My stay at Sohum was an absolute pleasure. Upon arrival, I was greeted by beautiful smiling faces to help me get settled in. The room was beautifully decorated with a fireplace, a view of the mountains and fabulous shower and soaking tub! The bed was so comfy. My room was equipped with an electric kettle for the complimentary teas, robes and slippers. So many special touches. All of the treatments I had were so good. I had Abhayanga- a four handed massage, hot steam bath, Shirodhara- warm oil spilled onto the forehead continuously to promote mental wellbeing , Kati basti for the low back , shoulder basti and whole body serenity. All the treatments promote natural healing. I enjoyed three plant based meals per day that were outstanding and nurturing, also designed for healing. There were morning rituals to gently bring you into the day ahead and at night there were sacred practices to give you the opportunity to share with others as well as look inward. During the day I really loved walking around in nature. There is such a special feeling on this property, especially after hurricane Helene. Yes, there was quite a bit of damage to the surrounding forestlands, but the hope of renewal is all around and the restoration so far is tremendous. I felt so cared for, the guest services are top tier and I would recommend this amazing place to anyone seeking their own renewal. I will definitely go forward with a better perspective on healing and self care because of all that I experienced while visiting SoHum.

We stayed at the Sourwood Inn for a couple of nights after our wedding in Asheville, and it was the perfect spot for our mini-moon! We were looking for a quiet bed & breakfast in the mountains with great views and food, and Sourwood was exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed walking the trails, sitting out by the fireplace before dinner with our complimentary welcome bubbles, eating delicious food in the dining room, enjoying the view from the reading porch, and driving 5 minutes over to the Blue Ridge Parkway to enjoy the foliage and views. We stayed in Sassafras Cabin and particularly loved the giant two-story window overlooking the trees. Proal, Connie, and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and friendly during our stay. We hope to return someday in the future!

My husband and I stayed at Sourwood in August of last year for one night as a layover to where we going. We fell in love with it. The view from our bed was nothing short of spectacular. The picture attached isn't the best lighting but that is dawn from MY BED! I didn't get anything after that before I was just enjoying the moment. I was very disappointed to see that the inn has been taken over by what looks like a large company and they have doubled the prices. I thought we had more time to plan our return trip. I truly think this was the best place to stay in Ashville. Unfortunately with their prices we won't be visiting again. My stay then was a 5 star however I can't rate that with how disappointed I am in the Sourwood Inn has become.

This was my first panchakarma (PK) experience and I was very nervous about what was in store despite knowing that the PK journey had brought incredible levels of healing to many of my friends and family. I had a shoulder and nerve injury I was trying to work through and decided to come hoping it would hasten my healing.

The moment I got on my first pre-arrival call with one of the SoHum practitioners, I knew that I was not going to be alone but that I was going to be in capable and caring hands and my arrival to SoHum Mountain Healing Resort did not disappoint!

On arrival we were each individually greeted with a beautiful welcome honoring the light within us. I could feel in their hearts that they were so excited to guide, support and serve us through our healing week which lay ahead.

The Lodge itself had a beautiful rustic lobby with a large central fireplace to ground the cozy space. The charm of the lobby was not lost when I entered the room because it had a wood burning fireplace and a small balcony of its own. It can be a challenge to get a wood fire going unless you're a boy scout, but everyday as part of the daily room service, new wood and starters were stacked and waiting to simply light and instantly enjoy a roaring fire. I LOVED this!!! I even asked for more wood and starters later in the day and the staff were happy to come set up a new stack for me to simply light.

The daily Serenity treatments were extremely therapeutic and the therapists were all very good. It was nice to have one main therapist that was with you all week.

Chef Michael! He is so talented in preparing and presenting Ayurvedic friendly vegan food to support the PK process. I could have used more greens, but there was a purpose behind limiting those as to enhance the efforts of our PK treatment. You did not leave the table hungry! All the kitchen staff was very attentive to our needs. They would have all of our individual herbs out for us to take with our meals which was very helpful!!

The morning gentle yoga ritual is very nice. However, I only made it to a couple of them. The beds were very comfortable and the view of the mountains at sunrise from my room made it hard to leave that space! The afternoon "lessons" on Ayurveda were very informative and the evening gatherings with the other guests were a nice way to close out the day through discussions or chanting or both!

The daily check ins with the practitioners and the loving support from all the staff was amazing to have for my first PK treatment. Thank you to all of them for a successful PK week. I left with more movement in my shoulder and less nerve pain in my arm and hands!

I also, want to note that it doesn't end when you leave SoHum. I am still receiving virtual support from the practitioners as I move into my daily life when comes to my questions about my...

My experience at SoHum was everything I needed and everything I didn't know I needed. From the moment I walked through the door, I found myself in an atmosphere of kindness, nurturing, and support. The building itself is homey and comfortable, every single staff member was kind and helpful, and the surroundings were spectacular. I am fairly new to Ayurveda and have been having some health struggles for a few years. A friend suggested I try Panchakarma to help me reset my body and hopefully instill some better lifestyle practices. I can feel the difference in my body after the Panchakarma retreat. My body feels lighter, I do not feel the level of joint pains and inflammation I was dealing with, and I am inspired to eat better and have better morning and evening routines. I want this lightness to continue. The daily treatments were heavenly and I learned to allow myself to slow down and receive. I have always worked in high stress jobs where I am handling problems and taking care of others. It caused me to tear up when I realized that I could slow down and allow others to take care of me for a while. My whole nervous system had settled down by the end of the week. I could also write an entire review just on the incredible food that was served. Everything was done to support the cleansing and healing going on in our bodies, but the tastes of the food, the smells, the textures, the gorgeous presentation - I felt like I was in the fanciest Michelin star rated restaurant in the world. The trails take you through gorgeous scenery and I enjoyed the peacefulness that comes with being in nature. I also met lovely people who were also attending the retreat and I hope this is the start of a long friendship. There is no way I can fully describe everything, but I highly recommend SoHum and in particular the Panchakarma retreat for anyone who is looking to find peace in their hearts and healing in their bodies. I will...

We were told of this place by a friend who recently had dinner there and decided to go last night. 100 acres of wooded land, a true inn (not just a converted house B&B), a fantastic getaway, and one of the most enjoyable meals we've had in the Asheville area (and we have been to all of the local 'best' restaurants). The place was designed and built in the 1990s specifically to be a retreat, a break from life's hectic pace. In addition to 12 guest rooms and a cottage, there are quite a few common areas to relax in, both inside and out. Breakfast is included with your room rental, afternoon snacks are served, but neither is standard fare, chef-made on site. Dinner is served starting at 6pm and available to both guests and the public. $35 fixed price three-course meal with several options for appetizer, main course, and dessert, created by their in-house chef (menu changes frequently). Quiet dining room (can sit inside or out with views of nature's abundance, very calming) with subdued classical music in the background. All this leads up to a very satisfying meal, the equal of any restaurant in the area and better than most (BYOB, they do not have a liquor license). The best tomato salad I have had, excellent spareribs with pureed carrots and pickled vegetables, and a wonderful torte with cream and fruit. The atmosphere was very intimate and friendly, we sat by an open window during a rain storm. Even though we are local, we are going to take advantage of one of their getaway stay packages which includes hands-on falconry, and access to their many hiking paths (not to mention another dinner!!!). Absolutely marvelous experience in every way (not enough superlatives to do...
