We had a great stay in this spotless camp. The camp host Steve keeps the camp spotless. He is always around if you need anything or to ask questions but never intrusive. It is paved all the way to camp and into your site but it is all uphill, 7 miles.
The sites on the outside of the loops have 4 pens, inside have 2 pens. Each loop only has one water source, near the toilets. Bring a method to transport water back to your site.
Sites have a table and fire ring. Each loop has a couple manure pits and wheel barrows.
There is no cell service at all in camp.
Trails are numerous, plenty for a week of riding. Some easy some harder. Prepare your maps before you arrive. The trails are very well marked in most places.
Reserve your site on line. There are first come first serve sights but best to reserve what you need. A couple sites are double, 2 groups of 4 pens and room...

First of all, McBride Lake no longer exists. There is simply a sandy, dry hole where it used to be and no clear way to get down there.
Second, this trail is tough and mostly because of the terrain. You might as well take a 9 mile stroll through the deep, soft sand at the coast. That being said, we only encountered one other hiker along the trail.
All in all, not a favorite, would not do again, and likely would not recommend.

The restroom within the camp was very clean, parking was easy and the guests I encountered were...
Read moreGreat place to take your shod horse. Lots of campsites with trailer parking and small paddocks for your horses to relax in after the long trailer ride there. There are lots of trails that range from intermediate to advanced. IMO "beginner" applies to rides like Battle Ground Lake and Whipple Creek, and while one trail is labeled beginner it is far too rocky to consider a beginner trail. We saw a barefoot horse turn up lame and his weekend was cut short. Very sad. Make sure you keep an eye on the terrain and check your truck and trailer tires before you...
