We were in Loop C. We found the campsite clean and easy to back our 27’ bumper pull into it. The lake does have a few access points. However, while we were there, there were signs warning of ‘blue algae’ blooms. So, we were forced to keep the pups out of the pond. There is water available, but do not expect to fill your tanks easily because they to have the traditional non-threaded spigot. There are fire rings, tables, and bear boxes. In loops A < C there are electric posts from 20amp to 50amp. There are one or two TV stations available I found. Fairly convenient to Yellowstone NP, just be prepared in the AM for a back up. Noon or later is a better time to head that way. For the most part, a quiet campground. Apparently fire restrictions allowed for a campfire as there were a few of those. There are several spigots, 1 dumpster, and 2 pit toilets one at each end of the loop. Finally, the last mile or so is gravel. It has some fine ribbing and can easily vibrate a cup off coffee off the dash. We found that if you can run faster than 30mph, you will bounce over the ribbing. Just be careful at turns as you are only touching the top of the ‘rib’, if you do any fast turns, it could cost you a rig. The signs on 191 are sufficient to warn you the turn is coming. Oh yes, if you want straight dry camping, Loop D was almost vacant while we were there. Enjoy, I won’t say they aren’t there but NO mosquitos at this time of year, nice cool (35º) nights.

We stayed at Loop C, Site #9 which was great. There was a potable water spigot right across the road with steady 50 amp service in the camp (no sewer) and a bit further down the road were trash dumpsters. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit and there are vault toilets scattered through the campsite. The road within the camp is “okay” with a few bumps but wide enough to not worry about limb gouging your rig. The various campsites are spaced to where you can hear your quiet neighbor but not enough to their conversation unless they’re noisy folk. The site was clean, level and quite cozy. I’d give it a solid 5 stars but as others have stated, the road going in to the location needs help. The paved road off the highway is rough and uneven but if you drive slow, no harm, no foul and you might even get to see some grazing bison like we did. After about 6 miles on the pavement, you hang a right onto a nice wide gravel road that is marked with a damaged sign. The road is pretty good for the first 200 yards and then it becomes a washboard. It doesn’t matter what speed you drive or where you try to drive, it will rattle you and everything in your cupboards unmercifully. You have about a mile and a half of this dusty washboard to endure before you reach the campsite. For the price, the unlimited firewood, locale to the lake and the cozy “in the pines” feeling, this is a great place. Just be mindful of the washboard road, you will rattle things loose.

First of all, the campsite was BEAUTIFUL!!! BUT, I didn't give this a 5 STAR review because of the road into the campground and the roads thru the campground...they are TERRIBLE! Full of pot holes and you can't avoid them. We were there at the end of May so it was a little rainy and cold. Thank goodness the campsite is covered in pine needles (from the towering pines that fill the campsite) so it wasn't muddy. The roads were full of muddy potholes. The site was LARGE and very quite. Electric only and we set up our cell phone buster so we could stream Netflix (no TV coverage). it is located close to the West entrance of Yellowstone and the town of West Yellowstone (very convenient). From what we found out, this is Federal land and they are responsible for the roads...if that was fixed we'd be back for sure!

We just returned from a family reunion at Rainbow Point Campground. The setting and location are great! The mosquitoes were TERRIBLE! May have just been the time of year, but it put a damper on the festivities. They were so thick you could almost breath them. We couldn't do anything at the lake because they were so bad, but had a great time in Yellowstone. We booked five campsites and were close to restrooms and water spigots. No water hookups at our campsites for our RV's. I rarely leave a bad review, but please consider the mosquito situation. I can't believe they don't do some kind of mosquito abatement. As I write this I have counted over 40 bites on myself, my 7 year old granddaughter has 28 bites on her face and head alone. Also, we have a RZR and my daughter was taking the kids out of the campground and to some of the forest service roads for a ride and the campground host told her she couldn't ride around through the campground. She was not going over 10-15 mph and was only going from our campsites to the other Forest Service roads. We totally understand ATV's or UTV's that are racing through campgrounds being forbidden (by the way, there were none), but this was ridiculous and unnecessary policing. ||||If the mosquito issue is resolved, by all means book this area. The proximity to West Yellowstone and the access to the park are really great. Lovely...
