Honest review:
We rented the Family Glamping Site and were looking forward to spending two nights here in mid July with our young kids, but unfortunately the space was a bit dirty when we arrived. I would not leave a negative review based off of a simple mistake that could easily be fixed, but poor communication from Wendy and Chris made me feel like it was important to let folks know what they can expect. We didn't stay here either night of our booked trip.
We first arrived with directions to a different site, but all other sites were taken, so we assumed this was the correct site. I did not confirm with Chris or Wendy until they replied later the next day. The bedding had slobber stains and was covered in hair. I was told the previous guests had dogs, so the dogs probably slept in the bunk beds and weren't cleaned. But Chris and Wendy assured me that they couldn't find anything, even a single hair. When they asked for pictures, I sent them a couple as evidence and never heard back. The rest of the space inside the tent was not bad, but we didn't want our kids sleeping in dirty beds. So Night 1 of our trip, we made the decision to stay elsewhere.
Day 2 of our stay there was a pretty nasty hail storm with thunder and lightning all day. Monument Glamping guaranteed our money back if there was inclement weather that forced us to stay at another location. Unfortunately, Chris and Wendy were still silent when I brought this up to them via email. I have not heard back from them since I sent photos and I have reached out multiple times.
Some more things to note: There is hot water on the tap to fill up the tub, which is very nice! We didn't use it, but would have under different circumstances. The outdoor tub was filled with a couple inches of still water in the bottom (just above the drain plug on the side) because it wasn't tipped over to drain all the way. Some dead bugs, flies, mosquitos, and green algae sittin in the water and tub. When I lifted the tub to drain it out, there was a nest of black widow spiders and their egg sacs underneath. You are camping, there are gonna be bugs everywhere, but anyone with a fear of spiders might like to be warned. In a dry climate, you gotta watch out for black widows in dark, damp spaces. And with little kids at the family glamping site, you probably want to keep an eye on the tub and tub area if you are cleaning the site..
The camp sites are nice. Family glamping isn't very private, as it's directly behind their house. If you want to explore the creek, the only way to get access to it is through other campsites, so if you feel comfortable walking through someone else's site, you'll gain access to the creek. The rest of the sites are pretty secluded, at least during the summer. Lots of overgrown plants line the dirt trail to drive/walk down to the other sites, depending on which site you're at, your car could get scratched, but lots of privacy. Just want to be thorough about their space! We have a big SUV and it left a couple scratches when we drove the loop. Not the end of the world.
MAKE SURE YOU BUY PROPANE. I thought propane was included in the price, but it's not, so be sure to buy some if you stay here! Can't use the grill or fire without propane!
TLDR; All in all, I would say it's not worth the $200 or so per night fee. I am disappointed that we did not receive a full refund due to #1 a dirty space and #2 pretty severe weather. If there's thunder and lightning all day, and half inch balls of hail, I'd say thats severe enough to consider not staying. If it was a quick summer storm that passed through, maybe not, but it hit Colorado Springs area all day. We also didn't hear back if they replaced the bedding after I emailed them pictures. Don't trust their refund guarantee.
I did get refunded the $65 cleaning fee because we didn't use the space. Hopefully your trip to Monument Glamping is better than ours! I'm sure under the right circumstances, you can have great time, but I do not feel it is worth the price tag, poor communication, and generally not very...
Read morei’m newer to the Glamping scene and never camped, so I didn’t have much or the more accurate expectations. When staying in the bell tents, I would recommend for anyone used to camping or glamping with limited services. If you are looking for glamping that has full ensuite washrooms, houskeeping turn down service, food and beverage room service. This is not the spot however… Chris and Wendy provided amazing service and communication. I booked direct on their website however there is apparently an App too ! Tent had a welcome bottle of wine which was a nice touch. Bed was really comfortable with lots of layers for colder night. However during the day in the sun the tent warms up quickly ! Washroom facilities were an issue for me but I blame this on myself with not understanding prior to booking. Each bell tent has their own covered outhouse toilet with no running water. For showering Chris was nice enough to bring a hot shower bag down. I would pack your own bathrobe to make those trips in the middle of the night or early morning warmer. Setting was beautiful, next to the babbling creek. Surprisingly you could still hear the interstate highway at night. However much less than of coarse staying at one next to the highway. Also driving down to the sites the road is a bit rough, I had a Jeep rental but if I brought my Audi sports car it would have bottomed out. Overall a great stay! Next time I would probably book one of the larger safari tents with the private hot tubs !! Again my fault for assuming it was like a...
Read moreJust a little bit of a birthday disappointment.
I really liked the idea of Monument glamping sites — the surroundings are peaceful and quiet while still being within a reasonable drive from the Denver metro area. The sites are well kept, and it’s such a nice touch to have a private bathroom, hot tub, and the basics for grilling and eating.
When we arrived, all of the propane tanks at our site were empty, and it was quite cold. Eventually, someone (I believe one of the owners) did come out to help, which I appreciated, but it did take a bit of time. My friend and I were in the hot tub since it was dark, cold, and our only heat source at that point.
We started in the Stargazer but requested to move for our second night because the two propane heaters just weren’t keeping up with the cold. Our second night was in the Classic container home — a creative and fun setup, but still pretty chilly. The AC/heater unit didn’t seem to heat up (we followed the directions in the book), and while the little fireplace added some charm, it didn’t provide much warmth.
Overall, it’s a cool concept in a convenient location, and I can see how it would be an amazing experience in warmer months. With more reliable heating for colder nights, this would be a truly...
