Unfortunately, if you have to stay in Waynesboro, the Hurricane Inn is about the only option. Here’s how my stay went. My wife and I checked in around 7 or so Sunday night. After getting in the room we realized the toilet was not working. I went to the front desk and the manager came back to my room to check it himself. When he realized it wasn’t working he originally said he would have a plumber come the next day. I said what am I supposed to do to use the bathroom? I said I expected some sort of discount if he expected us to walk to the front office every time we need a toilet. At the mention of a discount he said he would call a plumber. The plumber came and started working. I asked the manager about switching rooms. He said there were no more rooms, they were full. After a few hours of not being about to fix the toilet, the manager finally said he did have another room but it was bigger and would be more expensive. I told him there was no way I was paying more for a room due to a problem in this room. He finally said ok and we moved to a different room. It wasn’t until till the afternoon the next day (Monday) when the plumber said he fixed the toilet. We moved back into the room. The toilet worked fine the remainder of the day. The next morning (Tuesday) it stopped working again. I had words with the manager and told him it still wasn’t working right. He argued that he tried to fix it. I said that wasn’t good enough. I said I expect some kind of discount when I check out on Wednesday. He said “why, I tried to fix it, there would be no discount.” I told him he better get someone out here to fix it then. The plumber showed up again as well as a couple of employees from the city. They had to blow out a clog in the main line. After this it seemed to work fine. ||||Now, I travel for work about 50% of the year. I don’t expect things to be perfect but I do have what I think are a few low level expectations, like working electricity, a relatively clean room and a functioning toilet. My biggest frustration was this managers lack of empathy and customer service. The motel/hotel industry is a customer service industry. His top priority should be keeping customers happy. He didn’t care one way or another if we had a working toilet or not. He wasn’t concerned and didn’t plan on doing anything until the next day until I started mentioning a discount. All he is concerned about is money and it’s clear not much money is going back into the hotel. I was with a group of about 15 or so people that had approximately 10 rooms for three nights. Several refrigerators did not work properly, bathroom doors would not close and latch, a sink wouldn’t drain, toilet paper was stuffed in holes around the shower, cigarette burns and stains on the sheets and one mattress looked like someone died on it. The person in the room with the mattress did complain and the managers wife came to the room, laughed and put new sheets on the bed. My advice, stay in Lawrenceburg or Savannah and save yourself a lot of headache...
Read moreWe were supposed to have a two night stay at the hurricane inn. We dropped off our bags in the room a little after 3pm on Friday and returned back around 10 pm that same night. Upon returning to the room, we found cockroaches by the fridge, under the chair in our room, and one in the bed itself. The gentleman working the desk came to the room, killed a couple of roaches, and just said sorry and left. I went back to the front desk and requested another room but were told there were none available. Due to it being so late, two people from our group slept in the car and the other two slept in a different room as we were lucky enough to have been traveling with other family members. On Saturday we ended up staying in a different hotel 30 miles away. We were told we would be refunded for the first night and not charged for the second night. We never slept in our room that we booked. We were charged for two nights and only refunded one night. Just an awful experience. There were other people who left the hotel on Friday as well due to having cockroaches found in...
Read moreI don't normally write reviews, that being said, I definitely had to let everyone know about great this place is. The moment we drove up in the clean and tidy parking lot we were greeted by the family that runs the place. Very kind people that make you feel at home. While the room is basic the bed is the softest my husband and I have slept in while on the road for the past week, and we have been staying at top top name brand hotels. Most hotel rooms have 1 table and 1 chair, this hotel has 2 tables and 3 chairs and a chair outsideof each room, big windows so that each room can see the beautiful sunsets. It also had brand new A/C units. It's an older hotel that you can tell the family really takes pride in. Breakfast is simple. Breakfast breakfast bars, cereals, toast, waffle machine, and fresh coffee. They have a covered area at the end of the hotel with plenty of chairs tables and barbecue pits. Felt like home away from home. I don't know if we will ever pass this way again but if we do, we will absolutely stay here!! We loved this amazing place. Thank you...
