We made reservations for june and the process was pretty easy online. The pictures look great and im looking forward to our stay. I will update after our trip! UPDATE We came for bantam jeep festival. Stayed in Lakeview. I'm going to hit some key points that I couldnt find answers to before we came. This place is rather large. Some sites are on hills so arrive early to get a good spot. The bath house is pretty clean, for a bath house. Hot water is a little scarce first thing in the morning...7-11am. Most sites dont have fire rings, but you can still build a fire. You can fish all day long. The fishing is great here. WATCH FOR WATER SNAKES. The camp store has just about everything, so dont stress if you forget something. And there is a pilot gas station right down the road. Quiet time is 11 to 7..which is perfect unless you have children. The first two nights we were there, it was quiet. The last night was LOUD. We didnt mind but I know our neighbors did. The noise eventually settled around 11 but every once in a while you would get someone blaring their horn or yelling and singing. The security does drive around though. And I'm sure that is what kept them quiet. One thing the store doesnt sell...BAIT. You do get good phone service. There is a playground for kids. I really enjoyed out time here and we will...
Read moreWe have never camped here before we reserved a spot to camp for bantam $160 , which was a bit pricey, arrived to the campsite and at the entrance an elderly gentleman (security or whoever ) sat at the entrance he said you guys can’t come in unless you have a wristband, and we were so confused - come to find out (after holding up traffic into the campground) that we could just pull ahead and get checked in. Why didn’t he just direct us towards check in??? Absolutely rude and unprofessional. Unfortunately that experienced put a damper on our camp trip, second was the prices we added an additional person who camped with us (we only camped a night but had to pay for 2 ! ) it was $50 for an additional adult , outrageous. When we got to our camp spot on the “island “ nothing was marked here we are thinking we would have a nice little section maybe a plaque with a number showing where we were assigned, nope we were told just pick a spot! Terrible , no hook ups or anything, port a potty , and no picnic tables , would never stay again. $210 in total and very...
Read moreIt's a wonderful location that has been the backdrop for the annual SCA's Pennsic Wars for 50 years. The Cooper family that owns & runs the property do their utmost to provide all the amenities a camper out of the Middle Ages could ever want or need. The site is meticulously maintained year round. You could not find a better location for your own private camping or to host an event. Their large camp store has everything you might have forgotten and a few things you didn't know you needed. And, on a last but particularly important note, might I add, the porta-johns are ALWAYS immaculate. That's quite a feat when you consider the Pennsic Wars draws upwards of 8,000 to 10,000 people per year who camp for up to 2 weeks! It's a testament to the attention to detail the Coopers provide to all their services. If they get that detail right, you can be assured they will get all the other details for your event right, too. You can't go wrong...
