Welch Cabin: A License To Chill — Hotel in Woodland

Having known the Welches since I was a child, and being lucky (and local) enough to have access to this incredible getaway for the better part of my life, I’m not sure words are enough to express how great it was to be back. I’ve spent many summer and fall weekends floating in the glacier-cold river, sitting around a campfire, singing and playing guitars, laughing, drinking, and eating some of the best meals with the many friends and family who have been lucky enough to join us. Knowing the cabin is accessible to so many others now is such a joy. This stay couldn’t have been better. The host, Dan, met us on arrival and was extremely thorough when sharing everything that had changed since we’d last been, and how to utilize it all. We were blown away by the upgrades, with the electricity, WiFi, a land-line phone, refrigerators, new stove, etc., and it created a much different experience than the trips of my youth with no power, no cell service, and certainly no internet, though I loved that disconnected time just the same. That old feeling still came easily while I sat on the deck overlooking the river reading a mystery novel with my phone nowhere to be found. My sweet, 14 year old pup was just as content as the rest of us to lounge around and take in the quiet. We were visited by osprey and eagles while staring down at the river looking for fish, and truly that was the only entertainment we needed. We can’t...

This place was a dream. Quiet and private, beautiful views and the right mixture of cabin and nature. The cabin was perfect and cozy for the 4 of us. The kitchen had everything we needed, the fireplace warmed the whole place in our cold November stay and the peace and quiet was just what we needed. The town is just a short (and beautiful) drive away which was helpful when we forgot our smores needs and there was plenty of hiking, fishing and chilling options. My favorite part was sitting in the deck overlooking the river with tea in hand and just remembering what life is really about and playing board games at night in the cozy cabin l, making memories with friends. It’s only been a week since we were there and already thinking about our next stay.

Tim, Lee and Sharon were amazing. Went above and beyond to accommodate us. Interacting with them felt like old friends from the first text. They were so kind, responsive and fun. Truly made my experience fun and easy from the first text.

Dan, who met us at the house to show us around immediately put a smile on my face. He was kind and funny and even checked in halfway through (via text) to see if we needed anything which was above and beyond while still respecting our privacy.

Our stay at Welch Cabin felt like a dream and I absolutely cannot wait to go back! It was immediately obvious how much love has gone into building and maintaining the property and I’m impressed by how thoughtfully the cabin was prepared for our visit. There were extra blankets (it gets chilly!) and towels (the shower was addictive!) and a surplus of portable lanterns, firewood and all of the little things I hadn’t thought to bring (the French press in the kitchen really saved the day for me!).

Communication with the host was delightful and easy and the caretaker, Dan, was lovely and incredibly helpful getting us set up and explaining how things worked. He truly went above and beyond to make sure things went smoothly for us.
