This is a great spot for snow play with the family where it doesn't hurt the bank. There is a decent amount of parking but would still recommend to get there early. They have restrooms and a few picnic tables scattered around. Each picnic table had its own BBQ but were closed off for the winter im guessing. The areas surrounding have some slope to go sledding. For this area you need the Big Pine Pass which is only $5. Did see a lot of vehicles with the other pass so doesn't seem like it's widely known. Didn't see any rangers checking them either so not sure how much they enforce. We got our pass at the Wrightwood Market in town. In the afternoon the elote man posted up $5 per corn and $7.50 for esquite. Overall it's a great spot for some family fun in the snow. Just make sure to come prepared as the nearest shops for any type of gear is in Wrightwood.

Well maintained campground and one of the cleanest I've been to in the area! The host from Mountain High saved the day when we forgot a lighter and made sure we had everything we needed to have a good time. We definitely had a great time and recommend staying if you're nearby and looking for a clean, quaint campground with a lot of space. Only thing to note is the sites are not accessible by car, you will need to walk just a few steps off pavement.

Appletree is very accessable from the North side of the forest mountain leading to Wrightwood, CA...almost too accessable. This parking lot is often full in winter when folks sled down the hills that are the campground. This could be a good campsite if you're just doing a quick trip with kids but beware that you too are right on the highway. If a ball rolls in the street, your child or dog may be in danger if they chase after.

Each campsite has a barbeque and fire pit and an obvious place to set up your tent. Ample trees create shade for most of the campsites although a couple get very hot midday.

The campsites are very close to each other so there is no privacy and campers that want quiet should look elsewhere. On my last trip, two families were quite loud, past the campsite curfew. One of the groups even brought a large karaoke speaker and played the music louder the later it got.

The site is pet friendly but dogs must be on a leash. None of the campers kept their dogs in a leash at the last visit.

The restrooms are pretty stinky but I did notice that a ranger came and cleaned them with a scrub brush and replenished the toilet paper.

There is no water available at this site so be sure to bring your own. Wrightwood is just 10 minutes away so enjoy your stay and head up for a nice brunch at the Evergreen.

Enjoy your...

Been camping here for years. Love this area but thru the years the actual campsites had become less and less maintained. We had become used to prepping for use our own site before using (cleaning out old ashes from firepits, and raking debris like pine cones and weeds from site area). But this past weekend, father's day weekend, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the campground had been given some greatly needed attention. Shout out to Mtn High for the love given to our families favorite camp ground. Wanted you to know it is...
