Wonderful! I reserved over 30 rooms for our daughter's wedding. We were there for the better part of a week, with our guests using every imaginable configuration of room, from small to two-room hospitality suites.
The old inn apparently needed demolishing, and they did just that. The inn is mansion-like, with cathedral ceilings in the lobby, upscale reception table (not a counter), 24/7 coffee or water/lemonade available, public sitting room, business center (one PC), and lots of staff. Right on the golf course. Solid construction - dead quiet.
The Inn is owned by the University of the South (aka "Sewanee") and they should be rightfully proud of what their construction group, architect, landscapers, and the new management company have done.
We experienced some punch-list items (the Inn opened 11 days earlier), but they'll all done by now (finishing the turf, touch-ups here and there). The staff was over-the-top helpful and did their utmost when their newness showed. Lunch and dinner are coming. Not sure about room service, which was not available these first 2 weeks.
The hotel is semi-green: toilets have a special green lever for "light" use, but there was no signage to avoid towels being washed every day, which some granola folks like me prefer.
Cell vs WiFi: The Sewanee campus is notorious for lousy cell service. The Inn has the fastest WiFi I've ever experienced: use Skype via WiFi as an alternative.
Pros: tremendous re-launch of a University icon. Stately, quiet, eager service. Short walk to the center of campus; 10 minute walk to the School of Theology. Cons: the closets are too small and, in the largest rooms, appear to be solely for disabled persons (i.e. there are no hangers above 3' off the ground - not...

When I booked the room originally, I was told there was one king size bed room left which I booked right then and there and expected to get when I arrived. I was given a room with two double beds which I realized when my husband and I were suddenly almost hanging off the bed. When I brought this to their attention, the lady (the same one I booked with in person) got an attitude and told me she actually did me a favor and that they didnβt have any other rooms because there was an event going on. Although her attitude wasnβt pleasant, she did offer a small discount. The hotel is relatively nice; situated on a golf resort so the accompanying snootiness was all there. There arenβt many options in the area so I had to settle since I had a CFI checkride at the Sewanee Airport and this was the closest spot. The restaurant has no vegan food...
Β Β Β Read moreWhat a wonderful experience! This was the absolute perfect location to host our wedding! From the rehearsal dinner to the day-after brunch our guests experienced the elegance and efficiency of the Inn, and never had to find another parking place! For the six months leading up to the event, event coordinator, Marina Johnson, made planning a joy! She always said βyes,β and found a way to make all our complicated plans come together perfectly. The banquet manager worked with our many requests and preferences, and Dennis, at the door, was kind and helpful to us, and our many guests. A wonderful bonus has been how beautiful the Inn looks in all our photographs! A great backdrop, and we really felt as though the Inn was an extension of our home, and the staff, our family, as we welcomed guests from around the world! Not getting married again, but will leap at the chance to coordinate another lovely event at the Sewanee Inn! Photos:...
