I cannot recommend Mountainside enough for a retreat if you are looking for one for your business or family/friends. It's wonderful for any stay, but is especially helpful in making retreats a memorable and transformative experience.||My wife and I hosted a retreat for 6 couples for 8 days. None of the couples knew each other at the beginning of the retreat, but by the end, they all seemed to have become lifelong friends.||I believe this happened for a few reasons. First, the property is built in the middle of the forest. It feels like a forest oasis that is quiet and away from the city. There are plenty of things to do on the property at Mountainside, so your entire group can stay and do activities together that can build teamwork and the relationships of the team you bring with you. Some of the things we did on property while we were there included yoga, forest bathing (if you aren't familiar with that, it's similar to mediation in the forest.. no water involved!), fly fishing lessons, fly fishing at the pond on site, kayaking, BBQ with the grill on site, campfires, and hanging out in the library on property.||The staff also helped us plan horseback riding nearby in Whitefish, and helped connect us with a private chef that we used on our final night to make us dinner under that pavilion on property. They also helped us plan a couple of morning yoga sessions, and forest bathing on property.||We spent a couple of days as a group in Glacier National Park, which is about an hour away. This was great because it was close enough to visit, and allowed us to go on a few hikes together. It further strengthened our group's coehesiveness and teamwork.||Mountainside is immersive since it's in the forest and it has an affect on your mental state to help you relax and have your worries stay behind while you are there. If you are planning a retreat and need your team to come closer together, Mountainside is the absolute perfect location. We wouldn't even question going anywhere else. Even though we are almost 10 hours away, we'd make the drive again because I don't know if there's any more perfect place for a retreat.||The house on property has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, a fully furnished kitchen, dining room, an office with a desk, and living room. We brought our 19 month old, 8 year old, and my mother-in-law to help watch our kids, and this house served a perfect place for them to stay while we did activities as a group. Our kids both absolutely loved the property as well. Our 8 year old actually told us that when he is older and has a family, he will definitely be bringing them to Mountainside.||The house has a large kitchen table and furniture and acts as a great meeting place if you want to meet with everyone in your retreat (which is what we did), and a firepit and pavilion that could also be used as a place to meet outside with your group. We hardly saw or felt a mosquito as well since they have machines all over property to keep the bugs away. There's also wifi on property, which is great since there is basically no cell service.||There are 6 separate rooms in one building about a block or so away (within walking distance) that are each like a hotel room. The outdoor space there encourages the people staying in them to hang outside together with picnic tables, a firepit, a porch, hammocks, and beautiful landscaping.||The breakfasts were also amazing and homemade. The gluten free loafs were to DIE for! We had food options to choose from each day that we texted staff the day before. They were also very accommodating with breakfast and our schedule of events that we had planned. The staff worked with us before our stay and went through what we had planned, gave us some suggestions of activities, and booked them for us. We had a couple of early days where we left to Glacier National Park, and the staff gave us our breakfasts the night before so we could have them early in the morning before we left.||I cannot recommend Mountainside enough! Read moreWe hosted a retreat for our past wedding couples at Mountainside Lodging a few weeks ago, and it was in a word, incredible. Our stay exceeded all expectations!
The couples we brought with us had never met, and we were thrilled to see how the atmosphere and environment created new friendships between them that will last a lifetime.
Some of the activities we did on property were yoga, forest bathing (similar to meditation), reading in the library, roasting smores by the fire pits, star gazing, playing games together outside the Coop, kayaking, fly fishing lessons and fly fishing on the pond, riding e-bikes and mountain bikes, and hiking. Mountainside also prepared a charcuterie board lunch for us near the pond, packed a picnic lunch for us to take as we made a trip to Kootenai Falls, and helped us book a private chef for our final group dinner.
Lorraine and her team provided an excellent experience from beginning to end. They dropped off a fresh, delicious breakfast to our door each morning. Each meal they provided also catered to any dietary restrictions we had, which was so nice to not have to worry about! The team at Mountainside also helped us before we arrived by guiding us as we booked different activities for our group like horseback riding, forest bathing, and yoga. It was helpful to have that expertise and connection!
We stayed in The Roost, which is a modern farmhouse-style home built on the property. It was beautiful and had all of the amenities that we could ask for! It made our stay in the forest a relaxing and comfortable experience! The other side of the property holds The Coop, which includes six suites perfect for couples or individuals.
Mountainside is about 30 minutes away from downtown Whitefish, which was the perfect distance to allow us to explore all that the city had to offer. The property is also about an hour away from Glacier National Park, which in my opinion is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful national parks in the country!
I would highly recommend Mountainside Lodging and Retreats for groups who are looking to create an experience. Whether that is an experience for employees or staff, for workshop attendees, or even to bring families together. Lorraine and her team will help you create an experience that you will never forget and forge relationships that will last a lifetime. I cannot wait until...
