The staff was friendly and apologetic, maybe because there was so much to apologize for. When I stayed there were a myriad of problems. 1st was (Not due to anything that they could control) There was some inclement weather that blew through and knocked out the power when the power came back on there was no cable or Internet for hours so the Inns secluded location was a problem because there was no cellphone service. So there was no television, Internet, or cell service. So fine maybe I could take advantage of some of the other amenities like the hot tub or pool NOPE! Both the hot tub and the pool were out of order and not usable. Even spending time in the back pool area was uncomfortable because of the overwhelming smell of animal feces, presumably from their alpaca farm or flock of chickens When I mentioned this to the front desk they informed me that wet weather sometimes exacerbates the manure smell. So this is a cloudy rainy cool afternoon with nothing to occupy myself with at the hotel I decided that I would like to make a phone call so I asked the person at the front desk what their policy was concerning outgoing telephone calls ( Because I haven't had to use a hotel phone in the last 20 years because I have a cellular phone) but again no service in the woods. The person at the front desk assured me there would be no charge to contact the mainland so I went back to my room thinking I would call someone an occupy myself with conversation unfortunately there was no phone in the room. Their rooms do not come equipped with telephones, if you need to speak to someone I guess you just walk to the front desk.

So I left the establishment seeking entertainment elsewhere at the conclusion of my evening entertainment I returned to the facility to find the cable and Internet we're backup. Upon entering my room I noticed that there were no blinds or curtains only shades in the windows and they were half raised, so I attempted to close the shades for privacy and to keep out the Sun in the morning unfortunately 3 out of the 5 or 6 shades were broken and malfunctioning so if you try to lower them they would completely unfurl. I found myself spending almost 40 minutes attempting to get the shades situated properly so that they would block out the Sun in the morning. I found it disappointing that they would skimp so egregiously on appointing the room with proper draperies.

If you check the prices on their website they're listed between $500 to $600 per night per Room. With such high prices I would expect a much higher level of sophistication and/or higher quality of appointments in the room. The bathroom was quite dated, they had painted over the ceramic tiles in the shower it looked like a very cheap place. The television was hung in a very unusual way which was not comfortable to view from the bed nor the couch. The coach was completely unsitable and not at all comfortable and quite unatractive. The tiny, smaller than college size refrigerator seemed out of place haphazardly tossed on the floor in the corner.

It gets worse in this small angled ceiling Room they have window air conditioners when I entered the Room it was quite comfortable a little on the chilly side the way I like it to go to sleep. Unfortunately the temperature dropped outside slightly but it was raining so I didn't think to open the window So at around 3 o'clock in the morning I awoke to find myself covered in sweat because I was under some blankets and the airconditioner had frozen up or stopped working when I told the front desk about my problem in the morning they said I must have done something to it. I never touched the airconditioner until after 3:00 a.m. when the problem started. I was never able to get the Room cool again before I left.

Over all it is a pretty looking building quite quaint and unique in a nice country location surrounded by beautiful gardens and close to a pond they offer shuttle service to the beach so many people may have wonderful time at this establishment...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a full week in late July. It was our first time on the Vineyard and we LOVED the experience. The beach was beautiful and worth seeing. The grounds are gorgeous. The food was great and we found the staff to be friendly. There is also a public pond walking distance from the inn that is open to guests. In the woods where the pond is, there are small walking paths (great for cardio, if you’re runners like us). There are things that could be improved-like getting basic info from staff. Here are some helpful tips, if you decide to stay at the Inn:

BEACH (10/10): The beaches all throughout the island are beautiful. We also loved the Lambert’s Cove Beach. There is a free beach shuttle that leaves from the lobby every hour from 9am to 6pm. The last shuttle leaves the beach to return to the inn at 6pm. You can also drive, bike or walk to the beach from the inn-but make sure to get a beach pass from the front desk. The inn also provides beach umbrellas, chairs, beach towels and bottled water - just ask the front desk. Also, every town has a beach so even if you leave the area for the day pack a bathing suit!

TRANSPORTATION (9/10): We are from NYC, so we do not have a car. The island is very bike & pedestrian friendly (even on the main roads). Many ppl walk & bike around and the drivers are super careful. There is a MV BUS system that runs through the whole island. The bus stop is right by the lambert’s cove beach entrance. Make sure to get a bus map & schedule from the inn. The buses were a great way to get around the island and very reliable. The last bus back to the inn leaves around 6pm-so we ended up taking a lot of Ubers & Taxis to get back.

