My wife and I stayed in the Paddlers Paradise cabin three nights over Presidents Day weekend. It was a simple check-in process with a lockbox at the cabin door. The cabin was clean and very cozy for us - comfy bed, small dining table, TV with standard DirecTV package, microwave, coffee maker, and small fridge. There was a space heater that was sufficient to keep the cabin warm during a pretty chilly weekend.

The campground has a great view of the French Broad River, which was quite full and moving swiftly while we were there, providing great natural background noise. The campground was also clean. There is some traffic and train noise. We already knew this having stayed at a similar place just a mile or so south on Old Marshall Hwy.

The shower in the shared bathroom is challenging, as some other reviewers have noted. It gets extremely hot very quickly when the tankless heater kicks on. When you turn the faucet back toward cold, the heater shuts off and you have a few seconds of warm water before it goes ice cold (in the winter anyway). I suggest just getting your washcloth wet, turn the water off, lather up, turn the water back on and rinse quickly before it goes cold. It's not a shower to hang out in for 10-15 minutes.

It's worth noting that there were not many other people at Camp Driftwood while we were there. There were only 5 or 6 other people there the first two nights (two in each of the other two cabins and one tent site). Then we had the entire campgrounds to ourselves the last night. I wonder how busy that bathroom gets during the peak summer season (there is a port-a-potty in the tent site area that would hopefully help alleviate that).

Although this is a bit north of Asheville, it does not take long to drive down there. It's also convenient to hiking (Richmond Hill south and on the other side of the river), birding at Beaver Lake, breweries just down Old Marshall Hwy/Riverside Dr, and the restaurants and shops of West Asheville. We'd definitely stay here again during...

Perfect campground for me and my pup! Dean, the owner saved me, by letting me book the night of after I was turned away from a very inhospitable nearby campground. I only intended to stay one night, but ended up staying 3, because I liked it so much! Yes, there's noise from the road above and an occasional train comes through on the other side of the river, but the river's running water sounds dominate and create really calming background noise that put me right at ease. Also, I enjoyed watching the train roll through. The vibe is very relaxed and comfortable, because they don't allow kids (for safety reasons between the river and road) and they try to avoid loud party groups. The grounds are well kept and each site has plenty of space. There are plenty of porter potties and they are the cleanest ones I have ever seen! There is a nice private washroom on site with a toilet, sink, and standing shower. (Pro tip: the hot water heater can be finicky. Run the sink hot water while you shower until they have a chance to fix it) There are tire swings and other swings overhanging the water, which was really cool! There's also a family of geese that come around with their new chicks. I felt very safe there. The owner comes around occasionally to keep an eye on things and he's very down to earth and accommodating. Open to all kinds of people including international, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC etc. It was the perfect balance of a relaxing nature getaway with just the right amount of freedom, privacy, and comfortable amenities. I'll...

I honestly cannot recommend anyone staying here. We booked three campsites at the end of March and when we got there, they were filled with trash and broken glass. Not only that, but when we called to discuss our concerns, we were told to stay off of the hay even though the hay was the only place to pitch our tents. We were also told it was technically out of season, as though that was some sort of excuse since they still allowed for us to book the spot for those dates. The campsite was so trashed and they were so unaccommodating that we had to leave and find a different campsite at the last minute. On top of it all, when we asked for a refund, we were ghosted and we had to take it up with Airbnb. Glad for everyone who had good experiences, but I really do not recommend staying here. There are thousands of places to camp in the area with hosts and management that are much more...

Incredible stay( Paddlers Paradise Glamping cottage). I’m an outdoorsy person and I love the whitewater scene, especially in NC. This place was absolutely incredible and I was so sad to leave. It was pretty, it was comfortable, it was a good price. The only things I could complain about are kind of expected from being out in the wilderness. The WiFi, is spotty, so sometimes cell service serves better. It’s hard to keep bugs out, especially moths at night, so watching tv sometimes small bugs like ants and moths would make their way in. Overall I could not recommend this place enough. It’s genuinely beautiful and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
