More than half of the people we saw had on their swimwear because it's the middle of summer and they have a swimming area there. They do not have the swimming area open. It was a big bummer. , If they open the swimming area, they can bring in a bit of revenue and make a lot of people happy
There was a huge event happening where hundreds of people were there. They were having boat rides, miniature golf, fishing Etc. .. but the swimming area doesn't open till Memorial Day. This event was on May 19th. It really wouldn't hurt to have the swimming area open during that event. Out of my five grandchildren, one was fishing, the others came in their swimsuits ready to play in the water and didn't get to. It bummed them out. It's very close to Memorial Day, I don't understand why it couldn't be open. Other than that we all love the park, and have for years. Read moreI love that park. It's clean, you can cook on grills installed in picnic pads throughout the wooded area next to the beach. You can rent pavilions for large parties. There are all sorts of sporting events you can partake in, baseball diamonds volleyball courts, and many more. Plenty of activities for kids available including mini golf, playgrounds climbing toys, and I'm sure there's more I just can't think of right now. Then there's the water, swimming in season, rental of paddle boats canoes and kayaks. There is a public boat launch but I'm not sure what the invitations are on the boats but there are definitely some motors I see running on the lake. There are walking trail, hiking trails and most of the park is pet friendly. So much more but I'm sure if you are not getting tired of reading this already...
Read moreGot to hike today for the first time at Cane Creek. It was one of those beautiful Carolina spring days. I typically look for more strenuous trails but I was short on time today. I was pleasantly surprised. The people at the gate could not have been more friendly or helpful. I hiked the purple trail which took about 1:45. I did not see a single wrapper on the trail....spotless the entire way. The trail markers could use some updating but I managed not to get lost. The trails were in great shape though one low area had me stepping on rocks to avoid getting into the stream which I do not mind at all except one of the rocks I stepped on moved and I could have easily gone down. The views of the creek/lake today were fantastic. There was definitely horse manure to look out for....
