We tent camped on their Discovery 'Island', which isn't an island at all. It does require a walk over a small bridge, but it's just over swamp, not water. There's green slime covered swamp/water behind the tent sites, so beware if you have toddlers that wander off. You have to park & haul your stuff over that bridge & down a lane a bit to get to your site. They do have golf carts available to rent for $50 per 24 hours for your convenience. My biggest complaint is the road noise! I didn't sleep at all the first night! The 2nd night, my friend had ear plugs, but they didn't help at all! I still heard the noise from the big 4 lane highway this campground is on. Then, both nights, there were airplanes flying VERY LOW overhead & maybe even an airboat. We had booked 3 of the 4 sites. It might've been very awkward if someone else had that 4th site, though, considering the shared facilities. The place was clean & had most modern conveniences, such as a coffee pot, nice 2 burner hot plate, a microwave, a dorm fridge, a nice big covered pavillion with about 4 big picnic tables, 2 ceiling fans, multiple electrical outlets, a stand up charcoal grill, a great firepit with 3 benches around it, nice pots & pans, a sink & a bathroom with a normal single shower & good water pressure with hot water. It would've been quite difficult to coordinate meal prep & shower times if there were other campers! The jon boats available to rent looked pretty rough, so we rented a pontoon in Crystal River. The clubhouse has a mini gym, a pool table, some board games, a ping pong table, a full bookshelf & a video game with lots of popular games to choose from for .25. There’s also a nice playground & laundry facilities. There's wooden platforms that your tents go on. It's pretty easy to put your tent stakes between the planks. I won’t be back though, because of the road noise.

Should be zero stars! I totally agree with Mr. Acquavella's negative review. This is our honest review of what we experienced; we would not waste our time if it were not so. The review is for informational purposes only and not to try to ruin anything, purely your decision. You have been warned.

We totally agree with another review that warns of being nickel and dimmed to death. What appeared at first to be a competitive price turned pricey.

I repeat competitive not a bargain. The key to the restroom/showers was an extra $100.00. We were told that it costs $100.00 'PER MONTH' to have the restroom/showers cleaned. Wait, what? Ok, so every camper pays $100.00 when it only costs $100.00 PER MONTH to have it cleaned.

Brochure lies Wi-Fi is NOT FREE. Our hookup wasn’t working; found out it costs $50.00 to turn it on at our RV site.

As an electrical concern we told them about the light fixture on top of the marker post was lying on the ground, they put it back on top but didn't reattach it to any wiring, later it fell off.

We were charged $60.00 for four hours to rent a boat & trolling motor; ok that seemed competitive. Then the motor broke a few hours into our trip; the owner had to come and tow us home. We were told the motors were old and were shown the new ones that just arrived, then we had to fight to get a refund for not being able to use the boat & motor.

While cutting the grass they ran over, cut and broke our black water drainpipe. They DENIED doing it but, HELLO I showed them the grass cutter tire mark and cut across the pipe. Yet another fight, finally; they offered a dollar store replacement hose they use when they do damage a pipe. Wait, what? You deny damaging pipes but have replacement pipes for when you do. I said I was going to a RV store and buy the proper one. They would not pay for it.

We had heavy rains, the water from the catch basin behind our RV starting to overflow, coming out of the lid. We didn't say anything for fear of being charged to have the basin cleaned.

No fire ring at the site, there is only a community fire pit.

Roads are full of potholes; some are fairly deep.

Turning and backing in is super tight, sites are on top of and right behind each other.

The owner had the nerve to respond with a 'candy-coated' BS. reply. Instead of fixing their problems they tried to spin the comment saying I was lying. LYING? Ten problems I lied about; you can’t make these things up. Just ignore the reply, it is, pure gibberish and save your money and stay away.

God bless everyone and please be safe.

UPDATE: 10.19.21 @ 08:41 P.M. EDT The very fact that the owner keeps replying with candy coated replies proves there are some major problems with the resort.

The age of my report is IRRELEVANT because, when people contact me, I will tell the truth over and over again, period, without candy coating anything. As long as people ask, I will reply.

He slipped up by agreeing with my statement of saying the charge for using the bathroom facilities is $100.00 per month, each and every camper pays the same price; but it only cost $100.00 per month to clean the facility. Everyone pays yet he only pays a service once a month, OUCH!

