The park overall is big and there are sections that are nice. However, the employees just kill whatever is good about it. There is a woman named Brenda that works at the front desk that is just plain miserable and rude. We needed to have some packages shipped, so I stopped by the front desk and asked if they accept packages. Brenda was there and she said yes, but only UPS and FedEx...they don't get USPS. Ok, great. So I had things shipped to that location. We are full time so shipping is necessity for us. I went to the office a few days later to pick them up and then Brenda (the same woman) tells me that's it's $2 per package to get them. What? I was surprised!! She never mentioned a fee the day I went in to ask. I would have shipped them to our next stop instead if I would have known that. So I brought it to her attention that we've traveled full time with Thousand Trails, fulltime for over a year and this was the first location that was charging. She, VERY rudely, responded saying that "it's in our TT contract and that the fees come straight from corporate". She then pulls out a sign from UNDER the desk that shows the fee. This sign WAS NOT on the counter when I went in the first day to ask. I was pissed at this point. I told her I would have to pay the multiple package fee with a CC because I didn't have cash. I wouldn't have been surprised by how rude she was and pulling out the sign from UNDER the counter, that this was a scam to pocket cash. So, I paid with my CC. I couldn't believe that this was a corporate rule, because everywhere would charge. So...I called TT. They said there is absolutely no rule like this and it's NOT in our contract! She did mention that it is the parks discretion to charge a fee if they want. I was surprised by this! This is TT park, not RPI, not Encore, a TT park! Shouldn't all rules, like this anyway, be the same? I sent an official complaint to TT corporate and are awaiting a response since I think this fee is absurd! We paid $$$ to even get a TT membership and pay $$ for maintenance every year, and now you want me to pay a $2/package fee to pick up my own packages?? Oh, and then to top it all off...I went in a day later to get the rest of my packages and a different woman hands me a form to fill out and informs me that as of May 1st of 2018, the fee is going up to $5/package and you need to fill in a form first before you have anything shipped there. Yes, you read that right....$5/PACKAGE!!! If you have 2 Amazon packages come in, that's $10! That's more than the shipping itself! Unfreaking beliavable! So, I filled out the form politely and said...oh no need to worry...we won't be coming back here. So, great job Lake Texoma TT!! I am not the only one in saying...hope the $2 (and soon to be $5) per package fee is worth it! You've officially lost my business! One, your employee blatantly lied about "corporate contract", and two, if she was just honest about the fees in the first time, I would have had them shipped elsewhere and this wouldn't be an issue. But because of her (and other rude staff) and your very UNREASONABLE fees...I will not be coming back. Beware potential campers, this location lies about fees and who knows what they'll charge for next without telling you and claiming they are "corporate" fees. Other than that, I wasn't overly impressed with the park....
Read moreWe were there this weekend for our annual family church event and were extremely disappointed. First, this facility was well aware that we had approx 50-70 people arriving and would be using some of their amenities to host our church event, cabins to stay in, the pool for family time with our children. Well we felt that this facility was a little racist by their staff and Brenda (the manager) seemed to be the rudest person there along with the staff in charge of the pool cleaning. Brenda needs a lesson in what it is to provide customer service and smile until you make it. Any time one of us would go ask a question in the office before we even finished our question she would snap back no. She said “everyone needed to get their car tag up front and we must enter using the gate code”. Well neither one of us got the gate code until we turned in our key on checkout. Also, it took two people to checkout one “white” customer and it was very obvious both were hesitant in checking out the “Latino” group because they kept looking up and ignoring us. Next, we were told that one of the pools could not be used because the power want working but there was a second pool we could use. On the day of, we went to use the pool and were told it wouldn’t be ready as they had to mix chemicals and that it would be a few hours. We went to check again up front if it was ready and they called back to the maintenance staff or who ever was in charge of cleaning the pool and with attitude he yelled back “it will be ready when I say it’s teady”. Later we found out it would be ready just in time for the adult party at night. This staff needs Jesus and customer service/anger management classes.
Now on to the cabins. They a cute cabins and we stayed in one that fit 6 people. They do not provide enough covers so take your own, you are required to clean up after yourself but I cleaned when I arrived and there was so much sand and dirt that I’m 100% sure it’s not enforced nor does the staff care to clean. You are required to move all the dirty covers to the bathtub, clean out the outdoor grill, wash all dishes, and dry and place them back where they go. The plus side is that they give you basic cookware, utensils, and plates.
In the end our group decided...

The good: the new section (F) of the park is clean the new section has leveled and spacious sites the location in proximity to the lake is great you can receive packages here for $5 per package
The bad: majority of the campground is older and run down they had electrical issues and we lost power 2 days for 6+ hours in the 100 degree heat they didn’t communicate about these outages or even scheduled repairs they have no way to send campers notifications pool and other amenities would be closed without notice or approximate time or reopening staff was clearly annoyed to communicate these troubles with campers staff seemed overall grumpy and customer service lacked new section has no trees or any plants around sites so no privacy or shade in the summer nearest grocery store is 40minutes away, nearby there’s gas station not much of a restaurant scene one of the pools was always closed- one or the other, it was a guessing game where and when to go playground is in embarrassing shape- a frame swings hanging without swings on it, old rusty slide (make sure you have your shots before sliding), just disappointing
Now, we understand power can go out and other issues can happen. However we’ve never seen a campground so poorly mismanaged and such poor customer service. When power went out there was no notification about it or any updates on how long it may be before it’s on- in June and 100 degrees. The campground doesn’t have any decent technology to send notifications leaving staff to answer phone and talk to each confused and upset camper, which obviously leads to cranky and overwhelmed staff.
If they had proper communication and had let us know power will be out on their scheduled repair day we would plan for our day to be spent with that in mind and feel better about the whole situation.
Overall we would not return here and we do not recommend this campground. Certainly not a destination camp but even so not even a decent one for a quick stop.
Photo is from a park nearby with lake access- one good thing about...
