Whispering hills jellystone claims to care about having a SAFE family campground, but they will not enforce their rules. They allowed speeding golf carts to escalate to the point that my wife got assaulted and the sheriff had to get involved. A child on our row nearly got struck by a speeding golf cart 3 times, the speeding golf cart was reported several times by several campers to security and staff and nothing was done. Eventually the golf cart was witnessed rolling onto its side by campers and even a staff member and still nothing was done. When we first became seasonal we were told our camp site extended across the road and stopped at the corn field. We were told that we could have a shed over there and store our wood over there. We have cut the grass and maintained that area and parked our vehicles there for the last two years. (They do not maintain that area so if we don't it looks terrible, I'm sure if we didn't maintain it they would let us know that we need to.) We recently almost had our vehicles hit by golf carts a couple different times over there and instead of making sure nobody drives through there they are now saying that it is a common area for all campers to use. (They change the rules in order to avoid confrontation with weekend campers) The owner does not have the guts to confront anyone if he has a problem with them. They are heartless and only care about making more money, two traits that don't go well if you really care about having a family friendly campground. We have camped here for at least 3 years as weekenders and we were treated very well, but it is night and day difference between being a seasonal and being a weekend camper. (They will also find reasons to scold seasonal campers) a staff member accused someone in our group of using vulgar language at them, even though there were several witnesses to verify otherwise, they scolded him for it. They sent an email to all seasonal campers on Monday October 11th with nearly a $700.00 increase for the next year. They say it is for improvements but we have been camping here on and off for at least 5 years and they have done very little to nothing to improve the place. It's too bad better people aren't running this place because it is has a lot of potential but they lack the intelligence to make it a nice place. They are requiring a $250.00 deposit by Friday October 15th or we loose our site for next year. A lot of seasonal campers are definitely leaving because of this and several others are considering leaving, but 4 days is not enough time to decide and there is no time to get into a different campground for next year because they are all booked and have waiting lists...
Read moreI will say we have been to this park several times in the past several years. It is a nice clean park with good activities for kids. However, this last trip was a disaster. At check in we were told the camp site number (Full Hook Up) was ours. No one takes you to the site you find it yourself. After driving down the road and several people having to move their vehicle to do so, we came to site which already had an RV on it. We made it back to the office to let them know that the site had someone on it. She (Judy) gave us two options that were left, with neither being a good one. We also paid extra prior to secure this site as well. Her one option the RV (36ft) would not fit because they pack the people in so tight it is ridiculous, plus they have three cars at about every site. The second was to back in a site which just happened to have an empty spot across to be able to pull up far enough to do so. The campsite worker did nothing to help. Four fellow campers help us get it back in with one climbing on the top of the RV breaking branches before it ripped everything off the top of the RV like the air conditioners and the satellite. The campsite worker drove up in his golf cart and we said we did not need the cutters he went to get ten minuted prior and drove off. The customer service was awful she had no good answer beside oh well someone is in your spot after you just drove for two hours to get here. She could absolutely care less!!! We also asked for the security deposit back for the extra pay to secure that site and she said it was not there fault she could not return it. If an RV is in the wrong site and you do not take the campers to the sites to make sure they are correct, it is your fault. We could of had about five RV and 15 trucks move to get our site but that is ridiculous. The last day we asked another lady for the refund and she said absolutely so sorry for all the mix up with no questions asked. Need less to say the park had made it to the point of packing so many people in they have ran out their repeat customers. Area is nice, customer service was a joke and rude!!! Will not be returning again!! If you have a large RV think twice, you will not fit and they...
Read moreI was at this campground for about 6 months. During my time here I got a pretty good glimpse at it. I made some good friends, and for the most part had a great time while I was here.
As far as Jellystone Parks go, this one is pretty average. It has most of the amenities you’ll find at other parks, but they charge way...way more than other Jellystone parks I’ve visited.
But all of the “fun” amenities are way up on-top of a hill, near the bulk of the RV lots. This section of the campground is notoriously loud, especially at night. The crowd tends to get a little rowdy on the weekends.
Because of this, my family opted to park far, far away from this section, which meant we didn’t get as many opportunities to use the amenities this place provides. One could argue that this was a choice I made, and that’s correct. However, I would expect that a family friendly campground would do a better job of keeping the noise level and rowdiness to a minimum. This is not something I’ve seen at other Jellystone parks I’ve visited so far.
Unlike other locations, this park seems to have a shortage of staff, where pretty much everyone working here was a part-time summer gig, and I felt like I never was able to get my questions appropriately answered when-asked. For example, there is a 9-hole disc golf course on the premises, and it has an 18 hole layout, yet nobody seemed to have a clue what it was. I only found out because one of the seasonal campers knew.
The disc golf course is well above average for these kinds of places. It’s still quite simple compared to a traditional course, but there are several holes on the back 9 that have enough distance where you need to actually throw a driver.
If I come back to this place, it will be to see the seasonal camper friends I made while here. I don’t think I’d come back to this place again otherwise. It’s too expensive, and the party culture up top is too noisy for me...
