Secluded in the tranquil heart of Ohio's Amish country, Murphin Ridge Inn stands not just as a tranquil refuge, but as a welcoming home away from home. From our very first step into the Inn, we were met with genuine warmth and an inviting atmosphere that signaled the beginning of a memorable stay.
To label Murphin Ridge Inn as merely an 'Inn' is an understatement. In my perspective, it effortlessly elevates itself to the standards of a five-star resort, harmonizing rural charm with superior hospitality.
Our memorable one-night getaway unfolded within the cozy confines of Cabin #2, an idyllic fusion of rustic charm and modern comfort. Every detail, down to the high-quality toilet paper, handy lint rollers, and shoe rags, underscored the Inn's commitment to ensuring guest satisfaction and comfort.
The culinary journey at the Inn was remarkable. We savored a flavorful chicken dinner at an additional cost, every bite proving to be a worthwhile indulgence. The Inn's margaritas, an exquisite blend of tart lime and robust tequila, were among the best we've ever had. The following morning, we were treated to an included breakfast of scrumptious pancakes and perfectly crisped bacon, setting a delightful tone for our day.
The Inn's pristine pool provided a refreshing oasis from the summer heat, offering breathtaking views and a congenial setting for socializing. It was here that we quickly formed friendships with fellow guests, adding a rich tapestry of shared experiences to our brief stay.
The evening was marked by a gathering around the Inn's impressive in-ground fire pit, encircled by comfortable chairs. This bonfire, shared in the company of our newfound friends, added an element of warmth and camaraderie that resonated well into the cool night.
Our journey to this rural haven was guided by a simple query to ChatGPT - seeking the best place to stay near the historical Serpent Mound. The AI model's recommendation was spot-on, leading us to the doorstep of Murphin Ridge Inn and positioning us conveniently close to the ancient cultural site.
Nestled in the heart of Amish country, our stay also opened up opportunities to explore nearby Amish stores. These provided an intriguing glimpse into a different, simpler way of life, adding depth to our cultural experiences.
Additional amenities, such as the tennis court and serene hiking trails, added layers of activity and tranquility to our brief stay, catering to a variety of interests.
In summary, Murphin Ridge Inn is far more than a traditional Inn; it's a hidden gem that elevates a countryside retreat to a five-star resort experience. Here, delectable cuisine, top-tier amenities, and the joy of newfound friendships converge to craft an unforgettable stay, even if it was just for one night. It left such an indelible impression on us that we eagerly anticipate our return, this time for a much...
Read moreOur two day stay at Murphin Ridge Inn was wonderful! We stayed in the Amish House for our anniversary in Room 22. When we checked in we found out we were the only ones staying in the house! What an amazing surprise! We actually had access to the entire house if we wanted, but we still stuck with our original room. Room 22 has a huge jacuzzi tub and huge 2 person shower!
I was surprised at how cold the air was when we arrived (just how we like it!) Usually I sleep with a fan at night at home and was worried, but it was so cool and the room was so comfortable (and clean!) that husband and I slept like a baby.
We ate two dinners and two breakfast at the Murphin Ridge Restaurant. The food was always amazing and so fresh!
The weather ended up being gorgeous and we were able to eat all meals outside in their beautiful patio area. The first night we had the sirloin stake that was AMAZING! It was cool watching the chef grill out right on the patio! I didn’t even need steak sauce (which says a lot coming from me, because I typically put condiments on everything!) The second night it was pizza night and they made us a pizza in their brick oven that was also on the patio! It was neat seeing our food being made both nights.
Staff was absolutely wonderful, polite, and very knowledgeable. The staff did little things that made our stay special. For example, Majorie knew it was our anniversary and she reserved our table we fell in love with for our second dinner. And she remembered how I liked to make my ice tea and make sure I had extra Splenda without asking. It’s truly the little things that make all the difference!
We hope to come back every year!
Some tips for first time people (staying in the Amish House):
There is WiFi! We are big tv watchers. There is actually a tv that has USB ports in the common area. I would suggest bringing your google chrome/Apple TV or whatever you use so you can stream from your tv to phone if you prefer!
There is a fridge that can be shared. We did not know this and brought a cooler with ice. Not needed. There is actually a full kitchen if you want to make a meal. There is also a coffee pot!
There is a golf cart that you can borrow (maybe rent? May be free?) But you can use that to get to and from the main area which is a little over a mile away.
The pool is open 24 hours! Great for a night time swim (which is a mile away and is 4 ft deep).
There are a handful of board games at the Amish house, but I suggest to bring your own. So many great spaces to play them (inside or outside!)
Finally, bring s’mores! There is a great fire pit right out back of the...
Read moreWow! What a great place! Accommodations, good, and service were all top notch. My wife and I came down from the Cleveland area for our anniversary and first vacation since the pandemic began. We were looking for a place with natural surroundings in Southern Ohio and we prefer inns and B&Bs to chain hotels. Morphine Ridge appeared to check all the boxes. ||||Adams County is definitely rural and it did not appear that there were many places to dine in the area, so we made dinner reservations for two of our three nights. Our first night, we drove the 80 minutes into Cincinnati for our anniversary dinner which was wonderful.||||We stayed in Cabin #8, which was awesome. The cabins don’t look like much from the outside, but they have superb beds (ours was a king), wonderful showers, small refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, coffee mugs, wine glasses, wine bottle opener, and we had a two-sided fireplace and a jacuzzi tub. There was seating on the front porch on rocking chairs and on the back patio as well. Very peaceful, bucolic and relaxing. There is hiking on the grounds (easy) and within easy driving distance (less than 20-30 minutes). Lots of nature preserves in the area as well as the Serpent Mounds, which are ancient Native American burial grounds. ||||The food at the restaurant is wonderful. Breakfast is a multi-course meal that should satisfy anyone. We did not need or have lunch any day. Dinner was very good and ridiculously filling. The first night we had the 16 oz. ribeye steaks served with asparagus and carrots. But the meal began with tomato bisque soup and a lovely salad of fresh greens and tomatoes. Just wonderful. We finished dinner by sharing a piece of peanut butter “pie”. Extremely decadent, but not cloyingly sweet. The desserts are easily big enough to share. My wife had a Glass of Kahlúa and I had a 12year old Macallan Scotch. Just a wonderful meal. The wine list is small, but quite excellent.||||I cannot recommend Murphin Ridge Inn enough. Outstanding in every aspect if you are looking for a relaxing getaway in...
