Beware! Safety Concerns and Lack of Action at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Wichita Falls, TX
My recent stay at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Wichita Falls, TX was highly disappointing and left me deeply concerned for my safety. I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others about the serious issues I encountered during my time at the park.
The main problem arose from the presence of full-time residents in the park who seemed to have a close relationship with the staff in the office. After an incident involving their unleashed dog intruding into our yard, where our dog was leashed, the tensions escalated to the point where we had to ask them to leave our site. Unfortunately, this decision triggered a series of terrifying events that put both my fiancé and myself at risk.
After this incident, we started receiving threats from them and their friends, who stayed int the site directly behind us. These threats included violent acts towards our dog and personal physical harm towards us. They trespassed onto our site multiple times, making explicit threats on each occasion. To make matters worse, they would call the office to lodge false noise complaints against us whenever we were peacefully enjoying BBQs with our friends.
The situation reached its peak when two of their sons, accompanied by four other men, drove all the way from Fort Worth to physically assault us. We immediately contacted the police. Once they became aware that the police were being contacted, the individuals involved promptly left the scene, thereby avoiding any further escalation or confrontation. However, the threats persisted as their neighboring friends threatened to kill us and even brandished a gun, an incident that we have captured on video. We immediately contacted the police for a second time. This time, our call prompted a swift response, with three sheriffs arriving at the park to ensure our safety. Reports were filed.
We promptly reported these incidents to the office, providing them with the evidence we had gathered, including the video footage and pictures of the individuals involved in the assault. Shockingly, despite the overwhelming evidence, the management took no action against the perpetrators. They were allowed to remain in the park, leaving us with no choice but to leave for our own safety. Despite our decision to leave the park, we were taken aback when we received an email from the office staff requesting us to vacate the premises for the safety of the park. However, by the time we received this email, we had already left due to the unacceptable and dangerous circumstances we had experienced. This only adds to our disappointment, as it implies a lack of proper communication and a failure to prioritize guest safety in a timely manner.
I urge everyone to exercise extreme caution and prioritize their safety if considering a stay at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Wichita Falls, TX. The management's failure to address such serious safety concerns is deeply troubling and indicative of a disregard for the wellbeing of...
Read morePros: Nice pull-thru and back-in camper locations - on very good quality concrete pads, plenty of room to park as well. Required only a minimal amount of leveling, which was really great for me as I was setting up by myself. The swimming pools are really nice; one is designed more for the kids, the other one more for the adults, both better than most hotels. The kids' pool is attached to a laundry & shower center, both are situated close to the snack shack (which serves Pizza and Wings some nights). Free fish fry on Friday nights, which is really a nice touch. Beautiful trees and surroundings, especially given the part of Texas you are in. If you are planning a reception or luncheon, the dining facilities are top notch, Western styled, suitable for a formal occasion. Your kids will enjoy petting the Shetland ponies near the entrane. Staff is always helpful, I couldn't help but notice people are around making sure trash is picked up, pools are clean, furniture around the pools situated and so forth. They seem to be very concerned with how everything looks for the guests. A full brick chapel and a huge outdoor roofed awning for a reception or relaxing, just perfect for weddings. The parking lot is huge. I think the entire facility is well designed, the camper spaces are layed out where it makes for a nice walking path. It appearted pets are only allowed in the pull-thru camper area at the back, which seems like where more of the larger campers were and evidently the long-stay folks were camped out as well. Shower and laundry facilities are very Western looking and always perfectly clean. I'm definitely bringing my family here on a camping trip next Summer. It's quiet, the camp sites are excellent and kept mowed and clean.
Cons: As noted by other campers, the TV amplifiers are turned up way too strong, snow on the lower channels, however the stations are a family-friendly mix of most what you'd want if you are doing extended camping. My only BIG minus there is that the internet service, provided by some vendor called "Tengo" which supposedly specializes in RV sites; it is 24MBPS of the slowest, completely unusable Internet service anywhere. Most websites timed out, and couldn't be used at all. You can't really fault Coyote Ranch for this performance, but they definitely need to change ISPs before customers start getting po'd. I couldn't get even the simplest websites to load, and ended up using the 3G off my phone for Twitter; I could not access my employer's site to enter my timecard each day, which is what I really needed it for. There are plenty of other Internet providers, I certainly hope they'll change this soon.
Overall, this is a really great RV resort, and you'll be happy you came. Next time I'm shipped to Sheppard AFB again, I'll definitely be...
Read moreExcellent stay!! We’ve camped at Jellystone , Wichita Fall, TX before. But this time we took the grandsons (Carson -7, Jenson-4) with us for a Memorial Day weekend getaway. They had the time of their lives. Everyone was so helpful. A great staff of workers went out of their way to see that our grandsons had a great experience. Everyone had a pleasant and positive presence. A special thanks to Bailey, Danielle, Bree, Morgan, Jubilee, and Jared! ||Bailey and Danielle were great and so patient and helpful with the boys in the Activity Room with the crafts and games. ||Thank you, Bailey, for rescuing my cell phone, (which I left behind in the Activity Room one night). When I returned about 20 minutes later in the truck (because it was raining), Bailey came running out in the rain to bring me my cell phone because, “I didn’t want you to have to get out in the rain to come in to get your phone. Have a great night.’ ||The following day Danielle brought a water-ball over to the boys to play with in the swimming pool. These two girls took a real interest in our boys. They couldn’t have been better. ||Morgan and Bree were equally great in the store! They were so helpful in seeing that we knew where and when things were going on in the park. Told us all about the Jellystone app. They also made sure the boys had everything they needed in using their Ultra Fun Cards (Be sure and get those. Well worth the price for your kids and download that app). ||Our boys were so busy every day. We did almost everything in the park except ride the Barrel Train. On our departure day Jenson-4 wanted to ride that Barrel Train before we headed home. There was no one else waiting to ride the train but Jubilee climbed in the driver’s seat and away they went, just the three of them, on their special ride around the park. It was fantastic.||As our last thing to do before heading home, we walk over to the Yogi statue across from the Barrel Train to get a picture of the boys with Yogi, when here comes Jared running across the street offering to take pictures of all of us with O’ Yogi! We bumped into Jared numerous times while at the park. A great guy. Always asking if we were having a good time or needed anything. He away took time to talk to the boys to ensure that they were having fun. He was superb.||Carson-7 “I’m having the time of my life.”|Jenson-4 “I want to live here.”||Thnx again, to all the staff for helping our boys to have a great time. |Dee &...
