Glacier Park is a gem of a mountain range and the hike to Sperry Chalet and Sperry Glacier is filled with stunning beauty and magnificence. Our guide JD, from the Glacier Guides Company, had deep knowledge of the geology, plants, and animals in the park. He is a great teacher, both curious and giving and was a great companion to have along. The food at the chalet, excellent with fresh baked bread and pastries, had vegan options with perfectly cooked vegetables the vegan cook had brought up from her garden in the valley. You need a reservation to get a room and to bed fed, but you don't need a reservation to drop your pack (or some of its contents) in the dining hall while you hike to the glacier and back. We have never stayed, but we stop here whenever we are feeling like a good, stiff uphill hard and a toe crunching, quad burn hike down.
