Before I dig into details about Hertzog Homestead as a wedding/event venue, I did want to say we rented out the entire bed and breakfast. With guests in all suites, each guest gave me rave reviews about their individual rooms, stating it was a cozy touch and still private and intimate as this isn’t your communal bathroom/dining experience, rather everyone had delicious breakfast in their room and their own cozy at home like space away from all the noise and drama of everyday life.
Now that I’ve had time to soak it all in, I cannot say enough for the hospitality and customer service that we had at Hertzog for our wedding weekend. My fiancé and I got married October 17 and it went off like a dream. As a COVID bride, any event planning can be stressful but owner Kristen was easy to reach with questions and even reached out to me instead. We were months away from the event and I was so please that she cared.
Fast forward to our 30 day out meeting. We had decided to use Makayla as our day-of coordinator and THIS WAS HUGE. She truly is an asset to Hertzog and anyone planning a large-scale event. Kristen and Makayla ran through all the logistics with ease and professionalism (not to mention separate calls with Makayla to finalize specific details).
We held our rehearsal dinner in the barn and the newly added bar and catering space were perfect! It was a nice way to keep the ambiance of the event separate from the food. It was a new thing Hertzog hadn’t done, but they were up for the challenge. Owner Scott stood by and make sure things went okay with the heaters (as it was chilly).
The wedding was a dream. We chose a lawn ceremony and it was intimate and beautiful. Kristen was more than helpful and accommodating with getting some of our more immobile guests to the site and was ready on standby for any of our needs. Makayla worked with vendors, coordinated everything and set up all of the decorations. I didn’t lift a finger and as a bride it was wonderful to just trust and know it was being handled.
At the reception, we had a fire pit and Scott tended to the fire making sure everything was okay and it kept burning and my guests were warm. Many guests complimented the bathrooms and were pleased with their space and cleanliness. The reception was beautifully decorated and the ambiance was exactly what I had pictured.
To sum it all up, the Hertzog Homestead provided us the place, space, care and environment to have the wedding of our dreams! I am so thankful for Kristen and Scott (& Makayla!) The generosity and real ness of these business owners takes you away from a venue mindset and truly transforms your event into an experience. Forever living on the high. 💕🥂
I would absolutely 1000/10 recommend your venue to anyone and everyone and have the feeling it won’t be our last time hosting or attending an event there. (Not to mention we will likely be b&b frequent fliers)

Read moreMy husband & I stayed 2 nights at the Hertzog Homestead for our anniversary. The Metzger Suite was a delightful, cozy, private and comfortable suite . The homemade breakfasts were delicious and abundant! We were given a a personal tour of the hen house with the Innkeeper himself, who is very personable and provided a detailed history of the Homestead. However, our suite was not as private as it could have been, as the innkeepers shared the home with us, and the teenage son chose to sit on our private deck and wear headphones with music and create his own drum solo right outside our windows both nights. The Guest information sheet we received specifically told guests to text the innkeepers as Concierge, if we needed any reservations for dinner, that they would gladly make. As well as if we wanted to know where to go shopping. Unfortunately, Our anniversary was on a Monday. After making almost 20 calls to restaurants in the area and finding out they were all closed, I texted Kristen, the Owner, about this and asked her for some recommendations. she provided a few, saying "they are open" but they were not, as they had been some I had already called. We finally rode around to different towns after about 2 hours, we found an Olive Garden. The next morning , we saw Kristen and told her what happened. She said this had never happened before. I suggested she might want to advise her future guests and also find out which restaurants are open so they would not experience the same problem. Her answer was, "This must have been a freak thing. sorry for you problem." After discovering there was no hair dryer in our suite, I told Kristen. Her response was, "yes, there is . under the sink" I told her that i looked thoroughly but did not find it. She went inside, came out and said, " I guess I forgot" and walked off. We will not be going back !! Sorry Scott, but I would like to clarify, we never used the TV or called about it, and I did find a hair dryer in the suite when we got back that night. And Yes, while we were talking outside with Kristen about the hairdryer, I did ask her to make reservations at the Lincoln House, so she dialed them but she handed me the phone as soon as she connected and said, " Here, they will want your information," and handed me the phone while she went to do something and came back for her phone. I am sorry to hear that your son has...
Read moreI have just recently gotten married at Hertzog Homestead. It was nothing short of amazing. The beautiful barn held my ceremony, family and friends collected after the chairs were removed to take pictures because they loved it so much. We had a cigar bar at the fire pit which was such a unique addition to our wedding. We rented a tent to hold reception and it was perfect. The cornfields were beautiful, and our guests loved taking pictures in front of them. Kristen and Scott (the owners) involve themselves way more than I could have imagined. They helped make my day perfect. They took care of any one with mobility issues by driving them in the cute golf cart wherever they needed to go. They made sure my husband and I were on time for ceremony and reception introductions. Kristen and Scott went above and beyond the minute we got to the B&B the day before my wedding. Hertzog provides a delicious breakfast and baked goods, quiche, pies, cakes, yogurt with fresh granola. This is my second visit, and I am more impressed than the last visit which I thought was impossible because I loved this place from the moment, I stepped foot on the property. The cottages are pristine, adorable, and each having their own story. Scott and Kristen are some of the most genuine people I have ever met, and I plan to return yearly. I don't want to forget the sweet Makayla who is Hertzog's manager, and she is so helpful, answering all my bridezilla questions and making things work for me. She also provided me with a dog sitter and was just quick to give me solutions to any obstacles I ran into. I don't have any complaints, my day was exactly, if not better, than I imagined. I had great vendors which I chose from Hertzog's very convenient vendor list, and the Hertzog team was a huge bonus! Kristen and Scott have the cutest son Keifer who is so much fun and truly can brighten your spirits. Book with Hertzog for your next event or weekend away, even if you are local to the town, you are in your own world on their property and will enjoy yourself no matter what. Scott, Kristen, Makayla, & Keifer, thank you for making our wedding an event never to be forgotten! With Love, Meghan and...
