely different excuse. It has been one excuse after another and still have not recieved the $81.47 refund we were promised. We are extremely disapponited with this campground and especailly Lorretta Lynn herself for allowing this kind of treatment to customers and fans. I'm sure Lorretta Lynn has a management team who runs her businesses. Obviously her people are not properly trained and her managers are not doing there job either. Anyone thinking of staying at this campground had better beware, and if you have a large RV, look...
Read moreSpent the last 5 days at Lorettas Ranch w family from Florida, Georgia and Ohio and wanted to leave an honest review here. We pulled in Monday 6/19 after the Jeep Fest and parked up on Stagecoach Hill spots 25-27 full hook up. I did my research weeks before coming down so I was as prepared as I could be so when we checked in Monday we were told that the Camp Store on the hill there would be open Wed or Thursday but it had not been opened, only for special events we found out. If you wanted cell service you would have to purchase Wifi which was $10 per device per day and they will tell you connection is not guaranteed. I don't recall seeing this charge on the website? (If you stand in the road in that big crack in front if the clubhouse/restrooms you get cell service) Speaking of the bathrooms, they weren't cleaned until Thursday night and the showers are a hot mess. They have Washers and Dryers there and only 2 work. When we asked about the laundry facility we were told that it was farmed out to an independent Contractor and they had Nothing to do with it and couldn't help That being said I am used to the bare minimum but I was camping with elderly in laws that needed the amenities that were offered. Come prepared, that's all! I will say the Maint. guys worked their tails off in the rain taking care of the property Things you must do: Eat breakfast across the street at Cissys Store, excellent food and the finest folk around. They'll get your belly full (Loretta Lynns Restaurant is not affiliated with her Dude Ranch at all) Have dinner at the Log Cabin in Waverly, we've never had a bad meal there (Try the Jalapeno Honey Butter Cornbread) Go to Gutter Bound Distillery and try the Lemonade Moonshine and buy a bottle, mix it w Sweet Tea, You're welcome for that recipe Last but not least take the tour of Lorettas Museum and Homestead. We had the sweetest guide who shared lots of history about the town and Loretta and her family, she was full of energy and so charming. Tip her well when you get off the bus....she earns every penny. Signed, The...
Read moreThere appear to be two campground areas at this facility - a lower and upper area. The lower/larger campground contains grassy lots with water and electricity that were fairly easy to get into. Very few slots have fire rings - although firewood was provided. You'd likely stay in this particular area if you were visiting as part of an animal/horse-related event or a motocross event. I did not like the shower/commode area and do not think I'd make regular use of it. The wi-fi signal was strong but, for some reason, mostly useless.
The upper campground, for lack of a better term, is more pleasant with lots of mature trees alongside pull-thru slots with full hook ups. I suggest camping in this area - not the lower campground. There are also cute cabins for those without RVs. We went off-season so the small on-site store was understandably closed, but the game room (old school video games and pool tables) was open as were the showers and such there. The laundry room was open and is in the same large area as the game room.
There's another general store across the street from the campground with supplies and food, and we bought things there several times. The staff there was great.
The mansion, mill, and related attractions are a short drive away (but not within walking distance) and were a bit touristy as expected. Several gift/souvenir shops and such make up most of what's there, and the mill and related falls are beautiful. The entire staff (some of whom said they are relatives of Mrs. Lynn) was absolutely wonderful wherever we went on property and should make Mrs. Lynn proud. They obviously care about the place and are assets to the property. We took home a few souvenirs and sauces and have enjoyed them since.
We'll return at some point but will stay in the upper campground to enjoy the shade. Overall a...
