I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone who wants to get a quaint, country atmosphere. The charming lady who owns and manages the place Anita, goes the extra mile to ensure your stay is not only satisfying but memorable to the experience of the country living. I must say I had, as I expected a very comfortable night sleep. Anita also made sure we had ALL the toiletries we could need/use, from a toothbrush, shaving cream, razor to the most common items as shampoo and conditioner. The decor of the house totally reflected the time period of when the house was constructed. The house was immaculate with a country flare. Anita made a scrumptious breakfast with fresh farm eggs, meats, jellies and Amish made pies. I look forward to returning and continuing our ongoing conversation of the locals and her life's adventures. You will not be...
Read moreWe had been wanting to experience Lancaster County for some time now, and decided to try one of the local B&Bs in the area. The Schoeneck Hotel popped up on our search engine more than once, it was within our budget, so we gave it a try, and were not disappointed. Old world charm, unique old stone building. Our room was very cozy, if a bit over-furnished. As it was close to mid-December, the room was a little cool, but a space heater and the homes forced-air system fixed that. Our host was informative, attentive and a wonderful cook as well. Plenty of food and choices at the breakfast table. There is limited parking, steep roads in the area, so watch travel in the winter. Indeed, we visited just before the Christmas Holidays, and we were the last guests of the season before the Hotel closed...
Read moreI enjoyed my overnight in a comfy room in this charming hotel, in the midst of Amish country. It has the homey, folksy décor one might expect, but with the modern amenities of free TV and Wifi. The room also has blackout curtains, an in-room fridge and AC. Snacks and water were provided in the room; wine by request. Innkeeper Anita has a wealth of knowledge about the area, and can recommend places to go and things to do. She also cooked a delicious and plentiful to-order breakfast, served at a time of my choosing! One thing to be aware of - I reserved directly through the B&B, which has no direct mechanism to accept credit cards. (I mailed a check in advance.) I was unable to locate the Schoeneck via any consolidator site, though Anita indicated they...