When I shown him the lawn mower tire marks that crushed my black water pipe, he didn’t have a leg to stand on. If his lawn mower service didn’t crush it (because he said they NEVER crush pipes) then who did it? All of a sudden, he has spare pipes available! Why if your NEVER crush any pipe have some available?

Folks I could go on and on punching holes in his replies; let alone the stuff I did not report. He is just spinning his wheels trying to save face; if he is smart, he would stop replying because each time he digs a deeper hole for himself. God bless him!

The sad part is we trusted this place and were let down.

Thank all of you for contacting me and spreading the word; that is what camping friends do! Hopefully we will move on to our next campground review. God bless and...

RV park employees are very rude !! Very narrow maneuvering. Water coming out of spicket is between a rusty and yellow color. Low water pressure. No refunds if you are dissatisfied with your stay. Lots are not maintained. Tall grass. Lots are small. Most recently camped at lot 39, shared driveway with owners son. Smelled weed the whole time we were there. Not customer friendly !!!! YOU CANT SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED !!! This was our 3rd year in a row renting lot 35A November 4th - December 4th. We come down every year to visit our daughter and grandkids. This year we had already reserved lot 35A but due to flooding from the hurricane they had to move us to lot 39 which shared a driveway with the owners son (Mark). We were considered long term visitors per stated on our receipt. It says in the pamphlet that long term visitors could also wash RV's and Cars. On the Nov 16th my daughter and I had went fishing (salt water) in our boat and afterwards decided to fresh water wash down it at the campgrounds not thinking it would be an issue since my RV is twice as big as the boat, so it would take up much less water than washing an RV. Mark came out of his house screaming at my son in law, daughter and I for washing our boat.... I apologized to him not knowing it was an issue. He continued to complain to us that he only has 1 operational pump for the entire campgrounds and did not nearly have enough fresh water to provide for all his cabins and campground lots, let alone us washing the boat. I again apologized to him and we quit washing the boat immediately. I again told Mark there was no way for me to know that he is having water issues, and if I had known I would never have washed the boat. The next day I had my small Maltese dog (Ivory) outside going to the restroom and Mark approached me saying that my dog needs to be on a leash in a sarcastic way. I told him I would get her in a leash right away. From then on we (the whole family) felt very uncomfortable. We could feel the tension between the owners and us. No greetings or even eye contact. We decided to leave because of the uncomfortable vibes. We didn't say anything, Mark seen us packing, did not say a thing. We just left. We were suppose to pay our electric but had a $75 deposit and figured they would contact us if more was owed. We have our beginning and ending meter reading just in case. We...

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars because honestly it isn’t a 3 but it isn’t a 4 either. Stayed for Labor Day weekend and was really looking forward to set up camp, fish, and use our kayaks. We chose this site for those amenities and based on photos of the river from the website. It’s a beautiful location. The staff is super friendly and the other campers were super friendly too. The view from the RV sites is top notch. Really cool seeing all the airboats pass and all the gators hanging out (also slightly terrifying). Super peaceful. My only two complaints: 1. The facilities were kind of gross. My husband showered with his crocs on. 2. The amount of grass and weeds growing around the site, in the water, is insane. They did clear some of it Sunday evening but we were left wondering why they didn’t try to clear it before the holiday weekend. We were told Sunday that all the grass would be back this morning but Monday morning you could still see the areas that were cleared. Other campers we befriended also were bummed that it took til the end of their trips to get some clearage. We paid $276 for 3 nights to be able to fish and kayak. There were no fish because the grass was so bad. It was a STRUGGLE to get our kayaks out because the grass was so thick. other campers even broke oars trying to get out (the oars are left outside with the life jackets)- one being charged $40 dollars for one. We rented a jon boat and the motor died on us, leaving us to paddle up stream for an hour and a half (probably should of called to be rescued 🤣). They did let us switch out the boat for a golf cart which was nice to have to bring our trash to the dumpsters etc so that was very nice. But not being able to fish or kayak easily, left us bored. But, being bored forced us to relax! So silver lining? Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would come back as long as there isn’t a huge amount of overgrowth surrounding the site in the water, so we can fish and...
