Not bad. The Good & The Bad
The BAD: • Mea Culpa. I booked on line for an amount of $182.06. When I received my credit card statement, they billed me for an additional $27.75 for a “single night booking”. I went back to the website to see why and it was listed in the fine print. Nonetheless, I wish this charge would have appeared on the site when I booked it, not surprised me when I received my credit card statement. • No television. It was not listed in the amenities so I should not have assumed it would be there. • Poor (weak) WiFi connection. • The public grill and outdoor eating area . . . what happens if several families all want to use it at the same time? • There were fireworks going off nearby and it woke us from a sound sleep. I understand this is not in their control, but this was not a holiday weekend so I wonder if this happens often.
The GOOD: • The room was very clean and spacious. • We were able to check into our room effortlessly. • There is a public grill and outdoor eating area....
Read moreWe camped here in July of 2022. They just opened this year. The owners are super friendly and helpful and gave us a tour of the lodge. And one night they helped put away an iPad we left outside and it blew up a storm. We had 2 spots on the river. 30A electric and water fill-up. Beautiful community deck over the river, no traffic anywhere, and only a handful of sites total so it can’t get crowded. The kids were in the river non-stop. We fished, swam, bird watched and had a very relaxing few days. They have a single large bathroom for campers, but that was enough. Sites are pretty level with gravel pads. Electric hookups are well placed. Lots of shade.
Before we left we booked a long weekend for next year.
The lodge is great too if you aren’t camping. Beautiful community outdoor kitchen, they have a big green egg for smoking! The owners have really put a lot of work into this place and it shows. I almost don’t want to leave a review, to keep...
Read moreWe spent a deeply restful evening at the lodge just after they opened, and were impressed with the overall environment and hospitality. Our room was well-furnished, and there were dishes provided both at the coffee station and in the outdoor kitchen, over looking the river
The Juniata River and surrounding natural wildlife is what makes the Lodge truly magical. If waking up to birdsong and watching the mist lift off a mountainside isn't your thing, feel free to sleep in and soak up the afternoon summer sun, go for a swim or enjoy the stars from the dock late at night. The peace sinks into your soul. I hear there are golf courses nearby and that the fishing is good, but we went for the hiking...
