This is near the bottom of the list of New Jersey campgrounds I've been to. There is lot of potential, but with better options nearby there isn't much reason to go back.
The bad: 1. The majority of sites are right on top of each other, with at least one adjoining site that it feels like you're sharing space with. 2. The water spigot I used had some funky tasting water with floaties and an oily sheen on top. I'm not usually picky about well water, but I went out and bought some bottled for this trip. 3. Even though you drive back into the forest for a while to get to the campground, you still hear the constant drone of the highway.
The good: If you're into gravel cycling, there are a ton of low traffic dirt roads along with the 50+ mile long Batona trail running right through...

The trails were well marked and maintained. There is a picnic area at the pond. There is also a nature center and playground near the entrance to...
Read moreI'm giving this campground mixed reviews because it's too expensive from a Batona Trail hiker's perspective. On the plus side, the bathrooms are super clean, and it has large camping spots with water. It's a really well cared for campground. The main problem is that the minimum # of nights you can reserve online is 2 nights, and it's $20/night, so it's quite expensive. If you're thru-hiking the Batona Trail, you've got to spend $40 (with one night of your reservation just wasted)....
