My wife and I had some special times there in Mt. baldy. This resetaraunt is okay for the area, and has pool tables and plenty of seating. We spent time staying at the cabins, and eating at the restaurant. It is a great area to get away from the crowds in LA and the Inland Empire. The trails in the area are great, and unique to this region of the state. There is lots of scenery to see, and places to stop along the way during a hike, and to enjoy the not-so-fresh California air.
The last time we visited the restaurant, our experience was nowhere near as pleasant. We arrived and ate at the restaurant while checking in. The wait was long, and the food was okay, with no refills without repeatedly asking by going up to the bar. We rented a cabin for the weekend and our parking spaces were taken, by the adjacent cabin's guests. When we went to the bar (which is where they run the cabins from), and complained, we were told we were welcomed to park down the street and carry all of our stuff up to our cabin.
So rather than getting the guests staying in the adjacent cabin to possibly move one of their 4 cars, we were supposed to park our car on the busy street near the restaurant (busy for Mt. Baldy's standards). It wasn't the walk that we minded... We were tired from a day of hiking and considering the cost, they should have simply asked the guests to move their car.
Needless to say, that was our last, and final visit; despite its personal significance for us. I still gave it 3 stars due to our first positive...
Read moreWe went to the lodge for dinner after a day of hiking. We really wanted to love this place, but the food was below average. The atmosphere was cool (love the big fireplace), the service was pretty good, but nothing above & beyond. We ordered a burger & a patty melt that were decent. We also ordered the Homemade piping hot chili. Well it was not homemade & I think it was about room temperature. I'm a chili connoisseur and I can tell you what I just ate was room temperature Hormel Chili from a can. I asked for extra, extra, extra onions on the chili, but it was served with none. When I asked again for onions, they brought me a small cup of onions. The onions were not fresh onions, but rather small little Freeze Dried onions. You know, the kind that McDonald's puts on their little Hamburgers in a kids meal. Oh, oh, but the fries were very good... soft & hot on the inside and just a little crispy on the outside. If you want some good French fries, this is the...
Read moreThis place looks great. It has a great Lodge feel. But that's about it. I order the chili and it was pretty calm. Nothing fancy about it not much of chili spice. The French dip wasn't very tasty also. Even the arju wasn't tasty. My kids got the grill cheese and chicken strips. These were good which is why I have it three stars instead of two. The service was okay it takes a long time. Only because they're so many people coming down from trails and ski trip and placing in the snow. But this is the only place up there so you have to deal with it. Also the wait for this place is forever sometimes. But like I said it's really not their fault it's cause it's the only thing near by. Here one thing I didn't notice when I got there is that you have to sign in. Almost got skipped because of this. If your really hungry or if you want a few beers and play some pool this is the place. I wonder what the live bands sound like. Otherwise wait too you...
