We went to the River of Life Farm for a weekend get away. We had no idea what we were in for. The River of Life by far exceeded any expectations we had!
They have a little piece of heaven here on Earth, and we were so blessed to be able to share in all of the beauty this location has to offer!
We stayed in the King Fisher cabin, which was a tree house cabin. This cabin was an open floor plan room. It was absolutely beautiful. It was equipped with a king size bed (which was very comfortable, a kitchen with all the essentials, a table for two, a romantic fireplace, a bathroom with a stand up shower, an extra large jetted bath tube with an amazing view of the mountains, river, and trees, a large back deck with the majestic view with a table and chairs, and a swing, a fire pit, and grill.
One morning while I was sitting on the porch watching the water crash on the falls, I was blessed by seeing two Bald Eagles flying down the river together. This place is surrounded by so much wildlife.
I had the opportunity to view other cabins as well and was highly impressed with them all. The view from all of the cabins were breath taking (I have attached photos). From the balconies you are soothed by the sound of the river flowing and the falls. This place has such a tranquility about it, as it has been blessed by God and his glory.
We had a guided fly fishing trip, as it was my first time I have ever fly fished. We took a boat down the river and stopped at many locations. We were able to fish from the boat, on land, and while wading in the waters. The patience the guide had was amazing. He stayed with me and taught this newbie how to fly fish; from casting, tying on flies, wading safely, and how to control my fly in the water. I will forever remember this first fly fishing trip and this kind mans words of encouragement and knowledge that he so freely shared.
While we were floating down stream, our guide shared stories of the history of the area. He pointed out landmarks to make sure we didn't miss it. We were able to fish, while obsorbing the glorious surroundings. It was breath taking to say the least.
There are trails for hiking, fly fishing ksolo or with a guide), canoeing, kayaking, and float trips available on site.
They have dining services available at the lodge. The food was priced fairly. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can have it to go in your cabin or you may dine in. This lodge was beautiful inside and was also equipped with a view and picnic tables. The tables inside had fresh cut roses and a fireplace (attached photo) and it was so ecstatically pleasing and romantic. The food was good and the young man cooking was so very sweet. I am not a breakfast eater, but he made the wonderful biscuits and gravy and I would highly recommend it! Other items; the steak was very tender, the grilled chicken was delightfully juicy, vegetables were fresh, and thus mans baked beans were literally the best we have ever had!
The staff on are all super friendly, genuinely happy to help with whatever you need, and the owner is a very kind man named Myron. I was blessed with getting to know Myron while I was there and he is one of the kindest and most humbled men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Whether you are a couple, single, or having a family reunion River of Life has the cabins for you. Whether you are a thrill seeker, naturalist, bird watcher, fly fisher, or just need a relaxing trip to clear your mind; the River of Life will exceed your expectations. We just left and have already started planning our next trip there and can't wait!

Read moreWhat a memorable adventure!! Our children gave us this weekend at River of Life Farm as a Christmas present and we couldn't wait to go! When we checked in Friday afternoon it had been raining all day and there was flash flood warning & watch in the area. We asked Myron and he assured us we would be fine(we should have listened to him)....we were in the White Oak cabin and fixed supper and relaxed with the rain still falling....at midnight, my husband woke me up and said we needed to move to higher ground. He thought we wouldn't be able to get out. I'm thinking we're way up in the treehouse, it would take a LOT of water to get to us....not thinking about the road getting us out, so, with pillow in hand we drive in the rain to the top of the hill (hillbilly phone booth) and of course the rain stops...but when we got cell service it confirmed our (husband's) concern about flash flood warning and flood warning till 6:15AM. Oh my, what fond memories of tossing & turning trying to get comfortable....then at 3AM we saw 3 cars head up the hill....was there a flood coming??! We didn't know what was happening down the hill. Did the River of Life turn into the River of Death? Were we the only survivors? Was my husband smarter than all those other poor souls? After volunteering with the Red Cross during Katrina and other floods, he saw the devastation that floods can do. At 5:40 I pleaded, can we please just go back to our cabin- there's only 30 minutes left of the flood warning....no, we must wait till daylight ....(after 31-derful years of marriage I should have known)....anyway, at 6:13 we head down the hill. Yeah! Our cabin is there....no major flooding, White River was up but not out of its banks. All I could think of was sitting on our deck with a cup of hot coffee! Oh no....my husband, God bless him, said we needed to leave because we were still under a flood watch....are you Kidding me?? So, we pack up and we depart our cabin....boo hoo hoo. Our weekend getaway was just ruined. We asked if we could switch to a "safer" cabin and Ann let us stay in the Lodge suite. It was nice, but my heart was set on staying in our cabin....she offered to let us return to the cabin and my husband said, no, that's ok......with little sleep and ever falling rain, we headed to West Plains to do some sightseeing. We returned around 3PM and talked to Bob. He said the River was fine, no need to worry. Ok, now we had to swallow our pride and asked to get our cabin back (they were booked solid). Bob said he'd check with Myron. An hour later (and many prayers said by me), here comes Myron with a key to our White Oak Cabin and he simply said "Merry Christmas"! Yes, it was very merry!! So, we excitedly moved again and spent a lovely evening, appreciating the many blessings we have. Of course, Sunday morning the sun comes out and it really showed us what a beautiful and peaceful place the River of Life Farm is. Myron & Ann are great hosts and it's a great place to stay. P.S. I did enjoy my cup of coffee on the deck...
Read moreThe Website is definitely missing some Key information, so where to start? First off Be Aware!! NO PHONE!! NO CELL SERVICE!! NO SECURITY! ! NO TV SERVICE!! I read in some of the Reviews that the cell Phone reception was spotty to Non- Existent but had no idea there was No Land lines in the cabins. This in combination with No Internet is pretty bad. What if an emergency came up? Cabin caught fire? Someone has a heart attack? Someone breaks in? Oh...and by the way the nearest hospital is around an hour away.So how about Security? Our cabin had a glass front door, no curtain and one single door lock, No dead bolt, No chain lock, this in combination with short curtains thru the cabin and bathroom made my wife feel uneasy the whole stay..You could try to sell this as "Unplugged" but I got the impression they were too cheap to invest a few dollars to add to their guest Security. The cabin was Nice, the view was Nice but something was lacking. Guest amenities? Customer Service?...I felt like I was there simply to be profited off of. If a dollar couldn't be made off of it, it wasn't there. I say this because for $289 a Night I would expect to come in to a spotless cabin, smell of cleaners and air freshners, fresh linens and so on. I don't know if it was because they are on well water and a septic system(chemicals) but the floor was sticky ( I don't think it had been mopped) Linens smelled stale and couldn't tell for sure if they had been changed out. Nothing Extra. We left a day early because my wife was unable to sleep for 2 nights due to an overbearing feeling of being watched. (Find and read review about the drone)When I expressed my concerns about everything previously mentioned I would have thought ROLF to have offered some of our money back. Did they? Nope, this only confirmed that it is Profit over Customer Service. How about that Miracle Mile? I'm sure it's not the same Miracle Mile they are referring to but the one I'm referring to is the Mile of washed out gravel and ruts leading to the cabins, the Miracle was not ripping out my exhaust system of the car, once again Why not pave it? I'm guessing Profit over Customer Service again. With a few additions along the Customer Service side this could be an Awesome Vacation Spot, as it stands now it is just some over priced cabins with Severely limited amenities and options for a...
