The campground was clean, quiet and serene and the people providing customer service were wonderful all during my short stay that was supposed to be much longer. However, my review rating is due to the customer service system of Georgia Power Reservations. I spontaneously made my reservation needing a weekend to myself, and unfortunately had to leave within the hour of setting up camp due to unforeseen circumstances/ family emergency and left immediately. I called the campground and spoke with Donna before leaving to make sure if there was anything I needed to take care of before heading out and was told no worries and to call the next day once I got my bearings to get a refund. I made the reservation for the whole weekend (3 nights total) and called as soon as I got the chance to take care of it the next day. I called the reservation hotline and spoke with Jamie who initially tried to cancel and refund me, but was told she could not refund for any day of the 3, since it was past the first day (Thursday) and past check-in time that day (Friday) and within the 24 hour period of the last day (Saturday). Mind you, check-in is 3PM, and I called at 3:31PM not fully aware of the policy considering it was my first time with the campground and the circumstances I had to leave under. I know what it’s like to be a phone operator and the limitations you are under, so I made it clear I knew she could only do so much and wasn’t mad at her or her manager but did ask to speak with her manager to understand the system better. I asked for an exception at the very least for the last day, since I was still within 23 hours of the 24 hour window and not something insane like 2 hours before. I was told there would be no exception, there is no one else to talk to, and referred to the policy section on the website. Although frustrating, I’m not that upset at either of them but rather the system as a whole. Your employees don’t have anyone higher up or a system override to support them in this instance, which is a detriment to employee AND customer satisfaction. Yeah, it’s just $65 bucks and ultimately I want to support recreational services in the world, especially with how much they don't get support, but you don’t know what someone is going through or what that $65 means to that person, and for there to be literally no exception or support for either employee or customer in an extremely difficult situation, then you’re just making two people have a hard conversation and overall experience for no reason. I hope to still get my refund and there to be a revaluation of the system. I was told it was 48 hours before and then turned to 24 hours recently, so clearly the policy can be modified should it see room for improvement, even if the policies merely state additionally, no refunds unless requested by individual and approved by management, as opposed to no...
Read moreWe stayed here recently for two nights on our way back home from Destin FL with our 5th wheel. Overall, the campground is a nice campground and appears to be kept up pretty well. The bathhouse was nice and clean and had nice showers. For a limited time, they also had free laundry use of washer and dryers. We took advantage of that as sites are NOT full hookup. The only complaint we have overall was our site. We were in site 44 with a 36ft 5th wheel. Overall it had nice views of the creek. But this site is not very accommodating for 5th wheels as the site goes down, from the road and is not level at all. It was very very hard for us to get leveled to where the front of the RV was all the way down on the stabilizer while the back was all the way extended out. This site also has somewhat of a trail that walks right in front down at the creek so it makes it not that private and feels like someone just walking right through the site. Also recommend NOT leaving your awning lights on or any light on at all outside as Crain Flies are very bad here at night. We left them on to go to a DG a few miles down the road and came back where they were all over our RV outside and also inside. Would recommend camp host, letting guest know this. We would however consider coming back here again but definitely a...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting. I specifically told the camp hosts that I was there to swim, mentioning it a couple of times in the short conversation that we had at the gate when paying the day use fee. They took my money and directed my to the day use area. I get down there and there are signs everywhere saying "No Swimming - Alligators" What? When someone is telling you "the reason I came here today is to swim in this lake" and you know that there's no swimming, how about a heads up? It's only 5 bucks, but c'mon... save me the time and frustration PLEASE. Left very disappointed pretty much directly as it was 90+ degrees outside and I wasn't there to look at water, I was...
