We just spent a couple weeks touring the National Parks of the Mountain West and this was our favorite accommodation. The views are spectacular, all-be-it there is a road in between the property and the lake ... but it's really not all that busy, and the lake/mountain setting is a great way to begin and end each day.
Yes, it's a bit further from Yellowstone than accommodations in West Yellowstone, but in our opinion, it's worth the extra 10-15 minutes to get out of the tourist trap and enjoy the scenery and solitude of Montana. Also, if you have a spare hour or two, it's worth driving a bit further down the road to Avalanche Lake and the visitor center there ... very interesting.
The room was incredibly comfortable and spacious for four guests. It had everything we needed and it was also very clean. We also enjoyed the quirkiness of the decor, a bit of a western/asian fusion. Our kids loved the lighting in the bedroom.
Lastly, the staff. They were so friendly and accommodating. Waving hello and asking us how everything was going whenever they saw us; thanking us for staying with them; wishing us a nice day, and so on ... all very sincere and genuine.
If you're looking at hotel accommodations in this corner of Montana, this is the...
Read moreI strongly advise against booking with this hotel. Despite my card being used without authorization, they refused to refund nearly $340. I made every effort to cooperate with them, informing them promptly of the canceled reservation through the booking company, giving them ample time to rebook during the busy Memorial Day weekend. It's deeply disappointing that a company would withhold money they didn't rightfully earn or provide a service for. Their refusal to rectify the situation speaks volumes about their integrity and the quality of service one can expect from them. The booking company also tried contacting the owner AJ but he kept refusing to refund the money even after having already rebooked the room. He basically kept money that they hadn't earned. I have attached screenshots below as proof that the hotel has booked the room. He used the excuse that his policy states they can only refund the money if they are notified 5 days in advance. The room had been booked the night before and it hadn't even been 24 hours. As soon as I saw the unauthorized charge I tried contacting AJ and the...
Read moreThe room worked well for our stay - it is a one bedroom apartment with two queen beds in the bedroom and a futon in the living area. The kitchen has a full size stove refrigerator and is stocked with pots, pans, silverware, plates, etc. - all that we needed to prepare meals. Table for 4 for meals. They also provide breakfast that works, but is less than many other hotel breakfasts: hard boiled eggs, sausage patties (bacon one day), croissants, bread, packaged rolls, often pancakes, milk, tea, coffee, and instant noodles. Sometimes pancakes and other things would run out, especially close to the 9 am cutoff. The guy running it would bring more if asked.||There was a general lack of details and maintenance: juice machine was broken (all 6 days), toilet seat was loose (this got fixed), toilet paper holder was not functional, another room had some outlets not working. ||Overall we had a good stay, but they could do better. The view of Lake Hebgen from the front porch of all the rooms...
