Not kid-friendly. I really wanted to like this place. We had a nice site, but we simply could not tolerate the behavior here. New site at 526, I was outside reading in my own campsite minding my own business and I smelled POT very distinctly for about the third time since we got moved. I don't care if you do it, but I also have a right to not participate in your indulgence. All I can say is that it's prohibited by work, so I will have nothing to do with it. Keep it away. So I went to the office and addressed it. Especially since security seemed so stringent on everything else. I was told they probably have a green card and we can't tell them what to do. What?!? The next day I was driving and I saw it - the POT shed was wide open and it smelled. Literally a smoke shack. I told the office again. Then again. Took about 6 times and they finally decided to address the issue. Why is it that the management is unwilling to address real issues but we get scolded constantly? I just don't understand. My son has an intellectual disability and he loves camping. He is the happiest and kindest child you will ever meet. He is 16. My wife took him for a drive around the campground and within 5 minutes she was accosted by Mike with red and blue lights. He made it very clear that my son wasn't allowed to drive. (Even though his 15-year old cruises around on a cart all day long unattended). Hmph! My son was holding his head down like he did something wrong. My wife told me she was never leaving the site again. She said I was looking forward to taking rides with Aiden this summer at Hidden Valley, but now I don't even want to go there alone (throughout the week). She said, "That just ruined it for me. I don't feel welcome here. Why do they hate us?" A few weeks later, I decided to take Aiden for a ride again. Of course, I knew this was a misunderstanding and I'm a responsible parent. Boy was I wrong. It was July 6 at 8:00 at night, camp was almost completely abandoned. It was a quiet, serene night. That was until heard a 400-pound Mike rush up on us and bellow, "get off the cart, I told you kids can't be riding!!!". All the while he's trying to pull his pants up while a half spent cigarette was hanging out of his gums. I stood up straight and replied, "he's 16, I'm here with him, I'm responsible." He seemed a little taken aback, then he turned around and sped off. I look a loop around to the desert and was having a pleasant conversation with an old friend. 5 minutes later I see Mike again and he makes a beeline right for us. Where's his driver's license? I need to see it RIGHT NOW!!! He was very agitated and confrontational. I said, no one else is here, I'm right beside him supervising and he is driving safer than anybody else here does. I said why are you acting like this? I am my child's advocate, and this is JERK behavior. This is not acceptable. With that, he mumbled, let out a grunt, and sped off slinging gravel like a petulant teenager. And this person is in charge of security? If I was the owner, I would be embarrassed. The bottom line is this - my child has special needs and some of the people here have been hostile towards him. They literally were watching us with hawk-eyes so they could intimidate and berate my son while he's learning. He has an IEP and honestly this is discriminatory behavior. I have been camping for years and have never felt so unwelcome in a place. So we're done. We pulled out. We left. We will not stay in a place where we're not appreciated, let alone targeted. Lastly, why does a campground need 27 security guards? Yes, TWENTY-SEVEN. Is this a gulag or a campground?

We read a lot of reviews before coming here, some of which mentioned the golf carts and rude seasonal campers. I would like to go on record stating that was NOT our experience at all! Are there a lot of golf carts? Yes, it's a huge place! If you're full-time, you are going to need one or you best be up for walking... because if the golf carts annoy you, imagine them being automobiles! The golf cart folks were VERY friendly! Just about everyone who drove past us waved and said hello! They obeyed the speed limit. We felt VERY welcomed! So I am going to guess that those who had negative experiences either needed something to complain about or they just got back the same energy they put out. We were there for the fireworks, which were EXCEPTIONAL for a private display. They were beautiful! And they lasted pretty close to a half hour! Our site, 408, was nice and level and well covered in gravel, which was most welcome considering it rained a good bit during our stay. We had no mud on our site due to the gravel. We prefer the gravel sites. If you're one who likes a grassy site, they have those too. The pools were clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly. Check-in was very efficient as we used the online system. We had a great experience and have already re-booked for the fireworks weekend next year (2024).

