My tire blew out at exit 260 at 5pm on a Friday night, and not a tire store in sight (let alone open). While fumbling on the ground to figure out my tire number and details my wallet must have fallen out of my purse. Amazingly it was turned in to cashier at the gas station (cash gone, but who cares, SO glad to get the wallet back)! It is almost 100 degrees outside and I am 7 hours from home. At least there is a motel across the street, I thought. I'll get a room and figure out what to do. That is when my slightly crummy day took a turn for the worse! The young couple who checked me in were SO unhelpful and unfriendly ... it was almost surreal, as though there might have been a hidden camera conducting an experiment on how customers would react to crazy rude, severe treatment while trying to check into a motel. What is wrong with people??? A kind word or one smile would have gone a million miles! Instead, their last words to me were "Don't mess up the room". (Why would you say this to your hotel guest??)
As far as the room details: the pillows were similar to square boards and the air conditioner was not able to cool the room to a comfortable temperature - even by the next morning.
I did encounter 2 friendly room cleaners in the morning.
To the couple at check-in: I'm sure you'll remember me, I was just there Friday 7/10/20). I was the girl trying to overcome your hostility by being as nice as possible, though you surely noticed my eyes brimming with tears. I go into this detail hoping you might consider that the blob on the other side of the window is an actual human being. With the tiniest bit of effort, instead of sending this real live person off feeling sad and miserable because they encountered you, you could be a hero with a simple smile. Or if you really want to feel something great, try a compassionate word when someone is struggling! Even if you had no rooms or couldn't help in any way - compassion is a wonderful thing - and I bet it would even make YOU...
Read moreThis place is ridiculous. If you would like to be attacked by mosquitoes then stay here. We pulled in everything seemed ok until we received the key for the room. I drove the car around to the back of the motel looking for the room. I seen bugs flying around and because it was near the one light they had in the back i didn't think much of it until I opened the car door. I had mosquitos all over me. My elderly mother was with us and being bit as well. Since at this point they are invading my car I thought the safest place for my mom was inside the room. They "meaning the mosquitoes followed". I told my husband we cannot do this we are at risk and this certainly isn't relaxing. The gentleman at the front desk said it was mating season and there was nothing he could do, except change us to a room in the front and give us bug spray. Left my mom and went and looked at the room and the bug spray was for ants. "really" at This point we are being eat up by the mosquitos. We went to the front office and requested a refund that is is totally unacceptable. He agreed but the owner whom lives across the parking, disagreed and said they do not do refunds. Luckily for us we had USAA Bank. we called and they handled are horrible situation. Since that time I knew there had to be more of a reason to have a mass swarm of biting mosquitos! There is a non functional swimming pool. How do I know you ask... I took my mother back to Kentucky two weeks later and had to drive by and look.. I had to have an explanation for this. Please do not waste your money over 80.00 they tried to charge is for and we didn't even stay there... This is a BIG HEALTH HAZARD... We also need to let you know we killed mosquitoes for days after that from my car. Long drive back to Texas and even after we made it home to Killeen Texas for days I killed mosquitos. Please...
Read moreThis motel is conveniently located across from TA truck stop. Everything seems brand new. The fridge, microwave, flatscreen TV, phone, air conditioner/heater. Plus the broom had a comfortable bed, and free WiFi. The only issue I had was unidentified spots on the bedspread. It might have been a bleach spot but I’m not certain. Fortunately, I had sheets and a blanket with me so I took the bedspread off and laid my flat sheet on top of the bed. I laid down in top of that with my blanket and got a good nights sleep. Staff was friendly, the area was quiet and the price was right. I would stay here again and recommend to others.
UPDATE: I wrote this review before I checked out. I stayed here two nights and the issue happened the second night/morning. Around 5 AM, I was woken up by the sound of the door hitting against the metal lock plate inside the room. Then, a woman called out, “Room service!” I hadn’t seen a female employee yet, let alone the offer of room service. No offense, but this motel isn’t the type that would be equipped for room service and it was WAY too early for house keeping. As a woman traveling alone, I was frightened by the fact that someone tried to enter my room while I was asleep and how this person(s) got their hands on my room key. Thank God I had the sense to lock my door from the inside and I recommend that everyone do the same. I asked the front desk about this during check out, but as expected, he didn’t know anything about it. Please just be aware of this if you choose/have to stay here. I’m now changing my previous star rating from ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️...
