First of all, the hotel itself was very nice. It was clean, the room (w/ king bed) was as hotels go average in size, no bad odors, very clean and comfortable. That's about all the good I have to say! It's a shame, we travel to Mt. Hope 5-6 times per year to the auction center and wanted to make this a regular for us. But never again! The shower does NOT have any place to put any shampoo/conditioner bottles, whatsoever. There is a little corner shelf, big enough to put that little sliver of courtesy soap, and that's it. Anything else has to be placed on the shower floor. I booked the room online, and that was my first mistake. It was during the Covid-19 scare (middle of May) when places started to open up again. I figured the hotel is open for business, that's great! There where ZERO disclaimers online about lack of service to be expected during our stay. I booked in April, and a month later arrived on a Friday evening around 5:30 pm. The front desk clerk was friendly but very uninformative! I went upstairs to my room, and then realized she didn't give me any information on breakfast the next morning. So I went downstairs again to inquire and was told there would be no breakfast served due to the pandemic. Oh, there might be some pre-packaged muffins available, she wasn't really sure since she hasn't been to work since Tuesday. There is also some boxes of dry cereal but they wouldn't have any milk! How ridiculous! I understand all that about not being able to serve fresh foods, but there are lot of choices for pre-packaged breakfast foods, that could have been made available. But the worst of all was her attitude and indifference to my situation! Could care less, and THIS should have been mentioned on their website at time of booking. A person can come prepared that way. So, anyone that knows that area knows that (by then 6pm) in Amish country there isn't much available in terms of groceries. I was however able to go 10 miles to the next town to a Walmart to buy supplies. When I arrived back at the hotel, and after getting settled in, and stuffing away the groceries into that tiny hotel fridge, I found out (by chance) that the key card to our hotel door did not work. So, I call down to the front desk to inquire what to do, and was told "Oh yes, some of the door locks don't work, I have no way to get that fixed at the moment.... and would I like to switch to a different room!" REALLY!!! She knew that 'some locks' didn't work and yet still put us in that room!?! NO!! I do not want to switch to another room! Not after getting everything put away. So, after going over pros/cons and knowing we didn't have any valuables with us we decided to stay in that room. The next day, we did our thing. Went to the auction, went shopping did the normal tourist thing. I arrived back at the hotel around 4 pm and was shocked that our room hadn't been touched. Dirty towels where still on the floor, trash cans (which are tiny and had to hold our trash from breakfast) where not cleaned out, nor was the bed made. We are not dirty ppl, and certainly I can make my own bed, but that's a service I pay for!! $98 /night!! So, I once again go downstairs to see if someone could quickly empty the trash and pick up the used towels, when I was notified that due to Covid-19 that was not possible. AGAIN.... why is this not disclosed somewhere!!! On the website, at checking, with a poster hanging up throughout the hotel.... SOMETHING!! So, both of the trashcans where overflowing, dirty towels where piling up, but I did get 4 clean towels. Check-out the next day was quick, front desk clerk was friendly. I WILL NOT BE BACK! There are plenty of other AirBnB...

Pros: -very clean rooms. Cleaning is taken seriously and it shows in the toe-kick base trim in the bathrooms, grout lines and more. All are evidence the property is cleaned well. -good hot breakfast, has the hot and cold options you’d expect -wonderful views from the rooms -fresh cookies in the lobby and 24/7 hot drink area (coffee, decaf, tea, hot chocolate) and cold water whenever you want it -nice patio off the pool area. Only accessible through the pool. -nice big seating area to hang out and play games in the evenings
Cons -pool is small, but okay for a couple kids to use. The hvac runs NONSTOP in the pool. Not only does it make it unbearably hot, it is so noisy you cannot communicate with others. This is not very enjoyable or safe when you need to communicate with your child in the water. -room fridge doesn’t seem to be very cool in temp -our room didn’t get cleaned one day and half cleaned another day. Wasn’t a huge deal since a cal lot the front desk got us the towels and items needed. -the shampoo, lotion and conditioner bottles were attached to the walls with plenty to use which was nice. If you have hand strength issues you may not be able to squeeze them to get the product out. -rooms were a bit on the small side but very nicely kept and nice quality linens. It is a small hotel overall which is nice
Overall would recommend! The cons list isn’t anything horrible with exception of the pool area HVAC noise and heat...
Read moreWe went to the area for our one year anniversary get away. As we entered our “suite” room, we found it not only not cleaned but very dirty from the last guests. We returned to the front desk to a somewhat unapologetic employee as we waited to even have her speak with us. We heard her speak to the manager over the phone, saying she didn’t know how to clean a room. She hung up and said well guess I have to clean it because we’re booked. We followed her up and due to her “lack in cleaning abilities and attitude” my husband starting cleaning. We both helped clean the room for over an hour. It was gross. We did not get a thank you and right before she left she said one not sincere sorry. I have truly never experienced anything like this! At this time it was about 11pm our evening was not only ruined but we were exhausted. My husband requested the manager come see him the next day. He went to the front desk the next day and the worker said the manager wasn’t going to make it in. To make another long story short, we never heard from the manager all week. My husband after several phone calls reached the “fill in manager”. She was courteous and said she would credit our account back. We are writing this because beware and I truly hope this was a one off situation. But for this hotel and staff to have not so much of an apology or lack of service after the problem as truly inexcusable. Thanks for ruining our one year...