I love the feel of this campground. I love the way everyone feels like family. The pools are kept immaculately clean by Dusty. The hilltop bathroom is very nice. The other bathrooms could use updating but they still function as they should. The laundry is quick and efficient. The staff is always super helpful and kind. We bought wood in our way out with the intention of picking it up on our way back in and we came back to find it was delivered and stacked next to our fire pit which was such a nice surprise. My daughter enjoyed fishing and the pool. The camp store is always a treat when it’s open too. We stayed in a deluxe cabin by the pool it and couldn’t have been a more perfect set up. Only blip was that our futon was broken in our cabin but we still made it work. I would suggest maybe putting mattress pads in the loft of the deluxe cabin to sleep up to 6. And maybe WiFi that reaches the sites for night time. Thanks for having us! We can’t wait to go back for longer next time and dream of someday being seasonal campers there.

My son and I had a great two-day weekend for Labor Day. He is autistic and it was his first time tent camping and he helped out the tent together with me and did a great job. We didn’t rent a room. The tent site prices were very reasonable. We live only 1.5 hr away in the Back Mountain of Luzerne County. We were located over at 742 near the baseball first base line in the field along the road. For being so close to two major roads in Forest Hills, it was relatively quiet, except for the occasional truck jake breaks and some motorcycles flying by, during the day. The cows across the road woke my son up in the morning as they were probably waiting to be fed after the first night. It was a strange sound for him to hear.

It would be nice to have a bathroom over in that area as opposed to having to walk all the way across the field in the middle of the night, with very little light to guide you. The restroom was relatively clean and every time I left it, I cleaned up where I could if I saw anything laying on the floor. I did the same as I walked across the baseball field after the fireworks when others may have inadvertently left some trash in the field and I picked several pieces of trash up and disposed of it properly.

The kids had fun swimming. The showers were clean. Reception for cell coverage could have been better. We seemed to be in a very limited cell coverage area for WiFi.

We were happy to visit the General Store several times to pick up ice and a few other items since it was only a few hundred yards away. It’s a great little store in Forest Hills. The owners were friendly and very accommodating.

We attended the Sunday service and it was gray to hear the music along with some gospel. My son was with his girlfriend, who also stayed for a few days and they are both teenagers and in to cosplay, so they had many outfits they changed into over the two days. As I walked with them, several times across the campground, they were given many looks and they told me they did feel a little like people were judging them for their outfits. They were just being themselves and we just wish more people were less judgmental. I told them to just be themselves. They weren’t there to be judged. They are very good kids, artistic, creative, and were having a great time. Maybe a cosplay weekend should become an event so more kids can enjoy just dressing up as their favorite characters and not be judged by others so they can be comfortable with...

I have nothing nice to say but must say something... They are a ripoff Camp Site which was 95% residency, we arrived for our reservation and went to check in. They took $45 cash for the second night as we reserved using a credit card for the first night. Then they gave us a map and walked away from the desk. No explanation of anything or direction of anything. As I was making my way to the truck, a snidely, bitchy woman on a golf cart was making comments such as ... " Ain't no campground sites here. F'n people showing up like this is a camp site (Hidden Valley Camping Resort). People just need to leave and find another place to act like they belong." We (my husband and myself) were heading to the tent site and what we found was an overgrown parking lot in which they called it a camping site. My husband is disabled and requested a site close to the rest room and they put us damned there on the sidewalk to the restrooms (which looked like an abandoned building). ||The electric sockets (only for an RV) were hanging off the dilapidated wood rails that were broken due to poor care and age. This electric socket was not compatible for a camp (Tent) site. The water was on a " MUST BOIL BEFORE USE" order which was not told to us over the phone or in person. My husband called the front office and a very old gentleman (that took about 20 minutes to get there from 1 minute away) came and brought a conversion kit for the electrical socket. Unfortunately, I had already decided we were not going to stay as it felt like you were put out on display for the trailer/rv park to see... Movie screen was a wood wall with a staple sheet barely holding on, the three lakes they say they have looked more like run off ponds. My husband went in to the office and said we were leaving that their website was very, very deceiving and would like his money back and the woman at the counter said " We cant give you your cash back because we already gave it to someone (because they didn't have to pay taxes on the $45 in cash and it can't be tracked- we are not stupid) so they only gave my husband back one of the two nights fees. I truly plead with you, If you want to enjoy your getaway,...
