When traveling we elect to stay at a Mariott Courtyard or a Fairfield Inn by Marriott, due to comfortable beds, clean rooms, lovely lobby area and competent staff. I reserved a room at the Fairfield Inn in Waxahachie for four nights. I notified the hotel we would be a late arrival. We arrived at 8:00 pm. The young front desk girl was very nice, but harried due to having to take care of too many things at once. A loud buzzer kept going off every 30 to 45 seconds and she would have to rush from front desk to turn off the buzzer. She said it was to be repaired soon. She checked us in and gave us the room keys. Upon getting to the room, we realized it was too small, close quarters, for us to be comfortable, with only one chair,. I called the front desk and asked her if we might have another roller chair. She asked the manager and said no chairs were available. We told her we needed a larger room, and asked if we could be upgraded. She said she needed to ask the manager. She called back and said there was a larger room, but we’d need to pay the upgraded fee. We told her we weren’t asking for a free upgrade, just a larger room. We went to the front desk and returned our room keys and obtained keys to the larger room. I asked her the additional charge for the larger room, and she said $20.00. We went to the larger room. The mattress and pillows were so uncomfortable that we had a miserable night. My husband couldn’t sleep and tried to sleep on the sofa that was too uncomfortable as well. He finally went downstairs to the lobby at 5:00 am. I came down at 6:00 am and joined him for coffee. We checked out at 8:00 am and I made reservations at the Marriott Courtyard Midlothian, where I should have made reservations to begin with. When checking the emailed invoice for the night, our charge was $29 additional. We will never stay at the Fairfield in Waxahachie again. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Flagstaff, Arizona, about 2 weeks ago, and based on that awesome Hotel, superb staff, excellent breakfast, great rooms and awesome beds & comfortable mattresses, I decided to book the one in Waxachatchie....
Read moreI stayed here for 5 nights this trip. (I always stay here when I'm in town, about 10 nights this year.) My third night the people above me were stomping around and dropping things for over an hour and a half. I called the front desk twice and nothing was done. As I was leaving for the day I asked the front desk if I could move rooms. The lady said she would have a manager contact me. That never happen.
The fourth night, the same upstairs neighbors keep doing the same thing. I called again, and a few minutes later the people upstairs pound again on the floor several times in a row. I give it another 30 minutes, call again and for a second time and ask to switch rooms. The lady said she would call a manager and see what she could do. I assume this means she was getting permission to upgrade me because there weren't any other rooms at my price point. (I get the military rate.) Calls back and says there is nothing they can do, and that I'm free to file a noise complaint with the police if I want. She said she could call the offending room again, but if they say they aren't making noise then there is nothing she can do.
I have never had this happen before at a hotel, and I travel a lot with the military. Terrible customer service and handling of absolutely rude and belligerent guest. I have to wake up at 5am, and right now it is 12:23 am, and they are still pounding away upstairs. Not even my white noise app can cover the noise.
I know they don't care, but I will not be back. I even overlooked the fact that my last trip they charged me the entire tax even though I was supposed to be tax exempt and filled out...
Read moreI had a very poor experience with my stay. We arrived at around 11pm and were told that our room was not yet ready....at 11pm! The front desk person didn't have a mask on when we came in, she found one and put it on. The second person (possibly a manager) had her mask on, but it was below her nose. She went up to sanitize our room (not giving us much confidence in the sanitization) and we were able to go up after that.
Once we got in, we saw that the room was 2 queens and not the King bed that I had reserved. After that, we noticed that the bathroom hand towel had clearly been used as it was not properly hung and the larger one was stained with makeup or something (took pictures). The front desk had said there were no other rooms available, so we tossed it to the side and went to bed.
We additionally, found that the room's temperature was fluctuating between hot and cold and the bed extremely firm.
The next morning, we discovered that there was no soap for the shower, only the one bar for the sink. We also found it strange that housekeeping knocked on the door before 9am.
Lastly, when dropping off the room key, the lady working had her mask on below her nose and most of her mouth was uncovered too. When she asked if we were checking out, she pulled her mask completely down to say that to us.
This was the worst experience I've had at a Marriott. During a pandemic this certainly did not inspire faith in your sanitation practices or safety. I am very disappointed in this, especially as a Gold member. I will certainly not be returning to...
