A park ranger recommended this destination to us. The view was gorgeous, but the drive there was long and rough on our SUV. You have to stay on very narrow dirt road for quite some time to reach it and the annoying thing is that it's just barely wide enough for one car, but it's used for traffic both ways. We had to pull off near the edge of small cliffs and into the woods to allow other vehicles to pass by us. This happened every 15 minutes or so both getting there and returning. Also, word to the wise - bring strong mosquito spray as there seemed to be more here than anywhere else at the park. Deet 40 seemed to do the trick and none of us were bitten. Also, be aware that some of the trails here lead to hot spots for grizzly bear activity. We brought grizzly repellent spray and I carried a hunting knife on me. In retrospect, as great as the view was, I think there are many other comparably beautiful locations at the park that are less of a pain to visit - especially if you have children with you. If I did it again it would be to...

I went up for the evening to check out the lake for sunset. As you can tell in the photos, the smoke from the fires was pretty intense but it was still absolutely gorgeous.
Parking was easy and plentiful. The lake was extremely peaceful. I wish I had a paddleboard to be able to go out onto the water to get the full experience.
Note that the single road up to the campsite is narrow, dirt, and windy as hell. If you're from south florida, be ready for a bit of a challenge if you're a nervous driver. If you're from mountainess areas, you'll be fine. Be sure to start your navigation PRIOR to losing service or download offline maps as the road from the park in is a little strange since it cuts through some private residential areas if you enter from the west gate of the park first.
14/10 recommend at least stopping by...
Read moreSuch a beautiful scenic campground. Wonderful trails nearby, crystal clear lake (awesome for kayaking), wildlife everywhere, good fishing, etc. It's one of the most remote campgrounds in Glacier that requires a 1hr drive on an unpaved bumpy dirt road. Mosquitoes/bugs are dense in the area, so insect repellent is a MUST. This place is spectacular if you can handle the remoteness, which isn't that bad especially considering that my girlfriend and I took our 10-month-old son with us and we did just fine. Definitely will be returning here in the future, we took a risk with this campground and it paid off. I recommend it to anyone contemplating which campground to go to. This...
