Keep in mind I ended up staying here due to a winter storm, so that I wouldnt have to drive home and then back to work in dangerous road conditions. That said, I was almost completely satisfied with my stay. The only issue I had was with the shower/tub combo. The tub was a decent size, and the shower looked big enough at first, but with the lack of waterproof wall, the shower curtain had to completely enclose you on all sides to prevent splashing, and the slanted roof shortened how far the curtain rod jutted out. Basically, a little over half the tub was all I got for shower space. Normally, I wouldnt care, except it was a loose curtain. Once the fabric gets wet, it clings. I ended up being hugged on all sides by the curtain for almost the entire shower, and there was no way to prevent the cling without shoving it away constantly. If there'd been something to pull the curtain a little away from my body, like some adhesive on the wall and sink, or something to keep it pulled taut so the air flow/pressure wouldnt push it towards me, it would have been a perfectly acceptable shower.
Other than that, I absolutely loved every bit I got to see and experience. The entire property was gorgeous, from the front lawn to my room. I stayed on the 3rd floor with a sun facing window. The window did not have a traditional curtain, but instead had interesting blackout blinds. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room quaint in size. I even liked the slight creak to the floorboards, as it gave the place more character in my opinion. There was not TV or microwave in the room I was staying in, but I dont mind the lack of those amenities. The room and it's price was perfect for my minimal needs, and it still looked beautiful while fulfilling them. If I ever get the chance to simply stay for my own enjoyment, I'd be happy to stay there, either in the same room or another.
The innkeeper/concierge, Rich, was very pleasant, almost peppy when he greeted me and checked me in at 530 in the morning. He also had a room on site, with his own dog (the inn is pet friendly), and though the dog made a little noise when I first arrived and started up to my room, the dog quickly quieted down once Rich spoke to it. Being a (noisy) dog owner myself, it didnt bother me, and I slept like the dead all day long.
All in all, I'd give it a 4.9 rating if I could, with only the touch-starved shower curtain to mar the score. From other photos and reviews, I believe this is the only room with this issue, and it's purely due...
Read moreAndy the owner is a sad man with nothing better to do than to hate on his guests.
Behind a false hospitality lies a man who is deeply disturbed. Not a friendly man.
We messaged him on a booking app hours before showing up and he didn't respond- we headed to his hotel anyways, hopeful that he would allow us to check in. He did- and apologized, allowing us to upgrade our room for free. He mentioned we needed to come by 11pm, which we did. We spent about 20 minutes (and partially by foot trying to figure out where the parking lot was, as the path was not well lit at night.)
At the end of our checkout though, he left us a review complaining about how we were late- and checked in past time! (If we were late, why did he apologize and feel the need to give an upgrade on the house?)
Noting the doors do not lock properly and the walls are THIN!!! Zero privacy. You can hear every word that your neighbors say. We also caught Andy in the hallway listening into our door and completely disrespecting our privacy. During our stay, I was drinking tea and was asked to not bring the cups upstairs- or to "drink on certain tables only". He practically screamed at me when I put a tea cup on a center table (on top of a napkin). Made me want to leave immediately!!!
He ignored us on multiple occasions to tend to other guests, and on our checkout was bragging that he had “a group of 10” coming. So unprofessional!
The owner is the only staff member, and clearly is in charge of cleaning as well because he left comments about beard trimmings in the sink and dirty tissues! Just to clarify, this is an Inn! Not a typical home where you are asked to clean up after yourself. This made me wonder how well the rooms are actually cleaned between stays? Those comments make it seem like they flip rooms without actually properly cleaning them. Concerning.
Another review suggested that he owned the Yankees… which is laughable. If they are so well off then why are they running the inn themselves without staff?
If you want a nice place to stay in, don't stay here!!!...
Read moreI don’t typically leave negative (see previous TripAdvisor) reviews, but our experience at the Windsor Mansion Inn was incredibly unpleasant. The setting itself is charming, and the initial impression of the property is genuinely interesting. However, hospitality extends beyond the setting — and that’s where things fell apart.||The main room is oddly decorated, dominated by a large table covered in plastic, and the space carries a faint musty smell. ||We arrived 50 minutes before check-in (4:00 p.m.) and were met with zero flexibility or warmth. The innkeeper did not even check if our room was ready or nearly ready, instead suggesting we wait in a dark, unlit “pub” room or return later. ||I explained we would not be back in the area until later, and we left with our bags. For context, there are two doors leading out of the main room — one into the entryway and another to the outside. Upon our departure, one of the doors was left open; I do not recall which.||When we returned around 9:30 p.m., he remained curt, reciting strict rules about the coffee station—complete with instructions on hand sanitizing and composting coffee grounds. While cleanliness is appreciated, his manner felt excessive and awkward, especially for a property open to the public and marketed as a welcoming Inn.||When I asked about breakfast, he sharply confirmed we had booked the “full American breakfast,” describing it as an “egg product and a meat product,” which struck me as an odd and clinical way to describe it. Moments later, he abruptly pushed back his chair and called us the “only a$$h*les of the night” for leaving a door open earlier in the day.||I immediately requested a refund and cancellation after that profanity, which he granted. When I asked for his name, he sarcastically said, “Pudden Tane;” his actual name is Andy. The interaction was bizarre. ||We received confirmation of cancellation by email and left. The lack of courtesy and professionalism was astonishing. We won’t be returning or...
