If you have any questions if you should book a stay here….JUST DO IT. This is our second time staying here. Both visits we stayed at the Bent Tree Cottage. Both visits were incredible! There was plenty of space in the cabin for our family of 8 people. The upstairs area has 3 full/queen sized beds and a bathroom. Downstairs there is a bedroom with one bed, and the other with two large beds. The kitchen is big and it has a lot of the basic dishes and utensils already in there. The kitchen table was so nice because it’s big and we were able to have everyone at the table for a sit down dinner every night while we all caught up and visited. There was plenty of room on the couches to chill out at night while we all got our showers in and winding down! (Also - with all 8 people showering, one after another, we never ran out of hot water!) We found board games in the hall closet and that was a nice little bonus, even though we didn’t have a chance to play them! Outside is absolutely amazing. Waking up early and having coffee outside before everyone woke up, watching the lake and enjoying the morning was just what I needed to recharge. The cabin comes with a peddle boat and two kayaks, right there at your own personal dock. If you need more kayaks, stand up paddle boards, life jackets or other things, they have them at the office. The kids (and adults too!) had a blast jumping off the dock and swimming in the lake. The lake is just big enough to kayak or boat around without getting too far away, but small enough to still feel close and private. We did try fishing but only caught one real small fella that went back in the lake. We saw a ton of fish swimming near and under the dock. Some pretty big ones too! We also enjoyed the petting zoo (you can get animal snacks and fish food too, at the office!), splash pad, basketball and pickle ball! We tried EVERYTHING lol you can get the pickle ball boards at the office. We also booked horseback riding! Limit was 5 people and 8 years old and above. Be sure to book quick. I waited until we arrived and barely got a spot the day before we left after our 5 day trip. The horse riding was awesome and Jake and the young lady at the stables were so great! We loved talking to them both! They were super helpful and made sure the little ones were safe and secure! The fire pit was awesome and had lots of chairs to use while we sat around in the evening. There were two grills, both charcoal. The round ones. They worked just fine for us and no complaints there. We missed seeing Blue this time sadly! We will try again next...
Read moreWe visited in July and had a great time. It was a nice place to relax and stay safe during the pandemic. There are so many things to do at no extra charge. There is a nice beach on the lake and you can get kayaks, paddle boats, or paddle boards for free. It's nice for swimming or just relaxing and enjoying the sun. There are many homes right on the lake for rental that seem to be the more popular options. I liked them, but felt they were too close to each other, so not too private. We stayed in the Nature's Nest home and found it perfect for our liking. It is very private and has a beautiful private backyard with nice deck with a grill and fire pit for keeping cozy at night. The home is cute and cozy. It's big enough for 4-5 people. It's fully open and has a nice sized kitchen and living area. The bedroom is nice and big too with lots of closet space. Some board games are available in the room. The kitchen is fully stocked and had everything we needed to cook our own meals. There is a big fridge with enough room for lots of food if you are planning to cook your meals. The cabin is located near several trails that are easy to walk. There is a small pond across from the cabin that my son used to play with his toy boat. We got to relax and disconnected from everything. Exactly what we needed. ||||There were some things that can improve with the home. The AC is very loud at night to the point that the room shakes when turning on. It is gets the room very cold and it's was hard to set to a comfortable temperature. The home itself looks a bit worn down and could use some updating. A new coat of paint, a nice thorough cleaning, patching some holes, etc. All those things would give it a nice look. The bath room also needs some updating. The tub is very small and the water backed up when showering. It's dark in the shower too which can be solved by using a lighter curtain that will allow more light in. The home smelled musty when we first arrived. Fortunately, I had some deodorizer that helped with that.I get that it gets dirty outside and it hard to maintain, but it would be nice if they cleaned the spider webs and furniture. Some of those webs are thick and all over the place in the...
Read moreWhen thinking about our experience, delightful is the first thing that comes to mind. We were originally scheduled to stay in the Allen House, but they had a problem and upgraded us to the Kangaroo Corner, and it couldn't have worked out better. ||||We had 2 couples and each of us brought our dog. Kangaroo Corner was great for this as it was somewhat separated from the other cabins, and allowed us to keep our dogs in our own area. Blue, the ranch dog, came to visit us multiple times and got along great with our gang. He came in and watched a movie with us during our last night at the cabin!||||I am giving 5 stars, but with the understanding that this is a 'cabin'. There are spiders and ants outside, and while everything inside is 100% functional and perfect for its use, you won't be wowed by fancy shampoos or amazing artwork on the walls. There is no room service. The internet didn't work very well (it would be difficult or impossible to take zoom calls in your cabin, at least Kangaroo; you would want to go to the office for that) but that was part of the charm. What you will fall in love with is sitting on the porch in the morning, listing to the crickets in the trees, and. Nothing. The calm lake in front of you. Contemplating how you survive in the stress-packed environment you got away from. And even better with your dog sitting at your feet, also enjoying the amazing presence of nature. ||||The staff was awesome (thanks Jazz, Jasmine and Megan!) and we enjoyed the escape room, rented a UTV for half a day (you DEFINITELY need to see the rest of the property and not just the main lake), and did the hay ride. It helped tie us into Deer Lake, and the feeling of getting right. We also Kayaked and paddle boarded and took advantage of some of the included ammenities. We will be back, and are wishing we had stayed a...
