This is our first review. We travel and eat out quite a bit, but have never felt compelled to send in review. First of all, we were treated like royalty at the Die Heimat Country Inn by owners June and Marc Hershberger. On the day of our arrival, a snow storm struck central Iowa and the Hershberger's concern for our safety was evident when they phoned us when we were about 20 miles away to see if we needed help. We live in northern Minnesota and are well-acquainted with winter driving and arrived at he Amana Colonies a short time later to a warm welcome; a beautiful canopy bed with wonderful COMPHY sheets(the shortest we have ever slept in) and a spotlessly clean and quiet room tastefully decorated(such as the porcelain vanity tray from Paris). We feasted on a delicious gourmet breakfast selected from June's own published cookbook. We purchased the Amana Petite Meat and Cheese Package to enjoy for lunch (on the road) later in the day. And that's not all! Marc went out to the parking lot and personally snow-blowed the drifts which had barricaded our car during the night. All in all, we would recommend the Die Heimat Country Inn for anyone interested in exploring the Amana Colonies. thank you June and Marc. Ron & Debbi L'Amie Grand Rapids,...
Read moreThis was the first time my Wife and I stayed at a B&B. We received a gift certificate as a gift from my Wife's Parents. Due to COVID shutdowns, delays, and everything else going on we were not able to use it by the expiration date. My wife called and talked to June and they were so kind to extend the expiration date so we didn't miss out on this thoughtful gift.
My wife called and made a reservation for a Sunday night. Upon arrival, we were greeted by June. She was friendly and very helpful with where to visit and things to do while in Amana. Our room was clean. My Wife and I own and operate a Vintage Antique Store, so we loved all the vintage antique decor. During breakfast we had a nice conversation with Marc and he shared a little history about Die Heimat and Amana which was pretty interesting. We really enjoyed our stay. Running a small business, we only had time to stay one night. So even though it was a short visit, it truly was a welcoming and relaxing stay. Thank you so much to the both of you! We would definitely recommend others to stay here, as you just might see us back before...
