IT IS NOISY!!! NOISY, NOISY, NOISY!!! And did I mention the noise? When I called to ask about an RV site, I told Chris that I needed some quiet, after weeks of traveling with campgrounds near busy highways and railroads. He said that I called the right place. Some of the reviews mention how peaceful it is. I don't understand. The reviewers are either deaf or liars. The video is 10 or 12 seconds of the traffic noise we heard all the time. There is no quiet ever. This is in NO way an RV Resort. It's a fishing camp plain and simple, no frills. Next is the road into the place and inside the park. It is full of potholes and ruts. We could see where some pothole filling has occurred. But it's still very rough. Our site was not near level. By the time we got leveled, the passenger side, where the exit is, was so high that there was about a 2 foot drop from the bottom step to the ground. The two bathrooms are in a roughly 7 foot by 7 foot building. There is one bathroom for men and one for women. So each is about 7 feet by 3 and a half feet. There is a toilet, a sink, and a wastebasket in each. The women's side was disgusting! Someone evidently had diarrhea and didn't bother to clean up after themselves so there was feces in the toilet, on the toilet, and around the toilet. I just opened the door and backed away. I couldn't tell anyone because Chris left at 6. There are a few good things here. The power was good. The water pressure is high and the water tastes good. Chris is a friendly guy, very funny. He told us that quiet hours are 9 pm to 7 am. He neglected to tell us that the road noise was nonstop 24/7/365! So bottom line is this is your kind of place if you like fishing, have lost most of your hearing, or can sleep through a gun battle. For anyone who still has their hearing, just...
Read moreDo not stay here! When we arrived there was someone still in our spot.. After much confusion and 45 minutes later they put us in lot 46 (Not far from the Quack Shack). There is zero cell service! The grounds are not kept up. We asked twice for them to mow because the grass was over our steps and the response was..."yeah I think we have someone who can do that". It wasn't done. The 3rd time I called to ask but they could not hear me because there is no cell service! The hookups are on the wrong side of of the sites, which means if you wanted to eat at the picnic table you would need to wade through the grass and eat right beside your sewer hose! When we booked they said they had cameras all over and good security but we were near the entrance and our truck was hit by another vehicle in the middle of the night and when we asked them to check the camera footage to see who did it, they said they had none on our side. The entrance???? The staff is disorganized and not in any hurry to help. Our experience was so bad that we are leaving two weeks early. I would not give it zero stars as the marina is pretty at night. That is the only positive thing I can say.
Update: Although the owner put a nice response on this review...neither the owner or manager returned my call or my request for a refund of only the days we lost due to having to move. I can handle a bad experience here or there, but if you do have one here, they won't...
Read moreTucked away on the water, The Quack Shack is a hidden gem that offers more than just a meal—it’s an experience. The first thing you notice as you step inside is the subtle sway of the building, gently rocking with the water below. It's just enough to remind you that you’re dining on a floating oasis, but not so much that it feels unsettling.
As soon as the door opens, the scent of sizzling burgers hits you like a warm welcome. Richard, the man behind the counter, was attentive and knowledgeable, making sure everything was just right. The Shack’s special—a burger and a side—had me opting for their fresh-cut fries, perfectly seasoned with a touch of Lowery's, adding just the right amount of kick.
But let’s talk about the burger itself. It’s hands down one of the best I’ve had in years. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it brought back memories of my last visit four years ago, and somehow, it was even better this time around. Whether you’re driving in from Dallas, Greenville, or Plano, this place is absolutely worth the trip.
What sets The Quack Shack apart is not just the food, though it’s easily the highlight, but the overall atmosphere. You can even cast a line and do some fishing while you're there, and with a covered area to shield you from unpredictable weather, there’s no reason not to stop by. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience that delivers both great food and a laid-back lakeside vibe, this...