LOCATION (7/10): The inn is fairly remote. West Tisbury is a very residential area with almost no commercial businesses. (It’s the country!) We took Ubers to get back to the inn-because the buses don’t run past 6pm in this part of the island. If you have a car, then there is more flexibility. We appreciated staying a comfortable distance from the main towns-it really felt like a country getaway and forced us to explore the entire island. It was also easy to get to places like Aquinnah (totally worth seeing). Sometimes, it was a little frustrating to make the trek back-but it was worth it because we really felt like we got the island experience and explore other areas that most tourists don’t get to see! It’s a small island and relatively easy to get from one point to another-just make sure to plan!

ROOMS (8/10): The room met our basic needs and was very comfortable. It was cute and clean. The rooms are not cleaned on a daily basis-but we were ok with that because we were out exploring most of the time. There was a small issue with the toilet-but again, we’re city ppl and are used to plumbing issues. Our room had an AC which was very comfortable for us, since we like it cold. We also regularly asked the front desk for bottled water for the mini fridge.

FOOD (8/10): The inn serves breakfast from 8am to 10am. It was limited but good! There is also a pricey but delicious dinner option ($95 per person). Guests should make sure to have a plan for most meals other than breakfast.. Most restaurants on the island require a reservation in advance during summer b/c there are so many visitors. Plan accordingly. The food on the vineyard is amazing. We didn’t have a bad meal.

We had a great time! Part of the adventure on the island is discovering secret nooks & crannies. Visitors are expected to explore and talk with others to get insider tips! Guests should also do research beforehand. We created a 1 page itinerary and used it to structure our trip. It would be helpful if the Inn provided a 1-pager with some basic info upon arrival. We understand staff are spread thin this summer due to COVID.

Overall, we recommend the inn. It did take some extra leg work (literally) to make the most of our stay, but we fell in love with the charm of the island and this was a fun way to experience it as first...

Like others who have recently stayed at Lambert's Cove Inn, I feel duped by the portrayal of the inn as inviting & upscale. The pictures of the room I booked on their website were not even of the room we were provided. I voiced all of my concerns noted here to management and they offered us 20% off the first night of our 3 night stay for "inconveniences", for a room that felt like a motel more than a 4 star hotel for $700/night.

Amenities: Not a welcoming place to leisurely hang out for a day while on vacation. No tour of the property on arrival, because there aren’t many amenities to be aware of. The hot tub hasn’t worked for a year, we were told on arrival. The pool is only open 9-5pm. I didn’t know people on vacation operated on business hours? The lobby/main building is closed at 7pm. The grounds had trash around common spaces - pool area, outdoor seating and in parking lot for the first couple of days - until we brought it to their attention. The landscaping looks neglected and sparse. I was inclined to stay there for beach passes to Lambert’s Cove beach but you do not need passes in September - open to the public. There was no easily accessible place to help yourself to towels, chairs etc, or to rinse off outside after the beach. The restaurant is not open during the day, in the event you’d like to hang by the pool and need lunch or a drink. There’s no spa on site / no info or recommendations about where you might access a massage or spa elsewhere on island. There are little to no activities on the property to entertain yourself, while staying on a pretty remote part of the island. Having nothing to do can be part of the point of being on vacation and on MV but not for $700 a night.

Rooms: The first room we had booked was ADA compliant. I double checked my reservation and confirmed that the pictures of the room I had booked on their website, did not look like the the room we were given. It was dark and sparse. It was supposed to be ADA but had an exposed closet area which looked oddly unfinished and had the safe on the floor was blocked entirely by the couch - definitely not accessible for anyone. The bathroom did not feel clean or well maintained, there were holes and marks on the wall. It did not have a place to hang a robe or towel or a counter to put toiletries. There was a cheap, poorly installed pedestal sink. The hair dryer was similar to one you'd find in a holiday inn, affixed to the wall. There was a deck outside the entry to the room with two chairs but it was shared with the next door neighbors, although Lambert's website describes it as "our most private deck."

We moved to another room for our second & third nights. It was much brighter and more spacious with a slightly prettier bathroom. Again, the pictures of the room did not really match the actual room. It had stains on the comforter & carpet. Overall both rooms looked like they could benefit from a deep clean. Neither room had things like speakers, cups for water, mini bar or anything to make the room as hospitable as any other 4 star hotel room I’ve stayed in - before covid OR since.

Service: The manager was polite and welcoming on arrival. Other folks at the front desk were also polite. I think staff are stretched thinly overall, everywhere - but things that were an issue that we raised were surely not all covid related. I attribute the majority of the issues to poor newer ownership. I used to live on the island and Lambert's was a revered destination.

Restaurant: They cancelled our dinner reservation shortly before our stay.

Do not expect a stay at Lambert’s to make your trip - they’re clearly no longer keeping up with their past reputation and very out of touch with what should be provided for the caliber of a 4 star hotel and for an exorbitant price. I was so looking forward to our stay here and was extremely...
