We stayed 3 nights at this campground. Let me start out by saying, its not horrible like some reviews I read on Trip Advisor said. The RV park itself was fine. The spots are more like gravel than a concrete pad, but that was fine. The fire rings are small little tire rings (ours was very tiny but I saw a little bigger ones.) Biggest downside for us was no picnic tables at all. Clubhouse area and water fountain feature seem to be where all the money has been spent. I don't know what the clubhouse is used for normally as it looked like its only designed to be an event space. It was dark and locked. But it looked nice inside and out. 3 sides of the giant water feature seemed like they should have moving water of some sort but didn't. There were nice porch swings hanging near the clubhouse but we never used. Bathrooms were good and fairly clean. There are 2 individual rooms that have a toilet, sink, shower, bench and wall hooks. Large and completely handicap accessible. There was nowhere in the shower at all to set bottles so had to keep curtain open and set stuff on the bench outside shower. Was a little awkward but not end of world. Never saw owners as "office" opened after we left in mornings and closed before we got back in evenings. The road inside the RV park connects directly to the parking lot of a rehab facility which was a little odd. There is an area of the RV park that is a couple of rundown barns/sheds and all kinds of trash and junk. There are at least 3 old, not well kept trailers inside the park that apparently people live in full-time. One of the worst things, that I'm sure the campground probably has no control over is that it smells like dead fish. Every night it was horrible and even permeated the inside of the RV. I'm not sure what could be causing it and it was not noticeable in the mornings but gosh was it awful at night. The price here was very reasonable and it was centrally located for places we wanted to go. If you are just looking for a place to park then its fine. But in all honesty I would probably not stay here again and would not recommend if you have kids and want a picnic table to sit at or any other amenities.

Ben Franklin RV Park – One of Our Worst Stays Since Going Full-Time We’ve been full-time RVers since 2020, and sadly, this park ranks as the second worst we’ve ever stayed at. We booked last minute and regretted it almost immediately. 🚫 First Impressions: • Arrived to find the bathhouse bathroom clogged and the dump station broken. • Other campers said it had been that way for a while. • No staff on property—only a phone number to text. Hours later, we got a reply saying it was “being handled.” • Our campsite itself had several piles of uncleaned dog waste that we had to deal with. 💥 The Fireworks Fiasco: Late Friday, we received an email saying there would be fireworks for a private event on Saturday night. It claimed they’d last only 15 minutes at dusk. To protect our elderly dogs, we left camp during that time. Instead, the fireworks started at 8:30 and went on for 45 minutes. When we returned, fireworks were hitting our RV and truck—we’re still checking for paint or rig damage. Our dogs were so upset they paced and cried all night. To make matters worse, leaving the property during the event was a mess. A petting zoo truck completely blocked the exit, and RVers were directed the wrong way out just to get around it. The whole setup felt unsafe and disorganized. ⚠️ The Bottom Line: If you value safety, peace, and basic upkeep, this is not the park for you. Between poor maintenance, no on-site staff, unsanitary conditions, blocked exits, and a dangerous fireworks show, it completely missed the mark. We will not return, and I cannot recommend this park to anyone.

My goal in leaving reviews was to limit myself to positive reviews and just not post anything for negative ones. This said, I think a traveler should not be fooled by their attractive website photos of the Ben Franklin RV park. I speculated that maybe this park is a side hustle for an owner who doesn’t want to put too much effort into their facility (other than a banquet room). There is nobody on site to help with any issues that should arise. You can text a number, but that is it. Our site was okay but make sure you have extensions on your hoses because the water, dump or power can be far away. There were people who requested (and confirmed) full hook ups that didn’t get it. One poor fellow with a 5th wheel couldn’t fit in his site but luckily he swapped with someone else. Another site was double booked. Other sites had big dips and the park can be very tight to navigate. The lovely picture of their bathroom is in their banquet room - the reality of their showers and laundry room are quite different. For us, the location was good for moving to the York Fairgrounds the next day. But all this aside, I would not return here unless I absolutely had to. Hands down the worst park we have stayed at.

If you're looking for a high energy, attraction filled theme campground stocked with cartoon animals, swimming pools, mini-golf, shuffleboard and bounce pillows, keep driving. Ben Franklin may not be for you.

If, however, you want quiet neighbors, 50 amp electrical service. last minute (and by last minute, I called them the day before and requested two side by side sites which they accommodated), INEXPENSIVE camping whether on your way to somewhere else or stopping in the York, PA area for a few days, it's hard to beat this place!

The owners (Ben and his spouse) will work to meet your needs. The campground is in transition so you will find some older mobile homes mixed in among brand new TT's 5ers and 6 figure motor homes. You can tell that they are updating as fast as possible as there is work in progress in addition to what they have already done. There's only one bath house but it has two separate, self-contained restroom/shower units that rival almost anyplace you have been, previously along with a laundry room. We never had to wait to use any of them.

Easy access from US 30 (ignore your GPS and follow I 83 to US 30) and plenty of places to eat within 15 minutes if you choose not to cook.

Not every site had picnic tables but ours had one that we shared with our adult kids in the site next to us. Our sites were on the outermost loop which placed us next to the US 30 on/off ramps so the occasional Jake-braking truck and motorcycle racer boys would shatter the stillness but overall, the traffic noise was mostly not noticed by any of us.

Our stay was a 'shakedown cruise' for the kids' 32 ft. TT that they got back unexpectedly after long term warranty repairs at the dealership. We were glad to find Ben Franklin had available weekend space on a single day's notice!

The 5 stars are for great value, highly accommodating service and well...
